  1. Some other updates. Wheels and tires ready to be installed. Chassis rolling. And done.
  2. No, the NSX GT3 and the GT500 NSX arent the same spec car, at all. I just meant that give in the past Tamiya has done a lot of the GT 500 cars , their previous NSX racers, it was likely that they'd do that before the GT3 car. But, yes, if Honda can get a decent number of teams world wide running the NSX GT3 car, I could see Tamiya doing one of those as GT3 is becoming more and more popular. And with the different association pushing for cars to have similar specs so that they can be run in more than one series its good for anyone who likes sports car racing. I'd love to see McLaren's, Genetta's and other brands not in IMSA raced over here. Broadening the fields will only make for more entertaining racing.
  3. Likely the headlights on the box art are from the 2016 car when it was first released. The ones on the green car are either the 2017 or aftermarket updates that are very new and not from the factory. But that's a guess on my part. The Acura GT3 might not be a pipe dream. As of now there is Micheal Shank racing in the IMSA series, not sure about who in Europe might be running them, but I just read a press release that Honda/Acura will be selling the NSX GT3 as a customer car in 2018. I think they were hoping for 20 teams world wide. If I can find the article I'll post it up. IF that happens, Tamiya could do it, since they already have the rights to the street car. And its being used in the Super GT series in Japan, so a Super GT version might not be out of the realm of possibility. I am actually surprised that the AMG GT3 is up before a Super GT NSX. Should Tamiya do either, I'll get a couple of each. And I'll be getting a couple of these AMG GT3's anyways. Lots of cool liveries. Especially in the European series. Thanks James, I stand corrected. I was sure I heard a couple broadcasters mention that the M6 was going to be replaced by the M8. And the M6 is a GTE and a GT3 car. Just watched the 24Hrs of Spa last weekend and Rowe was running the M6 GT3 in the Pro class...which the won last year, no so good this year...5th I think over all. There were also a couple others in the Pro-Am and Am classes too. But its good that they'll keep them around. I like the M6, nice looking car. As much of a Ford GT fan that I am I dont really consider the Ford a GT3 car...its a GT1 car. It looks like it fits in better the GT1s from the late '90s better than the GTLM's of today. Anyways. I for one welcome another GT car to the grid. No matter what any manufacturer puts out, someones always going to be unhappy. If its a vintage car, the race guys feel left out, if its a race car the muscle car guys feel left out. Hopefully one day, every manufacturer will put out exactly the right kit at exactly the right time that makes everyone feel exactly the same.....yeah holding my breathe on that one.
  4. Like paint, it will strip the oils from your skin, leaving your skin dry and flaky. The longer you have your hands in it the worse it would be. Quite quickly your hands will look wrinkled like you had them in the tub for a while. Just wear gloves. Dispose of use product responsibly. Build some models. David
  5. Nice start. I just got one of these too. But I have so much other stuff on the go I need to finish some of them up before starting another WiP. Looking forward to more.
  6. I get that Ebay is an open market, and a vendor can sell their goods for whatever price they choose. But sometimes. I just have to shake my head, and wonder how Ebay can let their vendors try to rob people. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Revell-85874700001-MNT-1-24-2017-Ford-GT-15-RMX85874700001/362038470148?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140620091118%26meid%3Db568a1a01ebd40c6b97a79c37c751c23%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D352101078179 He has several other adds up, probably more, that have shipping to Canada ranging from $79 CDN, to over $100. Of course I'd never purchase anything from someone so shamelessly crooked, I just wish people like this didnt exist. Guy's like this are what gives anyone remotely associated a bad name.
  7. Working the mods for my wheels. Wheel 1, stock. Wheel 2, wheel back center pre-drilled. Wheel 3, center of wheel back removed. Wheel 4, wheel back center and pin glued to back of wheel front. I also shaved down the center piece which reduces its height and will allow the wheel to sit back further on the brake rotor moving the wheel farther inside the wheel well. Also this mod will allow the brake discs to be visible through the wheel fronts. Off to the paint booth with these shortly.
  8. Actually Jonathan, your kits arent coming from Free-Time. Sadly they've been diverted intransit to North of the border. Sorry.
  9. You wont be disappointed. Out of the box they're amazing. Revell has done a great job. As with any kit there are a few things you can pick at but they're pretty small. And can be fixed if you choose to. I'm about 90% done on my first build, just wheels and tires left to go and I'm really happy with the kit. I just have to decide what to do with the second one. I hate waiting too. Had to wait a week for my first one to come up from the US. Second one is coming from a Canadian vendor but none of my LHS have any as of yet and likely wont get some for awhile. They always seem to get things slowly.
  10. There is one, not counting diecast. Airfix did a quick build lego style kit that is pretty close to 1/24 scale, not exact but really close. If you take their kit and add in wheels/tires from the Motormax diecast you can get a really nice curbside kit. This one was done by David Thibodeau. Looks really good.
  11. Jonathan is probably right. I'd love a full detail engine, but I dont have my hopes up. It will likely be a curbside with very nice detail and a great interior. And my guess is they will have a supplemental PE set and maybe, fingers crossed, a carbon fibre sheet too, like with the FXX/K models. Here's hoping. I for one am extremely happy about this kit. I'm a huge GT race car fan, just spent the weekend watching the GT3's tear up Spa for 24hrs, so another GT kit to add to the sables is awesome. It should look good with the BMW M6 GT3 from Platz, if they ever release it. Latest update I got from HobbySearch on my pre-order is Sept now. That'll be 11 months from the original expect release date...if they dont hurry the new BMW M8 GT3 car will be competing at the tracks before they get it on the shelves. With Profil 24 now working on the Labre Competition C7-R art car from Le Mans this year and the Ford GT already done, its been a good year for GT racers. I'd also like to see a McLaren 650 GT3 and a newer Audi R8 GT3, a Aston Martin Vantage would be nice too, but its at the end of its life span and a new car is suppose to be coming next year. Labre C7-R.....yummy
  12. Cool question Jonathan. For me, the Revell Ford Raptor kits. I've got something like 7 of them, and every time I go to Michael's I'm tempted to pick up another. But now, I think these new NASCAR kits are going to take their place for awhile. I'm just about done my first one and believe it or not, I've not touched another kit since I've started Fusion. This is a first for me in like, forever. My second ones is due to arrive tomorrow and I can see myself ordering another one or 10 before long. Still pretty far off from ordering a case of them tho....
