  1. This will be my second NASCAR build in over 17yrs. The first is on going at the same time as this while I await the arrival of parts and decals. I'm shooting for the "pre-race" version of the eventual winner of the Daytona 500 in 2016. First a shot of the car, pre-race. And Denny with it afterwards. I'm starting with Powerslide's Camry resin body from Mike's. The resin if very decent. Not overly think, but a bit thicker then a production kit, but relatively smooth on the inside. The detail is nice and crisp, panel lines are deep, but do need minimal work to even out some differences in depth. Windows and hood need to be cleaned up. Over all a very nice body with no more work needed than a lot of production kit bodies prior to paint. Also from Mike's, Powerslide decals for Denny's car....first time using their products and the decals look amazing. Crisp, clean and vivid colours. More from Powerslide, gauges, NACA ducts and engine goodies. As well as a sheet of modern goodies too. Again, all from Mike's. As a donor kit I'll be using a 2006 Monte Carlo also supplied by Mike. And some shots of the body. The only issue that needs attention at this point is the bottom of the rockers, they're a little uneven and will need to be sanded flat...no big deal. Very nice under-hood detail on this kit. There's some small imperfections on the outside of the body that need some clean up which is no biggie, quick and easily sanded off. Well that's it for now. I plan on getting started on this right away so I should have another update later today. Still waiting for some more small parts to arrive but I have enough to get started. Thanks for looking. David
  2. Nice work Mark. Great mods, and nice work on the decals. What/how do you make your Shark Fins? I got a couple NASCAR kits coming up and need to learn how to make those. Thanks
  3. Well we'll find out soon. I ordered them on the weekend, usual delivery time from Australia to Canada is 12-14 days.
  4. Nice colour, I like it. I remember that show...kind of....always liked it. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more. David.
  5. HAHAHHAHHAHAHA $8 I WISH.....try living north of the border. I bought a kit from a guy on ebay, here in Canada a couple weeks ago. He only lives a little over an hour drive away, shipping was $15+ CDN via Canada Post. That's without a tracking number. I know price varies on size and shape but I'd love to be paying $8 for a kit to be shipped to me within my own country. The only reason I bought that kit and paid the shipping was the seller had a ridiculously low buy out of $9 CDN. I think the actual charge to me was $16+$9 for the kit so $25. Even if I go to Micheals and use a 40-50% off coupon with my gas the $25 for a kit shipped was still a small deal. Now had shipping been $8 would of been a really good deal. For those that complain about $8 for domestic shipping Ray.....tell 'em to take a long walk off a short pier. David
  6. I've tried it a couple time with my old airbrush which had a .35mm needle and I had trouble spraying it straight from the bottle, even thinned I had issues with clogging, didnt thin it enough. I've got a new airbrush now, but have yet to try it with the new one. I've got a bunch of colours I'd like to use but havent taken the time to try them lately. Let us know how you make out and what you find works.
  7. Here Mike. https://scenesunltd.com/collections/all/dually-panels
  8. huh..... I was there last night and didnt find them..do you remember which section you found them under? maybe I was looking in the wrong spot.... thanks very much EDIT....NVM I found them, didnt realize he sectioned the NASCAR stuff off by car #'s. I've only ever bought sports car decals from him and they're under the car manufacturer or team name, so I was looking in the wrong sub section. Thanks Steve. David

I'd say he had a little bit of trouble....still a nice win. As they say, there's really only one lap you need to lead. Nice build Neil, looks really good. David
  10. Guys, I'm not a NASCAR guy, but as a Christmas gift I got one of the "new" Revell snap kits. So, I've decided I'm going to build it. I've been looking at pics from last season and decided on, if I can find a source, this livery from Roush Racing. Does anyone know an aftermarkt source for these decals? I've been looking but no luck as of yet, but since I dont know NASCAR stuff well I figured it might be easier to ask. So if you know of a vendor or manufacturer that carries them, please post here or PM me. Thanks David
  11. I got a couple camaro's in the works, could easily show case them here too. Good idea. David
  12. Nice work on the 2015. And yes, still cant believe Revell has not produced a full kit of this yet considering they have basically done every year of the previous generation with a full detailed kit. As for another detailed option for the 2014 car, Plamoz has a 2013 TK for the Shelby GT 500. Based off the 2010 Shelby kit, it updates the exterior and engine wheel/tires to the 2013. I robbed the some of the interior parts from a 2013 Boss 302 cause its closer to the Shelby than the 2010 kit. All in all a nice TK for the money. http://plamoz.com/products/125-2013-gt500
  13. Yep, you're right. That's what I get for trying to be clever before I'm fully awake. Next time I'll finish my morning tea first.
