Revell '66 Surburban shown at NNL-East!
Jhedir6 replied to Art Anderson's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
You are correct, @3:31 of the video you can see the BF Goodrich on the side that gets the white wall inserts. The non white wall side had no tire logo's. Nice catch, and he did say they were unmarked. Nice looking kit. Thanks for the video, I'll probably have to pick one of these up. -
Matt, Thanks for the info, but I figured that already. When I ordered them from Bruce I get him to delete the back ground colour. I'll paint the car black, clear it then apply decals before doing another layer of Future over top, since his decals dont stand up to regular clear, or atleast according to him, he recommends using Future over his decals. I'll post a pic in a bit of the actual decal sheet I got printed.

You wont be disappointed. His stuff is so nice. Price is abit up there, but you get what you pay for. I mocked mine up with the new wheels/tires and man, does it look so much better than the kit parts.

Ok, so I got my decals in from Patto's and they're awesome. So I finally got some work done on this kit, atleast to the point of sharing some of it. This is my first NASCAR build in over 17yrs. I know I have a WiP going on for the Toyota but I actually started this one first. Starting with: And adding decals from Patto's Place I'm going for this: Shamelessly I'll be using all of MarkJ's ideas from his Fusion builds to update the base Revell kit. You can see them here http://randyayersmodeling.com/modelingforum/viewtopic.php?t=90098 So I added some rocker panels and filled in the stock exhaust openings. I also filled in the front grill. Still to come are the exhaust ports, and the lower vents in the front air dam. As well as the updated parking lights. I also used Mark's lowering technique to slam the car down to its current ride height. I think it really makes a huge difference on the over all appearance of the car, without any of the other mods. Some pics. Side: Left front: Right front: Hoping to get some more work done tonight and maybe on to paint tomorrow. Thanks for looking in, comment and criticisms welcome and appreciate. David

Rubber underneath the Camaro. Planning on finishing up the interior tomorrow.

My current Camaro project. '67 vintage SCCA racer clone. Built using the "new" Revell '67 Camaro. Mostly OOB, tires are from a 1/24 Shelby Mustang as are the Firestone decals. Wheels are also Shelby from Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland and decals are OOB along with a few extra from the parts bin. Paint is Dodge Viper Adrenaline Red from Scale Finishes (sorry GM guys, didnt have any red GM paint on hand). And for clear I am using an industrial version of floor wax. It isnt Future but a product called Diversy, also from Johnston's but its used in commercial settings, like a grocery store. Very strong and durable. I tried airbrushing it, but didnt like the looks so for now I've brushed it on. It's not perfect. I've got two coats on so far and I'm not 100% happy yet, it looks good, but not quite good enough. I do like the ease of use for this stuff. I just bought some new brushes to try with it, so hoping the third coat can smooth it out some more. Interior and chassis are still being painted so for now, the body. Front Rear Sides More later tonight I hope.

You're welcome Matt. And I just got mine in from Matt today. A big +1 for Matt too. TYVM.

Might not be exact, but looks pretty close to me. http://www.scaleproduction.de/product_info.php?info=p1905_19--speedline-corse.html

Nice work guys. Get them finished. Unfortunately, I'm not going to get done either. I was in good shape with 6hrs to go, so I decided to have a nap. I got back up with 3hrs left and since I've had nothing but issues with final assembly. I'm at the point where I want to toss it across the room, so I'm setting it aside and I'll come back in a day or two to finish it off. All the fiddly bits are being overly fiddly so this is where I'm at now. Thanks to Ash and Rene for joining in, and thanks to everyone that looked in. Now to finish watching the last 12 mins. David

Decals done. Time to clear. I need to pick up the pace.
-
Looking good Ash. I love that Papaya Orange. Keep at it. I'm plowing through the decals atm. Should be done with them in about another hour. Then I can clear and start working on the chassis/interior.
-
Looking good Rene. Got the Merc masked and painted now. Time to start decals. More in awhile.
-
Thanks Rene. Working on masking, since the decals are for a Porsche and not a Merc I'm having to go slow to get things masked properly. Great work on the GT-One, looking fantastic. Looking forward to seeing more soon.
-
Paint on the body is fix, just letting it cure up before masking it for the secondary colour. I'm going to be using the following decals to make a "phantom racer", even though its an actual Le Mans livery, it's a Porsche livery and not a Merc one, but I'm going to use it anyways.
-
You're welcome. Paint update. Most of the painting done. I have a small goof on the body to fix then mask it and paint the secondary colour. Parts are resting in the paintbooth while I take the dog for a walk and get some fresh air. I'll do the fix when I get back and start on some decals. Colours used in the front. Scale Finishes primer, black, flat black, with Flying Lizards silver base and red accent (not done yet) with some Gravity Colors Ford Grabber Blue for the brakes and mirrors and some OZ gunmetal for the wheels.

Wayne, Eurosport is live streaming https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrM65PWsuAI they have commercials, about a mins worth every 20 or so, but its free. Jeez Rene, you've got colour on already? Nice progress. I'm letting my primer set up right now for a bit, then I'll get my first base coat down. Off to take the dogs out then back to the booth. Looking forward to more guys. David
-
Nice start Ash. I've spent the first two hours getting parts clipped and cleaned up. Lots of little bits to attach to the body now off to the paint booth for some primer. More to come next hour. David

Yep, watching on Radio Le Mans on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHofZruKgTQ

WOW Jim. That looks fantastic. I was wondering who'd be the first to not paint one black. I was trying to think of a colour to go with....guess I'm not going with orange now. I just ordered mine the other day, looking forward to getting one now. Here's hoping it looks as good as yours. David

I booked the night off work. I'll be watching online the whole of the 24, minus breaks for food and taking the puppy out for pee breaks. I'll also be building a kit for the 24 too. Just to help pass the time.
-
Welcome Ash. Get what you can done. Its just for fun and to pass the time while the cars go around the track.
-
My entry. Will be OOB with possibly some extra decals from other kits added for a phantom racer. I'll have to see what I can dig up. Then I can decide on paint.
