  1. Very Nice Jonathan.
  2. Starting this new build this week. Going to be pretty much OOB with the exception of the decals. I'll be using Patto's Place decals. So starting with this kit I picked up at HL on my trip over the border this weekend, And adding Patto's Place decals (this is an early shot of the sheet, Bruce has corrected some of the missing decals already) And in hopes, we'll end up with something that looks like this Bruce's decals are designed for his slot car bodies he makes, so here's hoping that they'll fit the Revell kit. He's scaling it to 1/25 scale and the decals have been ordered so I have about 2 weeks to get the body prepped and ready to decal. I have the next couple days off so I'm hoping to get a good jump on the chassis today. I lightly started this kit early this morning after getting home from work, so I'll post some progress pics later this morning. Now it's time for some sleep.
  3. You guys are lucky. You have a wider range of options for getting kits in the US. Aside from a LHS the only place I know of anymore that carries model kits is Michael's. Michael's normal prices for kits (glue) Revell, AMT is $30-38 CDN so with the %40 off coupon you're usually around $20-25. LHS are in the mid to hi $30 range now (with NO coupons), and import kits...well hold on.. my LHS has Aoshima McLaren F1 GTR kits at $97 CDN.....the same kit I ordered from FreeTime for $15. Now that was on clearance mind you....but that is a HUGE price gap. I just got a C7R kit this weekend from Hobby Lobby in Amherst NY. List price was $26.99 with 40% off and tax came to $17.19 or so US, in CDN $$'s that's $20.84, about what it would be at Michael's with their 40% off coupon. If only Michael's had some new stock. I think it's been pretty close to a year since anything "new" has hit the Michael's inventory, newest kit being the Starsky and Hutch Torino and others out around that time. I would love to have more stores to choose from up here for buying kits.
  4. Just got an email from Mark from MS Hobbies and he's just announced that he has acquired and will be producing Quick Skin kits. He's done 1 or 2 with them already in the past but going forward it looks like he'll be releasing many of their kits. Here's a list from the email... Cadillac LMPAudi A4 Touring CarFord Probe GTPFord MaxumBMW E30Goodwrench Corvette GTPBudweiser Corvette GTP1982 IMSA Camaro1982 IMSA FirebirdAlso, not listed here, but I just emailed to check will be the E36 BMW M3 GT IMSA racer, which I'm extremely happy about as I've been wanting one of these, along with the Cadillac LMP for a long time.
  5. Was at Hobby Lobby in Niagara Falls NY today, and looks like they have reset their kits. Picked up this for $17 and change with their 40% off coupon. Now I have to decide if I want to spend the money on a Scale Motorsports Super Detail set for it. It's expensive but looks stellar.
  6. Nice Ash.....guess I have to finish mine from the 24hr build now.....thanks man, just what I needed....peer pressure. All kidding aside, really nice job an a pretty mediocre kit. Nice work on the seat too.
  7. Dan, My "LHS" carries all sizes. If you cant find anything local PM me and I'll get you her contact info, she'll ship. I got mine on Amazon and the price was reasonable including shipping. Her prices are higher, but if you cant find another source. Let me know. David
  8. There was a post in General on this just last week, but I'm having issues with him, again, too. Contacted him a couple weeks back for a colour and got immediate replies, at the end he said he could do the colour I wanted and would send an invoice later that night. I added in a couple of his stock colours from the site and since then have heard nothing back. No email, no invoice no replies to 3 emails I've sent asking for the invoice he said he'd send.....not sure what to make of it. I know he has a full time job and gets swamped sometimes but he definitely seems to be hit or miss. Good luck..I'm still waiting.
