  1. They appear to be radials?
  2. Its a good idea to study trim moldings on the specific years before you build. Still waiting for an readily available '73-'79 standard wheelbase 8' bed.
  3. Thanks guys. A few more shots. I should mention the cab guard was lowered on dump since the Louisville cab sits much higher and extra speedo decals were added to the original instrument panel to simulate tachometer and air pressure gauges, and an air control valve on dash for pulling equipment trailers, something the original AMT pickup would not have.
  4. Another excellent build! A perfect example of why fleet trucks are my favorites!
  5. The 2 piece 16 wheel, first photo, and the 1 piece 16.5 , second photo, Ford 1 ton rims used in the late 60's and 70's. In the 80's, third photo, the 1 piece 16" began to take favor.
  6. 1 ton Chevy GMC wheels 70' thru 80's, . The third photo is the 16" 2 piece which seemed to disappear after the mid 70's.
  7. Great choice in building an 8 lug workhorse. I would like to do a 8' Ford Flareside bed ( used between 1953 and 1979 ) when someone offers it in resin. The only thing interchangeable between the short and long bed Flaresides is the fenders and tail lights.
  8. Correct stock hubcaps for '69-'75 Chevy pickups or vans in 1/25 scale. These highly accurate 1/32 scale caps were done by Revell.
  9. The only accurate 70's Chevy van hubcap was done by Revell in 1/32 scale, it is the'69 thru '75 style used in 1/2 ton vans and 1/2 ton pickups. Unfortunately, it is molded into the wheel, and its 1/32 scale.. AMT tried doing the 1 ton version on their 1/25 van, but screwed up ( Casey's first photo on left ). The edges need to be filed down to be correct.
  10. 6 hole 22.5" solid wheels used on 2 tons.
  11. X2! Mr. Turner or Mr. Hunt must have transplanted the white walls and full wheel covers from a totaled Sierra Grande he towed in.
  12. Wow! Love the subject, a old 3/4 ton workhorse. The weathered period factory original paint color is perfect! Those stout bumpers mean business! Great job!
  13. The City of Troy Dept. of Public Works just has taken delivery of a brand new 1959 T 950 Ford Dump truck. Cab was from Frontier Resins, frame and Heil Dump from AMT Louisville kit. 534 gas engine from AMT tilt cab, 5 speed main and 4 speed auxiliary from KW 925 kit? Budd wheels are aftermarket resin. Plenty of work to get to this point, but it was worth it.
  14. Some Chevy and GMC 2 tons and step vans used the interesting 5 and 10 system, a smaller bolt pattern than heavier trucks. .
  15. 8 lug Budds were used on late 40's to late 50's Ford Big Jobs. Smaller 6 lug Budds were used on 50's to mid 60's Dodge, Ford and International 1 tons.
  16. Mid 60's 352. Was this cab design ever done in resin? If it was, is it presently available now or is it another of those cabs that came and went?
  17. Looks great! The tanker and the extra wide front tires look perfectly at home on this one, its ready for a construction site!
  18. Running out of ads from the 60's, so here are so wheels from the 40's ( 10 hand holes), 50's ( 6 hand holes)
  19. Out in the West, the disc wheel was the most popular wheel configuration for various reasons. This thread is about the different styles of steel disc wheels. When you study them closely not all "Budds" are the same, there were several different styles and manufacturing companies that made them, even if they have the same amount of lugs.
  20. Remember seeing that tornament of thrills kit once, and only once, around '74, one of those rare box art kits, but the contents luckily are much easier to find, IMO, the tilt cab Ford is a great match for the haulaway trailer, not only an out of the box single axle tractor, it can be made to be period correct to match vintage of trailer with a simple emblem change. Yes, another vote for the haulaway.
  21. Very nice, overhead rack is a great idea to boost capacity, not to mention, save some display shelf space!
  22. I will rephrase it, AMT gave us nothing, the cold shoulder. Back in the 70's after the introduction of the '75 Ford pickup I was excpecting AMT to give us a full size '73 or '74 or '75 or '76 etc. Chevy longbed fleetside pickup, as they did in the action line series. Most of the MPC and Revell offerings were jokes, no where near the caliber of the period AMT Ford pickup.
  23. Excellent work. The dash and bumper work are outstanding. Were these GMC cab molds done in 1/25 or 1/24 scale?
  24. It appears interiors were painted Detroit diesel green, regardless of exterior color.
