  1. Your work is awesome. Can you explain the process in a bit more detail about adding thickness to the game models? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
  2. Spray it through an airbrush and it might come out better. SMS hyperchrome is still the champ...
  3. Avoid Tamiya TS13, as there are so many people having trouble with it eating decals (on Facebook etc). Use MR Hobby Super Clear UV cut if you don't have an airbrush. Use 2k clear if you do have an airbrush. These are much safer on decals
  4. What happened to the Mustang GT350R race car?
  5. They will be real, but are they really cheap?
  6. Mr surfacer 1500 black is brilliant. The great thing about it is it can be used as a flat black/ semi gloss black as well. So will save you doing extra coats with less paint used and cheaper.
  7. I'd say ACF films are not a good answer by the research I have done, leaving marks that shouldn't be there. I was highly considering buying a Saturn 3 Ultra, but have totally changed my mind. I may just get the Saturn 3 instead.. I wonder if you can demod the latest 3d printers to use FEP instead of ACF?
  8. I think the pictures really don't mean much. They just show its "chrome like". Durability is the real test.
  9. I have not used a dehydrator. I just did a couple of wet coats of black enamel, then within 10 mins, then applied a mist coat of sms hyperchrome. Yes, don't touch for a few days or more!
  10. Certainly can be handled lots without damage. Check out this engine bay, done with SMS hyperchome and super silver. As this engine bay has been scratch built, it had lots of handling, even after all the pre fit tests. A nightmare actually to get all the pipes lined up. The trick is to apply over wet black enamel. This makes it very tough and durable.
  11. No. I'm refer to SMS paints super silver. It has been somewhat superseded by their hyperchrome range, but is still good for a "stainless steel" look for example. Their hyperchrome is a much more reflective "chrome" paint, and can be handled lots without damage.
  12. Prove your claim. Show me the bottle of your SMS chrome you have tested.
  13. Just wondering, does anyone have any details or close up pics of the mclaren can am cars, especially the M8A and M8D's. They look cool! thanks Mike
  14. Black enamel is the best to use, has to be super shiny. Then only just mist the SMS chrome on while the black is still wet/ tacky. If you are getting fish eyes, you are more than likely applying the chrome far too heavy.... As far as I know, you don't polish it either.
  15. SMS hyperchrome tends to give the best compromise of shine vs durability. The others are pretty much redundant or only good for items not being touched at my house.
  16. This particular kit is not my style, but I really like that there are Aussie car kits available now. Who cares how they are made? If they look good, then that's what matters the most. They seem to be selling super fast going by facebook comments/posts! The Torana XU1 is coming at some point as well, I believe. I will buy one of them!
  17. I think the best chrome is the SMS hyperchrome (both versions). They are very durable and don't need to be clear coated. The chrome finish is similar to Alclad or spaz for reflectivity, but much more durable than them. Part of the trick is to apply the chrome paint to wet or tacky super shiny enamel. It seems to bond together perfectly for a durable finish. Their super silver is also good but not so reflective. It gives a nice polished aluminium look. I recently painted a whole 1/12 motorcycle frame in the stuff, and it has taken a lot of handling with no paint worn off so far... Very happy if it stays like that!
  18. There are some rules, like don't put the red LED's in parallel with white LED's. The white LED's will not work due voltage difference. I have used all white LED's and painted the white LED's red to get the correct effect. It is not as simple as it seems....
  19. Thanks Tamiya, my bank account will have time to recover with this release.... This is helped by the NUNU delays as well.
  20. The thing that stands out with SMS chrome is its durability. Much better than most chrome paints. But it is not as chrome like as molotow. More like stainless steel - which is great for most car parts... I don't bother with the 2k clear, but do use enamel black and apply the sms chrome while the enamel is still wet/ tacky. Really binds in well.
  21. You are correct. I had this happen myself once trying to get a shiny finish. Simply too much 2k clear too fast. Reactivated the base coat.... especially likely if the base coat was sprayed a short time before the clear.
