I just thought it was interesting that this guy, who's doing a "How to build" video decided that the best way to deal with the problem, was to just leave the radiator out, and then he glues the ribbed part of the 8 lug wheels to the front of the wheel, right over the 8 lugs, causing them to stick way out of the wheel. I guess he never saw a real 8 lug wheel. You have to see it to know what I mean.

Your Wheels look great.

I saw on a You Tube video on the Moebius 61 Pontiac(Ventura I think), that you could not use the radiator because the grill wouldn't fit if you did. Is this true? I didn't put much stock in what this guy says, since he built the 8 lug wheels backwards on his review build, and they stuck out about an inch from the tires, and he thought they were OK. You should check this out(Right On Replicas), I don't think he knows what he's talking about. Those wheels look hilarious.

That's what I had in mind, I can still use the 40% off for paint, or display cases, or other stuff. They don't really have any kits that I don't already have, or don't want anyway. -

LA's Totally Awesome cleaner/degreaser strips chrome like crazy. Drop part in, let it sit over night, chrome is gone, no scrubbing. I get it at dollar tree $1.00 for a 64 oz. bottle. -

Yeah, that's a great sale, you can get a kit for 20% more than you usually can. Mine just got the 70 Chevelle and 72 Nova in the other day, glad I don't want either of those. -

They won't build this kind of car because they would set the MSRP at $65000 and nobody would buy one because they could buy the Kia for $25000 less, and it wouldn't be recalled every 6 months, and in 5 years it wouldn't have a resale value of $2500. -

Yep, I sold Kias for four years, and that 5 year 60000 mile bumper to bumper-10 year 100000 mile power train warranty helped sell a lot of them. -
Can't have too many 57 Chevys(even though I prefer the 56).

The reason that American car makers are giving up on cars is because the foreign builders, that everyone was laughing at a few years ago, are making more reliable, higher tech, and much better looking cars at a better price than the American companies can build. Compare a Kia Stinger, or Hyundai Genesis, or a Kia Optima, or Hyundai Sonata to anything in their class that the American companies are putting out. Can't laugh at the Korean cars anymore! -

I won't make much of a dent if I keep buying as many as I build! -

That is a problem, I have NO medical ins. I'm lucky that we have a clinic here that charges you based on your income, which makes it pretty affordable. If I can manage to stay semi-healthy for two more years, I might survive. -

Same here, I retired earlier this year after losing my job at 61, and not being able to find a decent job that paid enough to live on(nobody is jumping at the chance to hire a 62 year old guy). Besides, I had 3 older brothers who didn't make it past 68, and parents that barely made it to 71, so I figured I might as well collect some of that money that I paid to SS while I was still kickin. While I was working, I'd finish 1 or 2 models a year. This year I've finished at least 20, and will get at least 2 more done this month. -

I don't really think you can consider it a "Car Movie". I think "Grease" referred to Travolta's hair. -

Yeah, those wheels/tires do look nice, but I have boxes of just wheels and tires, and with all the other cool kits coming out, I can't see buying a kit that I don't want. -

I probably won't buy this issue since I have a 48 coupe, 48 Woody, 48 Custom coupe, and an original Pro Shop built convertible kit that turned out great, and most of all because I HATED the movie, and don't want anything associated with it. -

The Pro Modeler kit had black or white stripe decals for the wheels instead of trim rings. -

I was just digging in the parts box, looking for a steering wheel, and came across the spare 440 auto. from the 68 Hemi Dart that I built a while ago. I think this one will work in my GTX. -

RichCostello replied to RichCostello's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yep, engine swap, was originally a hemi car. I found the car for him, it belonged to a guy who was a big drag car builder, and racer who had done some engine work on my 69 Super Bee. He had used the hemi in one of his drag cars, and replaced it with the 383. That GTX was a beautiful car, and kind of rare because it was ivy green with a white vinyl top, and most ivy green GTXs had black vinyl tops. No matter what he did to that car, he could never get it to run like my Super Bee. -
I Love this kit, one of AMT's best ever.
-
Turned out pretty good anyway, I think it looks better without the scoop(never liked that scoop), in fact I think it looks better without the hood. I can't believe AMT can't make that hood fit better.

I stumbled across HQ Hobbies, has anyone dealt with them? They have some great prices, wondering about shipping, and service.

Hey, you know, that's not a bad idea. I have an old built up that I've been thinking of tearing up, and redoing. Might just switch engines between them. Thanks Casey.
