review 3d print designers
iamsuperdan replied to stitchdup's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
3DVM has raised the bar on complete kits. Check out his new Mk1 Audi TT kit. I've downloaded it and have started printing. I'd argue that it's on par with Alpha Models. Yeah, I said it. https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/audi-tt-mk1-8n-in-1-24-scale -
I thought it was an excellent movie! Saw that in the theatre when it came out. Need to re-watch it for usre.

She actually has a sweater/jacket/vest thing that she wears when it gets really cold. Doesn't bother her at all. I suspect because it fits kind of like her harness.

I dust my builds with a brush before taking photos. They look perfect to my eye. THen I look at the pics and there's dust and dog hair everywhere! Frustrating! I think yours is turning out great.

Luna does NOT Like her winter hat. Getting ready to go walkies. There was a wind, so windchill was a factor. I was wearing my goofy warm winter hat, figured we'd try hers out. Nope. Ahh well, she's wearing a fur coat, so all is good.

Not bad, winter didn't arrive in my part of Canada until January. We finally got some snow over the weekend. Just a dusting. Enough to make me feel justified in buying winter tires for the truck. I'm not really irked per se, but I'm not a fan of cold weather. And it's not even that cold yet. Only -10 C during the day. Supposed to be down to -30 C later this week. Then next week, the temps go back up to -5 or so.

Watched a couple of "foreign" movies recently, both on NEtflix. Vikingulven - aka Viking Wolf This is a Norwegian movie about a werewolf. It's overdubbed in English, and takes about 5 seconds to get used to. Very well done movie. Effects are good, the story is interesting, suitably gory for a werewolf movie without being too over the top. Highly recommend this one. Blood Red Sky This is a German movie, also overdubbed in English. Excellent horror movie about a transatlantic flight that doesn't go well. Acting was good, story is great, effects were great. I'd watch this one again. Also watched Killers Of The Flower Moon. Here's your big winner at next year's Oscars. I think the main actress won at the Golden Globes last night, and deservedly so. Tells the story of the Osage Nation murders. Just an excellent movie in every way. Although I preferred the book.

It's been covered, but I went and saw Ferrari on the weekend. Thought it was really good. Covers 1956-1957, and basically covers the lead up to the ill-fated Mille Miglia race/crash. The movie focused more on Enzo's story than the cars. The car scenes were excellent. Except for the big crash, very little CGI. Lots of real cars doing real car things. Adam Driver did a decent job playing Enzo. Odd choice, but he was good. Penelope Cruz did great, and I could see her nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars next year. I think it's worth watching. Now I need to go and read Brock Yates' book, which is what the movie was based on. Also need to go and watch Lamborghini: The Man Behind The Legend now.

Hmmmm, ‘79 Firebird Widebody ZL1 anybody?!
iamsuperdan replied to Joe Handley's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This could be VERY cool. -
Yes, there is definitely something about holding a physical copy as opposed to a screen. Interesting comment about it seeming like a new and different issue, as we are trying a few different things to make the articles more...interesting. Maybe interesting isn't the right word, but we are trying to kick things up a notch. Nothing crazy, no drastic changes, but a few little tweaks here and there. So thanks for noticing! As an aside, when the magazine goes to print, the printer handles the bulk mailing. They do the labels and get everything mailed off. However they do it is very different than when Dave sends out replacement copies. That's why some of you get replacement copies in a very timely manner, while the original issue takes a long time. Now an interesting thing that happened with this issue. As a writer and as part of the editorial staff, I get multiple copies. I had a few arrive around the 18th of December. And a few more copies arrived today. Keeping in mind, these were all mailed by our printer at the exact same time. Weird.

2021 Ford Bronco
iamsuperdan replied to gotnitro?'s topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Looks great! I'd say you got the colours pretty bang on! This arrived here last night. 2023 Bronco Big Bend in Eruption Green. Now with heavy coating of frost. -

Your build is coming along beautifully! A couple of notes about the multi-piece cabs. I've built a few of these Italeri kits, and have used a few different methods. The most successful for me... First, I assembled the cab, then painted and detailed it, then installed the interior. Was a bit of a challenge to force it in there, but it worked. This may not work for all of their kits though. Second time, I built according to the instructions, fully detailed the interior, painted the window trim, assembled everything, then masked off the windows and trim, then filled, sanded, painted, decaled, and cleared the exterior. I learned this from a couple of friends who do aircraft modelling. I'll be using this method on the next Italeri kit I build, the Scania S730 Highline. Seeing your skills though, I think you have a pretty good handle on building this. Looks fantastic so far!

New truck/trailer kits?
iamsuperdan replied to zaina's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Oh, and if we're talking full on dream world here, I would love to see a new tool, modern car hauler kit. A combo, with both truck and trailer. -
New truck/trailer kits?
iamsuperdan replied to zaina's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I'd like to see more modern trucks. Freightliner Cascadia Mack ANthem Or even a medium duty truck, like the Freightliner M2-106 Not sure if this one qualifies, but a full detail kit of a Ford F550 (or Ram 5500? would be pretty cool too. Lots of possibilities for builds. -
Kind of. These are the source files that Iceman makes these kits from. https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/ford-maverick-grabber-1972 Andrey's designs vary, and some technically have an engine bay, and some even have an engine. But the chassis and engine are pretty rudimentary, not entirely accurate. These files do print up VERY nicely though, and when sitting on the shelf, amongst your collection, will look fantastic! And until one of the major brands steps up, Andrey's designs are the best option for oddball or different vehicles. And if you don't have a printer, Iceman Collections does a great job with printing with excellent quality and reasonable pricing.

Do I build it?
iamsuperdan replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Why wouldn't you? -
The IT Crowd. Season 4, Episode 6, circa 2006 There's a whole running gag about being put on a pedal stool. In my humble opinion, the funniest show I've ever watched. Just ignore the US version though because it stinks.

Revell 2022 Corvette Stingray C8 Z5
iamsuperdan replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Maybe it's just his build, but this isn't making me want one. I'm looking at the fit of the wheels and the ride height, especially in the back. Plus the fit of the headlight lenses. I'll wait until I see people build it for real, and not something just thrown together. Yes, I know this is just a test kit, but still... -
My first thought upon reading this was a Kenworth in a Gulf livery. ? Which would be weird. Assuming this will be a companion piece to the Gulf tank trailer.

Big fan of your colour choices! Nice to see something that isn't bright red.

Had to replace a faucet in our main floor bathroom. I am not a plumber. But I did it, and it works, and nothing leaks, and I didn't break anything. I did however curse up a storm, because I am 6'6" and not a scrawny 6'6", and I don't exactly fit well in the cabinet under the sink.
