  1. Cool project Rob, been watching this, and looking forward to more. I saw a thread on another forum where a guy made filler out of CA glue and baby powder or corn starch?, Sorry I cant remember which but it seem to work really well. I havent tried it myself, but might not be a bad thing to experiment with? Good luck. David
  2. PM me, I probably have a what you need. Just give me the exact part numbers from the kit please. I have a couple of Cobra's from a garage sale lot, neither are glue bombs but they are assembled/falling apart I'll just dunk the parts in CS and clean them up. I got so many kits I'll likely never get to them anyways. David
  3. I think it looks pretty good Ray. If you, or anyone else wanted a more accurate suspension Jeremy at Cleary Scale has a conversion kit. http://www.clearlyscale.com/category/conversion-kits Looking forward to more Ray. David Sorry should of looked abit more closely, it doesnt have the suspension parts anymore....not sure why, I bought the conversion kit off him last year and got the front and rear suspension parts....hmm nvm then.
  4. Dangit.... I smell yet more model purchases in my future.... I was so trying to be done with buying......another dream shattered. David 'Oh, I just looked at the Model Information link.....the roof is a separate piece....nice.... And I'll defiantly have to get a couple or 6 C7R's as I love GTLM cars.....guess everyone's getting cards and High-Fives for Christmas this year.
  5. Really nice work Kenny. I really like it. David
  6. Fireball Modelworks Scenes Unlimited Ebay Automotiveforums.com theres a guy in the Classified section that has a ton of wheel/tire combos up for sale for pretty cheap, and is offering discounts on multiples, most of his stuff is more modern as opposed to the more classic stuff from Fireball and Scenes. David
  7. God...... your neighbor has a GT 40.......my neighbor has cows........beautiful build. David
  8. Man you're paint always looks so perfect. Waiting for more.
  9. I have a LMM Panoz LMP 1 car that I have painted and stripped a total of 5 times now, currently back in raw resin. I got a couple sets of replacement decals from LMM years ago, but each time, something messed up the paint/clear and it got stripped. Just found out recently I cant get the Visteon decals from them anymore so now I have to either hope that Patto's decals will fit, or go with a different livery......not likely this one will get worked on for awhile. I think I've spent as much in paint on the thing as I did for the kit originally. Hang in there mate, hopefully you can save yours.
  10. Well nice to see (sorry its not nice, I know) that I'm not the only one having painting issues today. Just put a coat of Gravity Colors white primer over the Krylon primer I use as my working primer for body work etc. The grey has been on and dry for days. I even wet sanded it and let it dry for another day. Then I shot the GC white ontop as a base for some GC color and for some reason the GC white lifted the grey, right down to the bare plastic. Now I've used this combo a bunch of times, no issues, just one of those days I guess.....hope your disaster is fixable. Good luck. David
  11. Really nice Ken. I always thought Shelby should of done a coupe of this car. So much so, that your build looks vaguely familiar. I started mine back in like 2002...was suppose to be a tribute to Shelby's Return to LeMans.....a decade and a half later I still dig it out on occasion to work on it. Like you, I used the roof from a Viper GTS (AMT) kit. Looking forward to seeing yours done.
  12. Go for it, you wont be disappointed. Goes on smooth. It's abit runnier than Scale Finishes paint and seems to have abit better coverage, but all in all equally as good. I've used both now and happy with the results from both. Matt's a great guy to deal with too. Sign up for his newsletter and you get 10% off your first order...or atleast it was up last time I looked. David
  13. Nice score for $6. If you haven't used Joesph's stuff from Fireball yet, you wont be disappointed. Its superb. David
  14. Recently I bought a new Porsche 918 packaged in the Revell US box that had a very warped chassis. Took a couple weeks but they sent me a replacement. Even sent it airmail to Canada at just about $10 cost to them, so I'm happy with their CS as well. David
