My last '16 build. AMT '40 Ford vintage box art
Cpt Tuttle replied to FordRodnKustom's topic in Model Cars
Nice capture of the box art, very well done. -
One of the few modifications that has to be done, cutting the frame and floorpan a little bit in the rear. The most important thing now is to fit the body and interior/floorpan/engine bay, so I'm concentrating on that now, here's the floor with blue flocking. Since there was no pedals on the Galaxie dash, I moved them from the Starliner.

720! Just because I own one in 1:1 scale, lol.

Terrible Kits You Love!
Cpt Tuttle replied to Chuck Most's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd say the AMT Deuces. Sure, they aren't so terrible fit-wise, but the detailing suffers a lot, the stock wheels are too small, the bodies have the wrong proportions.....but they are classics that can be made into anything and I feel that they do have a lot of soul that's lacking in the more modern efforts from Revell. -
This is looking great. I guess this is the modern Beetle kit? Looks a lot nicer than the old one.....I just looked into the box and quickly decided to make a flat black brush painted volksrod out of that one, lol!

Superb weathering!

Very good build, I'm not so keen about modern day NASCARs, but when they looked like real cars instead of soap bars full with advertisement for breakfast cereal or whatever, they were actually pretty cool!
-
Almost as if I could imagine that as a removable top, a Pontiac "Blazer"......nice flow in the lines though.

Haha, wonderful!

I found the correct wheels in the MPC 67 Charger, and here they have been painted with a coat of humbrol metal finish for a matte look like the real car. Neither I or my father likes polished/chrome TTs anyway, so. The tyres are only temporary to see how it looks, I probably have some better ones somewhere without a thick coat of glue smeared all over the sidewall...

I'm really not into todays pop music, but the swedish artist Veronica Maggio (probably unknown to most of you) is something different, since I can hear some traces of mid to late 60s soul in her music, do you agree when you hear this for example?

I'm building a replica of my fathers 1964 Galaxie... ....but since the old 64 Galaxie is such a simple model, a 60 Starliner I build 10 years ago will be donor for the most stuff. Here I've cut out the hood on the Galaxie and put the body over the Starliner chassis and as you can see the fit is very good. True, it SHOULD be since the 60-64 Fords share the same chassis, but that's not always the case in the modelling world. They got the wheelbase right too.

Yes, that's me.....finally someone that understands my nickname.
-
I forgot to take my medicines the day I took the pics and was shaking like hell.....so I'm not offended at all.
-
Yes, but let's say that my entry wasn't built on a monday.

This Swedish brick will be my entry. Am I going nuts? No. *Reliability is one of the most important factors in a race like this, and everybody knows that Volvos are indestructible, right? *5 cylinder turbo engine can be tuned to 4-500 reliable HP without any huge problems. *It is quite discrete, after all, who would think that a Volvo wagon was taking part in an illegal race? *Lots of room for everything that may be needed to fix breakdowns after the road. Are you convinced now?

11 finished models, a record for me and I think that it may stay that way too.....finished much old started stuff, so...
-
Not perfect but at least it looks a bit cool on the shelf.
-
Boring build maybe but at least it is moving forward...

For a X-mas speedbuild on a Swedish forum.... 60+ parts....seems legit for a speedbuild..... Didn't like the 2-piece molded in grey plastic tyres in the kit so swapped them for, I think, Revell 41 Chevy pickup in front and maybe Little red wagon (?) in the rear. Failed at the paintjob and to be honest I feel that the best idea probably is to go oldschool and brush paint this.....I have gotten good results with gloss black enamel before, so.... The silly chassis, I think I made more realistic looking stuff out of Lego in grade school....

1929 Model A Roadster ArtDeco/Coachbuilt/Streamliner -DONE!
Cpt Tuttle replied to Impalow's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Now this is turning into something interesting. -
Can I jump in with a recently started one? I have a Datsun 720, and I have lengthened the body and frame from a regular cab to a king cab, not finished with the putty work though, just glued them together and done a little putty and sanding, also the frame has a coat of paint. Nothing more is done.

I can really agree on everything here, I guess that the flat nosed Econoline van and the Entex 4 door VW Rabbit and BMW 2002 kits is the one I wish the most that they would have been 1:24 or 1:25 instead. Bashing the 1:24 scale is just silly in my eyes, if we're talking about following some kind of industry standard, they should stop issuing new 1:25 kits instead. Japanese and european manufacturers, as well as Monogram, has mostly been making 1:24 kits, 1:25 is just some american thing, and isn't Moebius and US Revell the only american companies still issuing new kits today? And sadly kits are seldom accurate enough that the scale difference does matter at all - take the Lindberg "tall T" that is said to be 1:24 and compare it to a 1:25 AMT model T, and the AMT is HUGE! Of course sometimes it is the other way around, old Monogram wheels are as an example often on the big side when you use them on 1:25 cars and tend to look cartoony.....
