  1. I have this one on the bench too. Been pretty happy with it so far. Going in a totally different direction than you though. I like the silver and the "base model" hubcap/steel wheel setup. I've always preferred that look.
  2. I have a few that I miss. 1993 Volkswagen Passat wagon. Had the VR6 engine, 5-speed manual, and black leather. Already kind o f a rare car. I then removed the AC, added a large turbo and intercooler, full Borla exhaust, C2 programming, coilovers dialed down, Porsche D90 wheels, and Porsche brakes. Car was the brutally fast, and a crazy amount of fun. All in a station wagon body. 1985 Volkswagen Transporter. Did an engine swap in this one. Added the TDI from an '05 Jetta, bigger turbo, intercooler, regeared manual transmission, lowered springs, Mercedes wheels, South African front end. Got tired of the nickel and diming, always putting money into it. Should have stuck with it a little longer and really dialed it in. 1978 Ford Thunderbird. My first car. Should have kept it just to have it. Brown on brown, vinyl roof, spoke hubcaps, 400ci V8 with a 4-barrel. Sucked fuel, didn't care...because I was 16 and who cares about that kind of stuff when you're 16 and gas is 34 cents a litre? No pics on the computer though. 2002 Porsche 996. My first track car. So many good times with this thing. 6-speed manual, upgraded to Euro spec 030 suspension. Sold it once kids arrived on the scene, bought wifey a Volvo XC90. Sigh.
  3. Ones that stand out for me... Dodge Power wagon - Simon & Simon KITT Jaguar XJ6 - The Saint Austin Mini - Mr Bean Porsche 356 Speedster - Beverly Hills 90210 Ferrari Testarossa - Miami Vice GMC van - A-Team Dodge Charger - Dukes of Hazzard GMC K1500 - The Fall Guy Austin 1100 - Fawlty Towers
  4. Beautiful job.
  5. Had another great trade with Steve (Intmd8r) and no complaints. Fast shipper, packaged well. Would trade again.
  6. An Enzo ute! I think the concept, and I like the execution.
  7. Oooh, I like the direction of this one. Has a bit of a Rauh Welt vibe to it.
  8. That's funny, I was literally just searching for these last night. I saved and printed a couple many years ago, was thinking about the ones I missed.
  9. I've been lucky I guess. I buy and sell a lot of guitar parts and guitars, and have yet to have a bad experience. If I ever have a question, I email the seller directly, and without fail they're responded with a definite answer. Never had a burn. Knock on wood.
  10. Takes me forever to finish one. Between work, family, coaching the boy's soccer team, playing volleyball, playing in a band, and camping/hiking; my modelling time is not as much as I would like. Considering I'll finish maybe 5-10 kits this year, from a stash of around 100 kits...maybe a 10% completion rate at best. I'll probably never finish all of these. But I want to.
  11. Nah, you're the one who brought up people who discriminate and rule the world. I just dropped a name as an example.
  12. They actually do kind of run the world. President Trump is a prime example of the fool who discriminates on the basis of skin colour and/or gender.
  13. I think the fact that you had to list specific examples of minorities being successful says something. I think everyone here probably knows people from visible minority groups who have been very successful in what they do, just like I'm guessing everyone here knows unsuccessful people. And you're right, it doesn't matter what your colour is, or what your political preferences are, or what your sexual preferences are. Doesn't matter if you believe in one of the many Gods out there or if you believe in a flying spaghetti monster. Everyone can be successful if they put a little effort into their life, and they want it. But...white guys have it easier. It's not right, but that's how it is. Gender stereotypes and racial stereotypes definitely get in the way, especially in certain regions and certain industries.
  14. I've just started building one of mine. Really liking the detail and quality of the kit so far. But then, I'm not that far into it yet.
  15. Can't say I've ever felt oppressed or singled out just for being a guy. Let's be honest, like many of you, as a white male, I've got things pretty easy compared to others.
  16. Growing up, the IDA drug stores always had a "toy" section in them, and I used to get a few kits there whenever I could scrounge up the funds or nag my parents into buying something for me. The only specific kit I remember was the old Subaru Brat kit, I think AMT or Monogram. More recently, a few years ago, I happened to see models art Wal Mart. It's the only time I've ever seen them there. They had a bunch of the Polar Lights NASCAR kits on for $5 CDN each. So I grabbed three of them. Not particularly interested in old school NASCAR, but I can't can't say no do a deal. I buy a lot at local antique malls too. Lots of deals to be had there.
  17. I picked up the 77 Chev van and will be tweaking that one. Shaving the flares and the grille bow tie, stripping the chrome. And some of the leftover parts from my Dirty Donny van should help me finish the look I want. Definitely not stealing parts from my A-Team van that's in the stash.
  18. Found two kits yesterday at a local antique mall. $10 for the pair sounded pretty good to me. boxes open, but no bags were open and everything is there and undamaged.
  19. No kidding! I've been hunting for the Mad Max interceptor for quite a while now!
  20. Thanks guys! Everyone came to the same conclusions I did, so I feel better about that. I have the A-Team van, but it will be a lot easier to grab the '77 Chev posted above and just shave the flares off. I considered grabbing the AMT Rescue van and shortening it, but not sure I want to do that. As was said, would need to remove sections both in front of and behind the rear wheels. Will crack open that A-Team van box and see what the second grille looks like. Has to be round headlights. Shouldn't be too hard to shave the bowtie off the grille that comes with the 77 Chev kit. Definitely want to do the 71-77 era, as the 1:1 I'm planning on replicating is that gen. Thanks everyone!
  21. I need some advice/thoughts from the kit experts here. I know Revell has a Chev cargo van, late 70s era, and it's a stubby van. However, that one I believe has molded in fender flares. Has any manufacturer produced a similar kit, but without the flares? Preferably in GMC form? Ultimately, I need a GMC kit, stubby van, no flares, round headlights. I know I could take the DIrty Donny kit and cut it down to fit, or take the Chev kit and shave the flares, just hoping there was a kit that didn't require modification! Any thoughts?
  22. Here's my current daily driver. 2017 Ram 2500 Laramie Megacab with the 6.4L Hemi. Perfect roadtrip vehicle for me.
  23. Tough one for me. I'm mainly a hard rock/metal guy, but I like pretty much everything. My tastes run from Industrial metal, to EDM, to jazz, to blues..there's usually something from every genre I can get in to. Except for country music. And modern R&B/hip-hop/rap. And I have no guilty pleasures, because I'm not feeling guilty about any of the nonsense I listen to! Having said that, the artist that surprises the most people when they find out I'm a fan is probably Maroon 5.
  24. Picked this up yesterday. And although I don't have a pic, the replacement body for my Revell Ramcharger arrived a couple of days ago. Not as warped as the original!
  25. Love the paint work. I almost did my 1:1 Camaro in that style of camo.