  9. This is going to be a fairly detailed long build. I'm really busy with work right now so I'm not getting as much time to build and when I do I'm pretty tired so I'm just picking away at a few projects. So, on with this one. Starting with And adding in Plamoz's gorgeous TK to update the base Revell kit from a 2010 SS to a 2014 Z28. There's something like 120+ parts not counting decals and clear parts. Expensive TK but his workmanship is second to none. And the details he adds to his TK's most wouldnt even think to add. Detailed pics of what's in the TK can be seen HERE. I didnt take any pics of the individual parts but he has them listed on his site, so feel free to check them out. I've had this for a couple weeks now so, I have a little more progress done than the pics will show, I've just not taken any more pics as of late. First off was to start removing the stock body parts in preparation for the beautifully casted updates. As nice as this TK is, and its really nice, I've encountered an issue. Shrinkage. Unfortunately the parts are very thin and delicate but well detailed and it seems that some of them have shrunk. Now this is not uncommon with resin and it isnt terribly hard to fix, in a perfect world everything would fit 100%, but alas we dont live in that particular Utopia. So there is some extra work required. The bumpers and rear deck fit with no issues or shrinkage but the ground effect parts definitely shrank some. So I split the rockers and front spliter attached the corners then filled in the gaps as you can see in the pics. (front spliter isnt done in the pics, but I've since filled it in too. Rocker are done but will need some tweaking before primer.) The hood will need some work too, again it's shrunk as well but the shape is correct so just some thin evergreen stock around the outside and some sanding will fix that. I plan on leaving that till last. I want to get the rest of the body prepped first. In this shot you can see that the wheel arch flares have also shrunk, again not a big issue to fix I just havent gotten to it yet. ( GRRRR this is not the correct pic. For some reason the site keeps linking in the one from above even after I delete it and add in the proper one. I'm not sure why but I'll keep trying to fix it, sorry for the double pic, this was not what was suppose to show up in this space.) (OK now its fixed, the below pic is the correct one. For those that think I'm nuts, I've edited this about 9 times to get the correct pics to show in the right spots.....I'm really only a little bit crazy.) I've started on some other parts, interior and some of the engine/chassis so far but no pics. I'll likely take some more in the morning and update again. This is also my Cannonball Run entry for this year in the CBP section incase you've seen these pics already. I'll put more pics here than in that thread. Thanks for looking. Comments and criticisms always welcome.
  10. Good luck with Scale Finishes. I contacted Jameston 2 weeks ago for some paint, and we he replied almost immediately. A quick back and forth series of emails about the color I wanted and he told me he could do it no problem and would send me an invoice for it that night. I then replied I needed that color and a couple other stock items off his site, it's been 2 weeks, no invoice, no replies to emails....nothing..... good luck
  11. Body panels have been added, but unfortunately there was some shrinkage. The fit is really good for the most part and the shrinkage isnt hard to overcome. I've already fixed the rockers, but the front spliter is still yet to be filled in. I split the shrunken parts and then have/will fill in the gaps with some super glue and some of the left over resin sprue from the kit itself. Hoping to get the rest fixed up today and a first test coat of primer on it tonight. The hood has shrunk too, but a thin strip of styrene around the outer edge should fix that up np. Thanks for looking, more to follow.
  12. Came in today. Plamoz TK for the 2010 Camaro to update it to the 2014 Z28
  13. Parts for the Camaro arrived today......time to get to work. More later tonight
  14. OP what was the manufacturer of the resin? As stated above, DO NOT use IPA on resin, from what I've seen it will soften it up and cause it to lose its shape. I've used Super Clean on various types of resin with no ill effects, but again as stated above, depends on the resin used by the manufacturer. I've used SC safely on Studio 27 Model Factory Hiro, Historic Racing Miniatures, Le Man Miniatures and something else Im forgetting atm. Best course is if no one has used it safely on the brand you have, contact the manufacturer and ask them directly, if that is an option.
  15. Mustang I think will be a no brainer for Ford. If Chevy is going to run the Camaro, then Ford will have to go with the Mustang simply from a marketing standpoint. If Chevy is running a pony car, Ford will have to as well. As far as Toyota goes, resurrect the Supra brand and redesign it...well one can hope. Paint looks good Jonathan.
