  1. Yes, it looks really good. Definitely lower the light bar. The gap is way too big, makes it look toyish. And if I might suggest. A light wash of black in the panel lines will help since the colour is so drab. David
  2. Good to know. Maybe someone from did catch it but only after the first run was complete and Revell decided to ship them anyways. Good to see them fixing issues. Now, for my above statement, still no revised decals. I've not checked this past week to see if anyone is doing any other version of the decals yet, or any aftermarket upgrades. Here's hoping the new year will show some aftermarket goodies for this kit.
  3. Small update. Made up some locator pins to attach the tracks to the stock brake rotors, not 100% accurate I'm sure, but alot easier for me. (sorry for the blurry pics) And from the side. More later, I hope.
  4. Looks good mate. I was thinking of getting one of these, and likely still will, but if there's that many fitment issues, I may not. Looking forward to seeing this one finished tho. Keep at it, might surprise you in the end. David
  5. Got my Mattracks in from Shapeways today for use on my RaptorTrax build. They look awesome.
  6. Same, I've been using PB for years and almost never any downtime or when there was past pics always showed in the threads. This last couple months tho they've had a ton of issues. Most notably, before yesterday and today, was the uploads and library access not working. I was having to reload the site multiple times ever time I switch from upload to library to get a link. Not good. Hopefully they get it up and running again soon, if not, have to start looking at a new hosting service. David
  7. I'd love to show them to you....but photobucket forgot how to work their site and seems they've been down for 2 days now. Anyways, small update. I've "hollowed" out some of the chassis around the rear axle and am in the process of filling it in with plastic card. But what I really wanted to show you was the Mattracks that came in from Shapeways today. They're amazing. They turned out better than I imaged. If they had of been half as good as they are I'd still of been happy. Close up of one. And a mock up of them on the truck. The truck is sitting too high atm, I just tossed a box underneath to see what they'd look like, and how they scaled out. The ride height will be abit lower once I make up some pins to attatch the Mattracks to the Raptor. The earlier pics are on photobucket so you cant see them right now, I've inserted these through the forum so hopefully they show up correctly. Comments and criticisms always welcome. David
  8. Update on my saga....its over, credits are rolling....got my paint in the mail today. I've placed many an order with Jameston over the last couple years, and had a delay last summer with his big end of summer sale, but he emailed me and told me what was going on. This time, not one word. Still nothing. I'm not going to bash him, life happens, I get it. Would of just been nice to be informed. Good luck to those that continue to buy from him, I truly hope no one else has these issues in the future. David
  9. Nice work Ismael. After seeing your mods, I think for my second one I'll do a updated 2016 version. Keep up the work. David
  10. Note that yes, those lights are clear, and likely off the 2015/2016 car. Back in 2014, when likely alot of the reference pics for this model were taken they were indeed black/dark tint. This shot is from Daytona 2014, clearly the rear lights are dark. Is this kit perfect? No, then point to one that is. Even if someone feels a specific kit is perfect, the next guy's gonna look at it and say it's missing xxxx. I agree the brake rotor slots being positive instead of negative is a big miss, yes someone somewhere along the line should of caught it. But its a pretty minor fix. Sand them off, paint the rotors dark metallic grey, like carbon brakes, put the wheels on and no one will know or for that matter likely be able to even seen them with the black wheels. The lights, yeah, it would of been nice, and I think they should of been, clear. That way you can either leave them clear and paint the red if you desire or paint them black if you're doing an older version of the car. All in all tho, all pretty minor issues. The one I dont like, and think is the most major issue with the kit....the decals....one car from a two car team is only represented. Also, the only car you can do is the Tudor series car, not the Le Mans car....this to me, is where Revell really dropped the ball. The kit should of had decals for the #3 and the #4 car as well as the #63 and #64. Still with these issues, I'm working on mine happily and will definitely be getting more. I'm sure Studio 27 will be doing some decal sheets, or maybe Mathew Wells from ScaleMotorSports will do correct decals and carbon sheets with some photo etch. David
  11. Didn't know they were available before. Where from? The ones I'm using are on Shapeways.com I just contacted the designer and had him scale them up to 1/25th scale. https://www.shapeways.com/product/Z6CBB3BEW/mattracks-front-1-25?optionId=61012289&li=ostatus Small update. Removed the tailgate, rear bumper and spare tire, since this beast doesnt need that kind of rubber. Shot of the chassis details. I think I'm going to remove the exhaust as well and just put a short exhaust pipe right off the muffler and leave it at that. The running boards will be removed at some point as well. More to come. David I'll also have to scratch up some shocks down the road, but I'll wait till I get the trax in. Forgot to add..... the cut out areas will be filled with plastic card.
