  1. I am old-school and prefer Cragars or Keystones from the late 60's era.
  2. Continuation to this story. While there I mentioned the troubles I was having with my 80 Pinto. I had to remove the steering column to cut the factory steering wheel off in order to replace it with a GT wheel from one of my parts cars. When I tried to reinstall the column it came up 1" short of the mounting bolts. No matter how much I pulled, it would not move. He told me to jack up both sides of the front of the car to get the weight off the wheels. When I got home I dragged my floor jack and a couple of jackstands out to the Pinto. Sure enough when I got the front tires off the ground it took just a small effort to pull the steering column forward enough to engage the mounting bolts. Had the opportunity to drive it around the back roads for a short time after having it sit for more than two months. We also discussed some engine work in the future.
  3. Just recently came in possession of my invalid aunt's 2008 Kia Optima, don't laugh it gets better mpg than my 5.0 F-150. Anyway, the air conditioner does not work. Talked about it with a friend who knows all the good mechanics around and he turned me on to a local guy. I had purchased 6 cans of R-134 several years ago for use in my 2010 Ranger if I ever needed it, the Ranger was traded a few years back, so I still had the freon. Took the car in this morning, he ran a check discovered low freon and used two cans of the freon. I gave him the four left over cans, since I hopefully will not ever need it. He called it even, so no charge. Glad it worked that way since I only had $7 cash in my pocket and I don't think he takes plastic.
  4. With an SOHC it has got to be righteous. Looking forward to what you do with this one.
  5. Coming along quite nicely. This particular Chrysler is so inspirational for customizing. I also have one in the works, just can't find the pictures right now.
  6. Looks like a save to me. Maybe a touch of some kind of polish to bring the sheen back.
  7. Stopped by Ollie's yesterday to see if they had anything besides ships, missiles, and Indian chiefs. Walked out with a 56 T-Bird and a Jaguar.
  8. Very nice-looking striping job. I'll bet it really pops in the sunlight.
  9. Thanks, I may trade off my older versions.
  10. Stopped by a local Ollie's today, they had a bunch of Dom's GTX, a couple of 56 T-Birds, and one Jaguar hidden behind some other toys. Guess I may have disappointed whoever hid the Jag, it followed me home along with one of the T-Birds. Is the Jag a repop of the original Revell Jaguar or is it a new/somewhat new tool?
  11. Amazing it is a Revell/AMT model kit. Begs the question when did AMT begin kitting models and when did they separate from Revell?
  12. Excellent Ford truck, really like your color selection. Looks like you have that 440 right where it belongs - next to a dumpster.
  13. Saw a Kia Kuno Parked on the inside shoulder of I-77 this morning, the GEICO Highway Safety truck was right behind me. Hope he has a good set of D-Cells.
  14. They were outlawed in North Carolina also, based on the Ralph Nadar manifesto "unsafe at any speed". Always thought they were uglier than sin, and serve no useful purpose whatsoever.
  15. Cruising down the mountainside with a bus load of softballers and met a 41 (?) Studebaker Sedan, candy red, nice wheels. Cruising in style.
  16. Mine has a small selection of ships, the 1/48 fuel truck, 2 Fruehauf vans, and one AMT Cement Mixer.
  17. I have this set from a 54 Starmaster friction kit if you are interested.

  19. I enjoyed the series called "Call to Glory" starring Craig T. Nelson as a no-nonsense USAF Colonel flying during the heart of the Cold War, especially the Cuban Missile Crisis era. Didn't last long, only one season. Guess people of the mid 80's didn't care for a military hero.
  20. Great looking build, really like that red color. I got one in work (LOL), but I am going Altered class using an Ardun flattie. Hope mine looks as good as yours.
  21. Attended a swap-meet in Shelby, NC, took some kits with me. Scored a damaged Hubley '62 Ford wagon, will be a great parts car for my crew-cab '53 Ford build and a '62 Galaxie body I have that needs chrome pieces. Also got the Monogram Midget racer, a Revell parts pack Oldsmobile engine, and a set of 3D printed drag tires, front and rear. Plus brought home a smidge over $300 cash for the kits I sold. Pretty good day.
  22. I can just see the blood gushing from the holes in my fingers. That is some excellent craftsmanship, thanks for sharing.
  23. Beautiful, clean build. Very well put together, especially with the suspension changes.
  24. I dumped most of my B&D tools a few years back. Was having too many issues with them so I switched to Porter Cable, pretty satisfied with the change.
  25. Reminds me of some of Amazon's shipping boxes. I received a box at least that size which contained two books. They are well known for overboxing their shipments.