  16. Pending on what she's willing to spend, there will be an other option later this year. Plamoz will be doing 3 separate trans kits for the 2009 Revell Challenger kit. A Hellcat version, a widebody Hellcat and a Demon. He's working on the interior parts now. Year should be 2015/6 is my guess. It wont be cheap tho, his 2013 Shelby GT500 TK was $63 US, his newly released 2014 Z28 Camaro TK is $110 US. But his quality and workmanship is second to none. The Camaro TK has like 120 parts or more in it, I stopped counting when I got to the PE set. Other than that, Jeremy from Clearly Scale is also doing a Hellcat TK, some parts are ready now, but he's still redoing some of the molds. He lost just about all his masters earlier this year due to a bad shipment of resin, so he pretty much had to start over. Again, no cheap. The Foose predecorated kit is probably your best option cost wise. Just strip the paint and redo. Good luck
  17. Small update. Prepping the body for some goodies.
  18. Looks good Jon. I'm working on my second one, and I lowered it too, looks better. I think the adjustment bars look ok with the body on. Not nearly as large looking now.
  19. Update on the R8 Extreme. Due to some fitment issues with the chassis I've decided to retire that car from this years Cannonball. I have every intention to complete the car at some point, but just not this year. The frustration of not getting everything to fit and the cost of the TK, I dont want to ruin it by forcing things. I'll get it, but I need to cleanse my palate of the Audi. So I will still enter a car, but now I'm going with some 'Merican Muscle instead of some German Stealth, and will be entering the following: The car will not be stock. Mods to follow over the next couple weeks. It'll be a fictitious Limited Edition ride. Nice work on all the entries so far, lots of cool looking rides. David
  20. Looking good Jonathan. I think I have to agree with you on the tube sizing. The engine tubing definitely needs to be a bit smaller. I think the tubing on the chassis isnt too bad, and once the body is on it should be harder to tell, but one size down would likely looking better. Looking forward to more. David
  21. It'll remove the chrome really fast...with a fresh batch you can watch the chrome trail off almost instantly, but that clearcoat under neath can take some time. Generally I drop it in before bed and just remove and clean it off in the morning. Some older kits I've had it take a couple days to get all that clearcoat off.
  22. just pull it off, its like gum. Most of it will come with the first pull. If not, just take a ball of it and dab on what's left and it will pull off. Generally I try not to get too much paint on it, but even if it gets covered, once its balled up with more the paint just blends in. If its in a tight spot, like the inside of a wheel tunnel (where the rubber grommet would go on a Fujimi or Tamiya kit, I just use the end of one of the skewers or a toothpick to dig it out.
  23. BlueTac, StickyTac whatever name you know it by. I get mine at the $$ store. I use it to hold wheels on or other parts for test fitting. I also use it on attach small parts to the ends of skewers for painting. Once it looses its stickiness I just toss it. Cheap and readily available.
  24. My order came in today. Shipping was a bit slow, not Randy's fault...USPS seem to be taking its sweet time bouncing the package from sort center to sort center for some reason. HRM and Fireball parts, all perfect and destined for future builds. Thanks to Randy, top notch service. Keep it up.
  25. Calling this one done. Second finished model on the year. Time to try and finish off some of those just sitting around. Still room for improvement. A couple touch ups needed. But done enough for the shelf. Great kit. Revell did a nice job on these glue kits, and seeing as how fast they're selling, it seems more and more likely we might see a Toyota after the Chevy comes out in Oct. As with any kit there are some inaccuracies and room for improvement, but the kit is engineered well and goes together quite easily. Details of the build. Kit: Revell Jimmy John's Ford Fusion Decals: Patto's Place (designed for slot car, so they dont fit this body 100%, but not bad tho. Kit decals on the lights/vents, Powerslide Goodies on windows/tires/interior/engine. Paint: Body- Scale Finishes Black base. Chassis- Krylon Color Master Pewter Grey (decanted and airbrushed), also used Vallejo and Tamiya acrylics for details. Thanks for looking. Comments and criticisms welcome.
