I contacted Hobby Design to see if they were planning on doing a detail up set for this kit. The reply was, "possible later on". So hopefully they do put one out and the brakes can be corrected.

It's a really nice kit. Basic in the sense that there isnt a lot of parts, but the detail that is there is quite good. I plan on doing it it mostly OOB, but I will add some more CF decals and maybe some wiring on the interior tub for the electronics. I think I might weather it too, post race look. David

No, not this time around. Its only bowed inwards, up from the bottom a small amount. Once I glue the interior tub to the chassis is should straighten out. The chassis on my 918 was bent up, like the Corvette, but it was also twisted so I contacted Revell for a replacement.

Just got this yesterday. I've been excited about this one for awhile so I dove right in. First impression, an extremely well done kit. Bravo Revell. The engineering on it is great, much better than the C6.R, the fit and finish is much higher and the level of detail is also much higher. Another great thing is the ride height, the C5.R was aweful, the C6.R, not bad, but the C7.R looks perfect. (Sorry, this one's a little blurry) Another nice feature on the version of the race car is the interior tub. Much more molded in detail. No cheesy molded in seat belts. There is a lot of detail to highlight for those that want to. And more than enough for those that just want some thing that looks realistic without a lot of effort. The body portions look good and the shape looks spot on to me. There are minimal mold lines on the outside of the body so clean up and prep shouldn't be very time consuming. They're still using the metal axles, which isnt terrible, but a full suspension kit would of been awesome for detailing the car up on jacks. I plan on doing this one with the wheels on the ground anyways, so its not that big of a deal, but I do plan on another kit down the road and I'll have to make my own suspension at that point to have it up off the ground with the wheels off. The only real gripe I have at this point, I've only mocked the body/chassis up at this point to check the ride height, was the chassis plate itself. Yep, I got another warped chassis. Everything else looks good thus far, but the chassis, bagged with some other parts was bagged before being completely cooled and the pressure of the other parts in the bag caused it to bow. Revell really needs to get on their quality control at the manufacture point, there's been way too many issues over the past years. I'm sure everyone has gotten at least one of these. I'm up to like 4 now, Ferrari 458, Porsche 918 x2 (plus the warped replacement for the second one) and now the Corvette. Now, mine isnt terrible, hence all the tape in the photos, I'm trying to straighten it back out some. Once I attach the interior tub to the chassis plate it should be pretty straight, but if you buy one of these, check your chassis plates. (The tires are sticking out due to the tape I used to try and bend the warped chassis plate back, but without the tape they look correct.) I started on the motor and some other parts, but nothing worth taking pictures of yet. All in all, a nice race car. Gravity Colors has the correct Corvette Racing Yellow now, so order for that going out soon. Comments and Criticisms always welcome. David

I havent ordered yet from him. How's the shipping rates to you? I'm lucky, I live 30mins from the US border and my sister's place is just another 5mins over the border so I just order stuff and have it shipped to her place and pick it up when I go over for a visit. Save's alot of money in shipping costs. Just ordered the new Revell C7R on Tues, was at her place on Thurs and she delivered it today when her clan came over for an early Thanksgiving dinner. I've to maybe start ordering from hobbyworld-usa.

They're good. I've ordered from him 4 times now. You cant use normal clears on his decals, you have to use Future Floor wax, he'll send you a PDF file with directions when you order, or you can download them off his site, forget which. They're coming from Australia so takes about 2-3 wks to Canada, but I've had no issues so far ordering from him. Just be sure when you order to specify water slide, his decals are normally for slot cars so the standard is peel and stick. And they come in different scales so specify that too. David

I'm sure alot of the molds for both kits are the same. I have the snap infront of me and the brake discs, as seen in the last photo of the glue kit attached to the engine tree are actually on their own separate tree in the snap kit. The detail is the same, my guess is that the mold small disc tree from the snap kit can be added other molds from the glue kit to make one big mold. Just a guess tho. David

If you can get a clean scan of the decals maybe someone like Firebird Designs could print off some new ones. David

Yep, Scott will ship oversees https://www.elmcityhobbies.com/shop/index.php Gravity Colors are great, shoot really nice and go on smooth. They are abit more money than Scale Finishes but the coverage is better so you use less, in the end it becomes a wash between the two. Zero paints are great...but I cant get them in Canada anymore unless I get them shipped to my sisters in the US and pick up from there. Shame really, love their stuff. I too bought a box from Scale Finishes moving sale and havent heard or seen anything about it yet. I knew it would take a while but over a month now since I ordered mine and not one word. I know Jameson works alot of hours but an email saying, "hey its gonna be abit" would be nice. As much as I love his paint, I think if I ever see this order that will be it. Gravity Colors are constantly expanding their colour range and I'll just wait for new colours or try HoK. David

Looks pretty good to me too. And yes definitely needs a HD detail up set and I'm sure we'll see some Studio 27 decals sets down the road too. I got mine pre-ordered as well. David

