  1. I'll be in Rob. I need to get back on my entry for this year...... Anyways, my two cents worth.. 1-- Race cars...its a race..full on race cars, any kind, NASCAR, Vintage, GT, Le Mans, F1, Moto GP (yes bikes), 2-- Vintage Rally...google Peking to Paris Rally.... these guys host other ones too. Rules for cars on their site, but basically its a vintage car, no 4x4s, turned into a rally car
  2. YEP..easy answer. Same car, same parts. SMS stuff fits good so does the Studio 27 decals. There's also decals from Tabu and HD detail sets/wheels lots of options. You can definitely go overboard.
  3. Mine's preordered. After seeing it in the video, I'll likely get a couple more. First one will be OOB and then I'll do more once I see who/what liveries get done aftermarket.
  4. Thanks for the replies guys. I was hoping for a few more, so I'm going to let this ride till this weekend. Then I'll do the random draws for names and post of the swap list. Once posted its up to you guys to exchange info. Feel free to discuss what your interests are if you're inclined to, but it should be a surprise. The sender can send something the other guy will like or be "mean" and force the recipient out of their comfort zone and build something they normally wouldn't. Once you get your "surprise" please post up a pic and lets us know what you think and what your plans are....remember you HAVE to build it. And let us know what you plan on doing with it. Remember, paint it and detail it like you normally would. Here's hoping for a few more people....ideally I'd like to get around 10 guys or more. So if you think you'd like to participate please post up.
  5. That's weird, Matthew is really quick with responses, never had to wait more than an hour. Try Facebook too, and check your spam folder just in case. I've never had an issue with responses from him, he's got amazing customer service.
  6. Anyone get an order lately? Still havent gotten an invoice for my order placed during his summer sale. Still no replies to my emails either. If anyone has regular contact with him could you pass along that I've been trying to reach him. Thanks David
  7. WoW JC..just WoW. I love it. Morpar please.
  8. The guy that build the one in the video shown earlier in the thread did that. TS42? if I remember right. I'll probably do the same as here in Canada it likely wont be till the new year before anyone has any of these let alone the paint for it.
  9. Mark is a great guy to deal with. His prices are competitive and often even better because he offers package deals. I got my Belkits VW Polo rally car kit along with the HD detail set for the Polo as a package from Mark. Total savings was about $20 US over buying them separately from any online vendor I could find. Even compared to Ebay he still came out cheaper.
  10. Yes, IPA ruins HRM resin, almost did that to my Cobra Coupe body. Castrol Super Clean ( Super Clean) is safe. Other things might be, but I know CSC is safe for sure, but, if you're hesitant just keep an eye on it.
  11. Went shopping in the "big city" today and hit up both Michael's there cause they had a 50% off coupon. Used one at each store and picked up a couple more Shelby Mustangs for my collection. '67 from the first, hadnt seen one there in like almost 2yrs, it must of been buried in the back or on a top shelf and they just found it. With tax, $20 '66 from the second, again, havent seen one of them at a Michael's for awhile now, must of been hidden somewhere. With tax, $18. Two nice Mustangs for less than $40...I'm happy. Both stores tho had very little left in stock for model kits, and what they did have were 1-3 kits of each. Hopefully with HL getting some new stock Michael's in the US will update their stock and then send some fresh stuff North.
  12. Plamoz' wheels are a direct fit to the kit tires, unless he sells them as a set with tires, ie the Revell AMG and McLaren for example which have wheels and tires. How are the Shelby hubs? They looks fantastic, they're definitely going to be in my next order.
  13. Could someone post pics of the flyer or if they happen to go to one today post up some pics/list of what they are carrying please? I am going over to the US on Friday maybe and if they have some decent kits for sale it may just solidify my decision to make the trek over the river. Thanks
  14. Kit looks fantastic. I was going to get one, now I think it will be more like four. I was hoping for a PE/Detail Up set but havent seen anything listed anywhere yet. Anyone else? I'm sold. Looks like a winner from Tamiya. Here's hoping this is a resurgence from them with race cars. I'd love to see them do the Ford GT, Corvette C7R, the new Aston and the new Porsche.