  14. Ok girls.....no fighting. You're both right. I dont watch the show anymore so I dont know which season Sam switched, but during the first few, he did drive the SRT, this from season 3 I believe was the caption on the photo I found. And now for season 8, it definitely looks like the Hellcat, Now kiss and make up and be BFF's again. Just kidding.....looking forward to more of your build....love the little story. David
  15. Hey guys. I'm about to build my first Big Rig. I picked up one of Revell's Pete 359's at Michaels last night for a steal. I've decided to add some extra details to this kit as its pretty simple in comparison to other truck kits I've seen. I'd like to make it look like the Optimus Prime Pete 359, minus the paint scheme. So I'm looking for either an aftermarket source for the following parts. 1: Bumper 2: Tanks on the side of the hood. 3: Back Rack (not sure of the proper name for this part) 4: Fenders. If possible I'd prefer to get all the items from one vendor, if it can be done. Or trades from a member would be fine too. I'd also prefer parts to be resin, if aftermarket, so I can paint them as I have a minimal chrome paint scheme I want to do. Kit parts from someones parts box is fine as I can strip chrome easily enough. I dont know the aftermarket suppliers well enough to know who's still in business or not. I've found a few items from online vendors but I just dont know how current they are. Any and all help greatly appreciated. David
  16. Nice Tim. Definitely my fav Mustang of all time. Thanks for showing the set up for your opening doors. What do you use for the hinge itself? Any chance on a small tutorial on the material and the bending? If the '68's any indication, another great build coming our way. Looking forward to more. David
  17. Very nice Bruce. X3.....leave it, a bada$$ beater will look great. Fix the roof posts, slam it down with some modern wheels/rubber and a a ratrod feel to the paint, should be sweet.
  18. Gary, I dont and havent used Amazon, but if you want to order from Asia, some good ones are, Hobby Search http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/ Hobby Link Japan https://hlj.com/ Media Mix Hobby https://www.mediamixhobby.com.sg/shop/index.php Im sure there are others. I've used all three and never an issue. I like Media Mix cause alot of the time he has items that others are sold out on. He's in Singapore so shipping's a little be longer, usually 14 days or so to Canada but all is packaged safe and I've never had a bad experience. David
  19. Ryan, Order with confidence. I've ordered from Hiroboy many, many times. Great service, and quick shipping. Fastest from them is an order Sunday night EST, shipped out Monday from England, at my door Friday morning. Most of the time its about 10-12 days tho. Good luck David
  20. A couple years ago I picked up a big box of model kits/supplies from a guy at a garage sale. He gave modeling a go, didnt like it as much as he thought he would, so I picked up all his kits and supplies for about $25. All the kits had be started and most just became parts for the parts box(s) yep, many more than I'll ever admit to having, but some were only lightly started. This kit is one of those. Hosted on Fotki Box is in good shape and the kit looks to all be there. Decals are in really good shape, I should of put them in a bag but never did, hopefully they're ok. Hosted on Fotki The body and a few other parts were glued together, not perfect, but not terrible either. Seeing the "bombs" that were some of his other kits, this must of been one of the last ones he started cause its miles better by comparison. The body has bee sanded some, and most of the mold lines removed. I'll go over everything and clean it up, then prime and prep the body for some colour this weekend I hope. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Maybe an update later tonight. Comments and criticisms always welcome. David
  21. Revell has an announcement on this kit on their FB page. Good new for those that have the kit.
  22. Looks really good Mike. If I might? Redo the pics and lose the orange/yellow back drop, it kind of kills the red. While or black to make the red stand out, that colour kind of washes the red out to my eyes. David
  23. Mail man was good to me today. Fresh off the Canada Post truck. 1. Replacement chassis for the warped one I got in my Revell Mercedes AMG GT Hosted on Fotki 2. Some Scale Productions CF decals from Tom@TheScaleModerler.com Hosted on Fotki 3. And the beautiful Corvette C7R 2014 Pratt and Miller test mule decals from Scale Motorsports. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  24. Thanks Karl, I had sent several emails as well and never got a response, I'll have to call him this week.