  12. Chris, I'm gonna leave it curbside. The underside of the chassis on that particular kit is super detailed. The only real mods to the chassis at this time are first, since the truck has no tires, I dont need the spare under the box, I've already cut it out. ( I'll post pics in a bit.) And second, I'm going to "cut out" some of the material on the top side of the rear differential so it "floats" like it would on a normal model with a full detailed undercarriage. I'm also going to add the bars that stiffen the rear diff up to the chassis (sorry, proper name is eluding me at the moment). Also I have to extend the bash plate on the front of the chassis as it's abit different on the Raptortrax than on the stock truck. Any other changes I have to make I wont really know till I get the traxs in from Shapeways and see how they line up and look. David
  13. Update on my order. I sent another email on Friday night, a forward of my actual Paypal invoice from Aug 14th. and still got no reply. Then late Sat, night I got an email from Paypal saying my package was on the way. It was just a notice with a USPS tracking number. As of tonight, my package is in Reno and on the move via USPS. Still no email of any kind from Jameston. That is and will be my last order from him. I know its a side business and he works long hours at his real job, but 3 fulll months without being able to send 1 email....not acceptable. I had no expectations of getting my order fast as I knew his schedule and knew he was moving, but no communication at all is just poor CS. Pretty much all my orders going forward will be with Gravity Colors. Mate Mayer is an excellent person to deal with. I've had numerous conversations with him via email and instant messaging through Facebook and he always replies super fast. Orders ship quick and their paint is excellent. Might be abit more expensive than Scale Finishes, but Im not waiting 3 months for an order. Moving Sale......Customer Moving On. David
  14. Thanks Mike. They definitely have some of the items I'm looking for. David
  15. After seeing this back in 2014 I knew I had to build one. I love the Raptor and this thing is just so beastie. So onto the start... First, this is going to be a slow build as I round up parts/paint and extras for it. But I've started on it none the less so I can pick away at it as parts arrive. Starting point. Revell's lovely 2015 Raptor snap kit. Loads of detail inside and out will make for a great curbside build. Step 1, body mods. Removed the front bumper and rear roll pan, working on the tailgate now. These are the tracks by Mattracks used on the RaptorTrax And I'm in the process of having some replicas printed up from Shapeways. That's it for now, paint will likely come from Gravity Colors. Decals will be a mash up of part box leftovers and some Ken Block rally car decals from Ebay or other online vendor. More to come. Comments and criticisms always welcome. David
  16. Anyone know of a vendor that carries things like chainsaws, axes, shovels, coolers, bbq's, led lightbars etc in 1/24-1/25 scale? Any links appreciated. David
  17. This came in yesterday. And on Wednesday the post man dropped off this Now I just have to wait for Gravity Colors release of their Polo paints/decal/masks for the 2015 Red Bull livery which just dropped today. This is going to be a nice project for the long winter months. David Not sure why the pic flipped up, its the right way up on Photobucket..... weird.
  18. Welcome Back. I'll be watching. David
  19. I'm hoping too, I really like this livery. This came in today. No painting yet, its been damp and rainy here all day. Hopefully some paint this weekend tho.
  20. I've always gotten a reply from them, but that can take 6days--2wks. Then they tell you its another 4-6wks for delivery but I generally get them in about 10days from the email and I live in Canada. If they deny your request, ie asking for too many parts or its a really old kit, they'll email you on that too.
  21. YUMMY!!!
  22. Fixed the chassis pan. Glued it to the interior tub and its straight now. Stuck at this stage while I wait for my paint to arrive from Gravity Colors. With hurricane Matthew it looks like post out of Florida is really slow as they get back to normal. My order was shipped on the 8th and it just left Miami yesterday afternoon at 1pm. Any ways, couple mock up shots. Nothing more to report till I can paint. Hopefully I can get some colour on it this week. David
  23. Welcome back. Will be watching this one. Personally not a huge Firebird fan but I do like the '68's. David
  24. Just a couple? I'm thinking the same thing. A couple, or maybe six. Looks really good in the instructions. I'll be picking up one as soon as they're available. I can already see all the changes I'm gonna make to one. David
  25. What image hosting service you using? I use photobucket. In the last 5yrs, never had an issue with posting pics. It's free but for like .99 cents a month you get rid of ads.