  15. Pics not showing for me atm.
  16. Thanks Matt, I'm not too worried. They glass in the kit is pretty tinted so most of the detail is hidden anyways. The kit dash top looks really good so likely I'll just use the seats, cause the kit ones arent very nice and the steering wheel, as the kit one is molded into the dash and has a sticker for detail. Once I get the diecast in I can see what else, if anything will fit. Small update: Car has been disassembled and the major body parts glued together. Panels seems have been filled in and sanded out and now its in primer. Need to scribe some of the lines abit deeper and check for more imperfects to clean up before next coat of test primer. Got the day off today, so maybe I can get abit more done later on. Thanks for looking. Comments and criticisms always welcome. David
  17. For me, the most on any single kit, about $230 CDN each on a couple of MFH DB9 kits. Another $130 US each on a couple of Le Mans Miniatures kits. Another $170ish on HRM Daytona Coupe. I have a couple of ST27 kits that are about another $120 US each. I just picked up the new Tamiya FXX K with the decals and CF decals as a single purchase so that's another $100 or so. Man, it just adds up doesnt it.......... I have some of the large scale MFH kits on my wish list, but at about $300-500 with exchange and shipping, I just cant pull the trigger on one right now.
  18. Got this in today. It's Airfix's McLaren P1. I started in on it right away just to see what it would look like built up. All in all it looks pretty good. The level of detail is actually quite high and looks fairly accurate. With a little effort it should build up to a pretty nice looking curbside kit. As far as what needs to be replace, the interior is very poor just a couple of seats and a dash. The wheels and tires also need to go and I've just ordered a Motormax P1 to use as a donor for the interior and wheels/tires. I'll also be adding some carbon fiber. Dave Thibodeau already built one of these, mine wont be nearly as nice, but he shows what can be done with this simple kit. Here's a shot of his. I will absolutely be copying as much detail from his to put into mine. I started by getting some of the body components attached together to correct the seems that shouldnt be there. I'll update again in the morning. David
  19. What that dude said. Gotta love a planner. Today I got a couple of goodies too..... #1 Airfix's McLaren P1 And cause its a little snapper I put it together in all of 5mins just to get a good look at it... I'll disassemble it and attach some of the body parts together to try and make it a one or two piece body before primer and paint. But all in all, a very nicely detailed little kit. The wheels and tires will go in and be replaced with ones from the Motormax diecast which I just ordered. As well the interior is pretty weak, tho hard to see through the tinted glass, but that too will get robbed out of the Motormax diecast. Also, just arrived, my second and not last purchase from Joesph of Fireball Modelworks. Another set of his beautiful KMC wheels, as well as a pair of spares for one build and just to get a look at them, a set of the Method wheels w/Goodyear rubber as well. Lots of supplies to keep me building into the winter......I've been shopping far too much this year.......please, someone tackle me.................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Lonnie, The 2010's to 2012's should be pretty much identical. There may be the odd small detail that is different but overall you should have no issues using the 2010 1/12 Revell kit and make it look like that 2012. The rear's are the same, now if it was a 2013 your mom has, you'd have some work to do as the rear bumper changed for 2013. Front's look the same too. 2010 Rear 2012 Rear 2010 Front 2012 Front Now, the decal packages are different, the second one (rear) is a Super Snake, but the body work's the same. There might be some small differences on the interior. I'm using Plamoz's TK to make a 2013 Shelby GT500 which uses the Revell 2010 GT500 as a base. The TK has the updated Recaro seats from the 2013 Boss 302 kit, but does not have the correct 2013 dash. Do some image searches and see what differences there are on the dash/door panels. Hope this helps some. David
  21. IPA is Isopropyl alcohol. I have a bath of both IPA and SuperClean. When I get a stubborn paint job that won't come off in either one or the other I just swap it back and forth between the two. I use to large rectangular plastic tubs, with lids, and just fill them up. For the SC, I usually get a full years use out of a 4L jug. With the IPA I'm on my second tub of it now, but I just started using it earlier this year and I was experimenting with stripping different paints so I used it up faster than I probably would under normal circumstances. David
  22. opps, "BATH" it was late, and I couldn't sleep. Fixed now.
  23. Get a bath of IPA too. Swap it back and forth between the two ( rinse off with water and dry in between swapping). I currently have an Audi R8 body I got from a garage sale that was painted with I dont know what, but I've been swapping it back and forth from SC and IPA and its managed to clean off the paint. I do find that the different baths do have different results pending on what type and which manufacturer the paint is from. David
  24. What he said. Love the colour. Will really pop once cleared. As for you Tamiya paint stand, take some CA glue and glue the two halves together. I had the same issue with mine, always coming apart when I was trying to prime/paint the inside or bottom of a body. Now, doesnt happen any more and it still spins properly. Looking forward to see more progress on this build. David