How cured is the paint? Rubbing alcohol, not the 90%+ stuff for stripping, but the 70% stuff with take decals off without damaging the paint, just wash when done as not to chance any damage to the paint. If the paint is fresh, it might be a gamble. I just dampen a cloth with my finger behind the spot and rub the alcohol on the paint to remove the decal. I also do this when I darken panel lines and need to remove excess paint from the body panels. David

Paint for brushing and parts
Jhedir6 replied to LittleDrummerBoy Aka LDB's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've actually started switching from Tamiya acrylics to Vallejo. I find Vallejo dry better and smoother than Tamiya's, only draw back is Vallejo doesnt have as many "car" colours as Tamiya, ie metallics, they do have some but not as many. But for things like black, flat black and silver I love the Vallejo now. I cant comment on Testor's enamels anymore as I stopped using them years ago because I was brushing them on and found they didnt lay down as flat as Tamiya's, and that was long before I got an airbrush. I do use the Testor Model Master acrylics too but not enamels. As for paint for bodies, I've been switching to Gravity Colors. Mate Mayer, has amazing service and they're adding new colours to their line almost weekly. But if you have Vallejo, use them, work great on cars. They have a flat black primer for airbrush and I use that for both spraying and brush on for things like belts and hoses, really good paints. David -
When's this available Tim?

Avoid the reissue Revell Ramcharger

I had the same issue lately. I bought one of the new Porsche 918's (American packaging) and got a extremely warped chassis. Put in a parts requests to Revell and a few weeks later got an email saying the request was processed and then a couple days later the replacement showed up. They even sent it airmail to Canada at a cost of almost $10 US. And low and behold I got a warped chassis. Now it wasnt as bad as the original I got, but still....the guy had to cut it from the spur...did he not notice it was bent. Its usable but I really wasnt happy about it. I think alot of the warped parts are due to the manufacturer in China just packaging stuff before it has fully cooled once removed from the molds. I forget which kit it was but another I got recently from Michaels in Canada was even worse. Ever single spur was warped and at least one part on each spur was mangled. The body was too. Luckily since I live over 40 mins from either of the Michaels I can go to I always open my kits in the parking lot, just incase, before heading home. Michaels was great, they opened another kit in store and we checked it. I've never had a warped tree/body from Tamiya, Fujimi, or Aoshima but alot over the last couple years Revell. Hopefully someone knows someone that works for Revell and can speak with them directly. I sent an email to Revell, nothing. We'll see what the future brings. David -
Got this on Monday. Not hobby related, but definitely hobby impacting. Name is Thysyn ( Tie-sin) he's a Old English Bulldog/Boxer mix and he just turned 7 weeks on Sunday, so I think bench time might be somewhat hard to come by for awhile. David

67 Eleanor transkit available?
Jhedir6 replied to Devilsnake98's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Like Mike stated above Scale Productions is doing another run. I dont think he's announced when it will be, but I would assume soon, he's been putting a few teaser shots up on his FB page. I also have a body from Greg and it is very good. And Greg is a pleasure to deal with. As far as tires go, I got a set from Scale Production http://www.scaleproduction.de/product_info.php?info=p1817_17--tires-tread.html pretty sure these are the same as the TK ones. Looking forward to your build. David -
Ah...cool, I hadn't heard that. Thanks for sharing. David

Try here, they sell parts. ScaleAuto section then under 1/32 scale. These are the guys I get my 1/24 slot bodies from for curbsides. http://www.132slotcar.us/store/ David

Looking very forward to this myself. Along with the C7R from Revell. Scale Auto just released some test shots of their Porsche 991 GT3 car, that was announced like 2yrs ago now. And then Carrera's coming out with the new Ford GT LM car, man, too many GT cars for me to buy and build. Gonna be a busy winter. David

WOW... I'll admit, that when I saw the thread title in the forum list " Round 2's New AMT 2016 Camaro.." I yawned. Yet another cool car, with too tall tires, metal axles, and molded in engine/suspension detail....again. Then I click on the link and am pleasantly surprised to see its a full detail kit. I'm truly shocked. I too hope its a new trend with domestic manufacturers to make highly detailed kits for those of us that arent 10. I know they need to appeal to the younger consumers for the future but they seem to be leaving US behind the past few years, alot or really nice snap kits, but not nearly as many full detail kits as in the past. Thanks for sharing all the photos, I'll have to get one of these not it looks like..... Wonder who's gonna do some TK's for this? A Z28 or maybe even a Trans Am TK to make it a 2016 Bandit? Isnt it about time Hollywood did a remake on the Smokey and the Bandit movies anyways? Pretty sure they've run out of original material. I know Plamoz has a TK for the 2010 Revell kit in the works to bump it up to the 2014 Z28 hopefully someone will do some for this. Thanks for posting. More kits to buy......I hate this hobby sometimes. David