  15. Ok guys. I have an idea for a CBP. The basics are, you put your name in a draw (like a secret Santa) and the name you get you send a kit to, and they build it and post progress/finished builds here. Now, finer points. It wont be a secret. The name swap will be random, but who you get will be posted here. For example, Tom and Bill's names are picked. Tom and Bill will PM each other their shipping info and mail each other a kit. The kit should be a surprise. You can discuss likes/dislikes but ideally you're going to get a "present". By agreeing to participate you are agreeing to build what you get, no matter what, even if its something you would never buy and build on your own. Kit's should be in the $15-20 range, new and unstarted (lightly started if you tell the person that it is and they are ok with it...no pics, just "Bob I got a kit, the engine is glued together but nothing else is started. Michael's/Hobby Lobby kits are good, with the coupons you're coming in around the price mark. Kits should be full kits...no simple snappers, curbsides are fine too as long as they arent too simple...a curbside race car with lots of decals would offset no engine/suspension. Automotive kits should be up for swaps, however, if you PM your recipient and they are ok with a plane or something non automotive than that would be fine. This idea was born out of the Pay It Forward thread in the Trading Post section, but instead of moving kits you have multiples of for a kit you dont have to pad out the stash, these would be built. Time frame would be about 6 months, first month to get the list up and filled out, 5 months to build up kits. OOB is more that fine for level of detail. You can add extra details if you like but the idea is to build what you get fairly quickly. Please keep in mind that you're paying for shipping, to your recipient, so if you dont want to ship outside your own country please let me know. For those in Europe or Australia or elsewhere, I would try to match you up with someone close to home to keep shipping down to a minimum. For me, I'm fine with shipping to the US since it's pretty much the same price within Canada as it is to go to the continental US. If this is something you feel you might be interested please post a reply up here with your country included. If you dont want to ship internationally PM me and I'll make sure you're partnered with someone "local". If you dont, I'll assume cross border is ok. If you have any suggestion please post them up too. David
  16. Another Hobby Lobby run today....another C7R.....I like this kit and a couple bottles of Vallejo blacks . Will likely do this one up as the 2016 IMSA car like the box art but with the corrected areo package. And I'll probably get another one to go with the SMS set I'm getting myself for Christmas to do the Le Mans car.
  17. When I have to do conversions I use this site too.. super easy.
  18. Kit looks great. Will likely pre-order one from somewhere. From Hiroboy it'll be about $76 CDN including shipping. That's about what Tamiya kits go for here before taxes and the trip to the LHS so if I go buy one it would be around $110 with tax and gas....I'll order online. And since distribution to Canada is awful for the most part it wont be available here till likely December. Now the big thing is decals.....as nice as the factory livery is...I want something bold Like the Linkin Park Or maybe the Gulf Or maybe the Battlefield.... Or maybe, I'll just do all three....
  19. Wheels detailed.
  20. Thanks for the replies guys...I have a couple days off so going to try to get the body done by Wednesday. Small update on the Vette. Long work weekend and didnt get much time at the bench, but I did get a couple things done. Wheels are painted, detail painting to follow tonight. Hoping to get the decals done as well. I did manage to get the leader lights drilled out on the doors and I still have to cut out openings for the tow hooks, and roof antennas. I also drilled out a hole for the rear camera/radar system but still have to figure out how I'm going to scratch that up. More to follow later tonight.
  21. This is a link to Len Woodruff's Daytona Coupe and if memory serves me...which its doing less and less now a days, he used a gel pen. I've not tried this method. I've got more of IndyCals Blue Rings and I do have a set of Gold Rings along with some 1/25 Firestones that are going to end up on a MKiV GT40....some day. https://www.modelbuilderswh.com/collections/resin-kits/products/hrm-101-cobra-daytona-coupe
  22. I've used their Blue Ring ring ones, and they're good. They arent die cut, so you'll have to trim the outside as well as the inside. IndyCal suggests cutting the decals in half and then applying one side at a time. I can concur with this as trying to put them on as a complete circle was a challenge. Splitting them made it easier.
  23. Ismael, looking good man. Way to stick with it. I kinda put my first one aside too. I wasnt happy with the decals so I walked away before ruining it further. I may dust it back off now that I've got a second one on the go. I like the mods you've done so I'm definitely going to follow suite on most of them. Good luck on the decals and clear....you're due for some luck on this thing. David
  24. Thanks for the replies boys. Yes the decals look insane. Here's hoping they fit ok. I ordered a second set just in case I need to piece in some gaps. Small update, I filled in the hood opening, I think I made it a bit too big and will likely scale it back a touch. Other than that all I've done is dry fit many of the parts. I've read some fitment issues in other's builds and wanted to check out what needed to be massaged before painting. So right now I have the interior mostly done, no seat or details but they dont effect the fit of the body to chassis, dash and windscreen are in place as is the motor and airbox......and as luck would have it...it all fits just fine. Hopefully paint wont effect the clearances but so far I look to be ok. Mock up: I have the day off today again, so after getting my yard work done, I'm hoping to get onto primer and paint tonight and then let it all set up while I wait for decals to arrive.
  25. WoW you found a C7R at Michael's? I've not seen one there. I would of bought all of them had the ones local to me had any, ever. The kit isnt over the top fantastic but it is more than decent. I'll have to keep looking. I'm going to need another one, cause I think Im going to treat myself to a SMS detail set for Christmas.
