  1. Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Happy Sol Invictus, and happy whatever the rest of you choose to celebrate this holiday season! Wishing you all the best for a peaceful and relaxing holiday, and hope everyone has a healthy and happy 2024.
  2. December 20, still no snow in this part of Canada. Most days it hasn't even been cold enough to get frost on the windshield in the mornings.
  3. 100% agree with your list. Andrey is great with his designs, and although not 100% accurate underneath, they look great when printed and displayed. I've spent a lot of money on Motobas' engines and drivetrains. No one does it better. Blackbox' wheels are excellent. To add a few to to your list... Note, all of these are from Cults3D, except where noted HORA80 - vehicle bodies. Does a great job, but you do need to do some math and scale these to your desired scale. And you'll need to deepen/scribe the body lines and whatnot. Interiors and chassis are very basic and sometimes non-existent, but his selection of bodies is excellent, and he has a a little of everything. THEGEARHEADFACTORY - if you want a modern F1 car, this is the guy. Curbside only, but look great. MCSDESIGN - drag car parts, engines, transmissions, other accessories. Really good stuff. PIXEL3D - some fun vehicles and accessories. ZFMW - Z Force Modelworks - one of the best for wheels MODELLBAU1ZU24 - flat decks, service trucks, big rig parts, truck/4x4 related accessories. I've spent a lot with this guy. OLIVIZZLE - a few full kits of excellent quality and detail. Lots of really nice wheels and transkits. REAL-RIMS - simply the BEST source for aftermarket wheels for your builds. FET-THUNDERDOME - not a lot of offerings yet, but has some amazing wheels for the Revell Porsche 918, MacLaren F1 GTR. Also a super nice set of BBS F1 wheels, and centerlocks for the Porsche Carrera GT. And some other stuff.
  4. Here you go. https://www.motortrend.com/plus/magazines/hot-rod/issue/571499 Starts on page 26.
  5. Idea: 9/10 Execution: 1/10 That's a pretty poor render, but a really cool idea.
  6. Right, next thing you guys will be saying that you actually used one of the mystery cables from the box of mystery cables and power cords we all have in the garage. ?
  7. I used make my mom pick me up copies when I went grocery shopping with her. I definitely didn't understand a lot of the humour at the time, and honestly, probably didn't care. I would just get the magazine for the artwork. I was big into cars and drawing back then, so would copy what I saw in the mags. Saving that link that Graham posted above, so I can go back and read later. See if I recognize anything from the 80s.
  8. 'Tis the season....
  9. Luna has a birthday today! She's 5 now.
  10. Not many of the kits I built as a youth survived. And man, I had some kits I wish I had kept. Tamiya Volvo BTCC both sedan and wagon, Tamiya DTM Alfas, ESCI Ford Transit - the red version. A ton of trucks, couple of the AMT 454SS kits. All tossed in the bin. Anyway, some of what I do have left. Italeri Mercedes. It's all there, and is going to get rebuilt one day. Italeri F40. Started in, have never finished it. But I want to. Two old Monogram Superbirds. Both still complete. I've started rebuilding and restoring one of them, and it's turning out great.
  11. I actually knew a guy that never used turn signals. And when a couple of us brought it up, with a straight face he said "no one needs to know where I'm going." He wasn't just being a smart alec, he was dead serious. And constantly angry.
  12. Every time a new member posts, us mods get an approval request that is auto-generated by the board. I haven't seen any approval requests for PMs.
  13. Had a nice little work trip on Friday. Delivered a new eTransit to a client in the mountains. Loaded it up on the trailer and dropped it off right in their yard. Here it is, mid-January, in Jasper National Park, in the Canadian Rockies. Please note the almost total absence of snow. So much better than being in the office all day.
  14. These old wedges are just cool. Yours looks great!
  15. Would never be required because no one buying it will ever take it offroad. A few YouTube people will do some offroad videos for the likes, but that's about it. Just like those who buy the Audi Allroad, or Subaru Outback, or Tahoe Z71, or any Toyota with TRD Pro trim level, or any Ford Bronco, or 90% of Jeep Wrangler owners, etc.
  16. I believe it's 25 posts.
  17. Actually... When I started here two years ago, all we had were high end trucks and SUVs. Because" the cheap stuff doesn't sell." So then the two of us in the fleet department started bring in base level trucks. Instead of trucks with 20" wheels, and bucket seats, and Sport packages, and moonroofs, we brought in work trucks. Vinyl floors, 17" wheels, very little fluff. Most in white, some black. And we sold them before they arrived, so we ordered more. We now have about 130 trucks in stock, and about half of them are basic work spec. And we stock the base model Bronco Sports, Escapes, and Edges. Lo and behold, these cheap vehicles sell as fast if not faster than the high end stuff. Even my truck, I now drive an XLT trim, not the Lariats I've had in the past. I used to like all the fluff, now I just don't care. Wifey's vehicle is another story. Of course...no one really does a basic-transportation entry-level car anymore. Even our cheapest, most basic no-option vehicle with still have power windows/mirrors/locks, bluetooth, AC, remote entry, alarm system, etc. In fact, I think the Jeep Wrangler is the only vehicle you could buy right now that can still have crank windows, no AC, manual transmission, steel wheels, no power windows or mirrors., etc. Good luck finding that trim level on a dealer lot though. We digress though... As an aside, Ford are getting in on the offroad car thing too. Next spring, we get the Mach-E Rallye. Can't forget Subaru as well and their line of Outbacks and Crosstreks and the Wilderness trim level.
  18. Yeah, as a long time Porsche fan, I knew the history. But the 959 was designed and built to race and compete. The 911 Dakar is a marketing trim level. So is the Lambo.
  19. I don't understand this whole "make a sports car a truck" thing. Porsche did it too.
  20. Well, you don't because we don't sell anything here.