  13. NICE. I need to order myself some of those wheels and PE for one of my 787's....yet another potential WiP on the ever growing heap.
  14. Ok JC. You need to do a tutorial on how to build a rollcage with pics and materials list cause this thing is a work of art, easily one of the best scratch built rollcages I've ever seen. I agree Tom. One of the reasons I started rounding up parts for mine was seeing this. I'm a Mustang guy, and been wanting to do one of the '70 Boss' for a long time. This thread has inspired me to get cracking on it. I just need to finish up the 100 or so WiP's I have on the go first..... Awesome JC. More please. David
  15. Decals about 95% done. Just need to add a few detail decals off of the Powerslide Goodies sheet. Engine ready to be dropped in. OOB with valve cover decals from the Powerslide Engine Goodies set. Chassis work tomorrow.
  16. Really nice JC. I'll likely do exactly the same thing. I'm using pretty much the same method on the new Fusion glue kit. Same thing, decent looking brake discs hidden by the wheel back so I hollowed the wheel backs out and used the outer ring to connect to the front half just like you have here. Looking forward to more JC.
  17. With the release of the new glue Fusion's and work on the body mods stalled, I decided to just use the first of my new glue kits to on this project. I'll still use the snapper, eventually, but for now some progress. Paint is Scale Finishes black base coat and I'll be using a floor wax over the Patto's Place decals, it's not future but an industrial version made by Johnson's. The decals aren't a perfect fit, the side looks good, but the roof decal isn't 100% lined up with the roof flaps, but its close enough that I can live with it. Decals are a mix of kit (light/vents) and Patto's so far. I will add some of the Powerslide decals from Mike's to the windows/tire etc as I go. For now, a couple progress shots. Thanks for looking. Hoping to finish the decals later tonight.
  18. Just placed my first order with Randy early this morning. Already got an email w/tracking info. Something like a 4hr or less turn around. Thanks Randy.
  19. Nice work JC. I'm planning on one of these too down the road. I'm starting with the '70 Bud Moore Mustang first. Just ordered a set of those Minilites for mine. They look fantastic. I think maybe a late '60's early '70s Trans Am group build sounds good? Looking forward to your next update. David
  20. I do the exact same thing with a tea strainer for small parts, so nice not to have to fish around inside the puddle for those little things.
  21. A plastic tub with a lid and the stuff will stay viable for a long time. You definitely get your monies worth out of Super Clean. I've not used Purple Power but there was another thread here not that long ago where someone else compared the two and felt that Purple Power wasnt as good as Super Clean. SC here in Canada is about $15 for a 4L jug when its on sale, $20 normally. I've not seen Purple Power here, but I havent looked for it either, since I find SC works so well I just stick with it. Tho I find on the predecorated kits that Revell has put out, SC dosent work on them, but IPA works like a charm.
  22. Greg, Dont dump it. It will last quite awhile. I've stripped about 10-12 bodies/complete builds, along with another 20 or so chrome trees and mine still works. I think this bath is getting pretty close to a year old now. If memory serves I swapped it out last Sept/Oct from the previous batch. Just get a container with a lid. I use a rectangular no name Tupperware one from the dollar store. Its about the size of a lasagna dish but a little deeper. The stuff pulls oils from the paints or you hands so make sure you're wearing gloves. I just use the same Nitrite gloves I use when I airbrush but be warned, they too with start to deteriorate if you keep your hand in the Super Clean for any length of time. I will use a toothbrush to break the surface tension on the older paint, you'll find this will help as the bath gets older. Then, I just pull my parts out, once clean and put them in a tub then go to the bathroom and put some Sunlight dishsoap along with some warm water and let the parts soak then scrub again with an old toothbrush then rinse off and let air dry. For disposal, I'll save the old empty jug and poor it back into it when it's time to renew. As stated above you can strain it from time to time as you'll get clumps of paint and sediment in the bottom of your container. My used stuff goes into the garage till I'm making a dump run and I dump it with the toxic materials my local dump has. Usually in the spring they have a weekend where you can drop off old paints etc for free. Time in the pond will vary pending on the paint used. Also good to have is a bath of isopropyl alcohol (IPA), 90% + , lower percentages dont seem to work at all, or very well. I get 93% from Target when I'm over in the US. Again, lasts a long time, same process as Super Clean. One notable exception. DO NOT USE IPA on resin. It will soften the resin up and make it gummy. Super Clean is safe to use on resin, well any of the resins I've used it on, HRM, Studio 27. MFH, LMM Jimmy Flintstone. If unsure about a specific brand of resin ask before using anything on it to strip paint.
  23. Nice pairing Ash. Both will go well with some Burnt Asphalt. David
  24. Michaels (Canada) has a 50% off coupon up right now, good for yesterday and today only...(July 19 & 20) Not sure about the US stores. Just wish the one closest to me had more selection, havent seen any "new" stock rotate in in like a year, they just keep restocking the shelves with the same kits over and over.....I was sure I had bought them out by now.
  25. Picked this up at Michael's today, 50% off coupon good for yesterday and today.
