Question for Porsche fanatics
crispy replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm not well versed in Porsche, but after watching the clip on you-tube I was certain this kit would probably be what you are looking for. Fujimi's Porsche 930 Turbo Enthusiast kit. On the same note, Tamiya re-released a 1988 Porsche Turbo as a snap fit kit, that if time is taken and detailed it looks fantastic: Looking for the paint might be a bit tougher, but I bet a google search with the year of 87-88 might get you something. Good Luck! Chris -
Wow, that looks great. Is that real wood on the dash, decal or great brush work? Nice MB Chris

Nice work! Neat little kit that Cayman as well as the trans kit. I'm with you, thought Bob's looked great. Just not ready to spend that kind of money to do something like that yet. Keep up the updated posts. Love to see this one finished. Chris

Blacking out wheels./

I've used the liquid mask one time. I wasn't exceptionally happy about my results, but now do know what to do next time I use it. This is a Revell AG Mercedes 190E kit. I needed to make the outer rim chrome while leaving the inner part white. This was very difficult. The wheels are on the white car. This is how it turned out: I'm happy that the mask works, so I'll be using it again on something else I'm sure. Chris -
Thanks Kyle. This is in the to do pile in the shop. My mother knew I liked exotic cars and picked this kit up for me as a Christmas gift a couple years ago. I need to start it and get it done so I can show it to her. Let her know I appreciate the gift. Thanks for the insight. Again, nice looking Enzo. I look forward to your future builds. Chris

Beating a Dead Horse Again

Ernie, I have the Nesco as well. I keep mine at 105. I've never had a problem with resin or any plastic. Tamiya paints are pretty much ready to go after 4-6 hours. Testors is more like 8-12. Of course airbrushed stuff is much faster. You'll see quite a jump in speed on your building with the use of the dehydrator. I find it to be an essential tool of modeling. Chris -
Hey, thanks guys! Ismael is the resident Corvette keeper. He has an amazing array of Corvettes in all flavors. Here is the link to his and others Corvette site: '05 and up Corvettes

Great work Mike! I love Lancia's, just never built a kit of one yet. Love the Martini Sponsorship on this car as well as the others. Thanks for sharing. Chris

The Nissan Cube is also coming out by Fujimi in a month or two. I'm with Andy too, what about the Bugatti??? Just to name one marque. I have many more I would like to add, but then I would be getting off topic. Chris -
Today at storage with the MCM Guys! THANK YOU
crispy replied to Lyn's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Looks like a good time. Lyn, I'm glad you had two great helpers and that things got sorted. Now, Have those boys found my BMW???? LOL Chris -
Scott, thanks for becoming a member! Glad you took pictures. I haven't yet been to nordicon, too much stuff happening every time the date shows up. I see you snapped a few pictures of my friend Jim's Ferrari's. He's quite a builder and his techniques are amazing. Where are you located? I'm near Mankato in Lake Crystal. I hope to make the show next year. Thanks for sharing. Chris

Nice show again this year, numbers were down a bit due to an error on the car show flier(the contest was not mentioned). Saw a few of the Minneapolis guys and I think we all had a great time. Here are a few pics with more at the link. Chris All 92 pictures can be found at MY FOTKI

Seriously Ismael, what took so long??? I've been waiting for you to start so I can be ready to purchase the ZR1 kit next year from Revell. Get your wrist better and get back to work, the modeling world has missed your work. Chris

Depending on the kit, or wheel kit determines how I'm going to do it. I'm with Steve though, if it is a one piece wheel I paint right over the chrome. Otherwise I'll strip the centers on a two piece wheel and paint the color I like. Here are a set of Aoshima wheels I used with Testors Metallizer Exhaust and brush painted: Then we have a two piece wheel that has a separate chrome ring that fits on the outer part of the wheel. I stripped the center and spray painted gloss black: Chris -
Absolutely gorgeous Ferrari. I'm happy to see it in yellow too! Did you happen to build it box stock or did you utilize either a aftermarket p.e. set or the kit supplied one? I want to do mine in yellow too, but even this Ferrari looks good in red. Thanks for sharing, great work. Chris

Great work Walt! You are correct about black paint as was mentioned by everyone else. I like that challenge myself. Getting it flawless is key and of course extra time and effort to get it that way are paramount. The car looks great. Pontiac really had something there with that car. Yours is awesome and a great tribute to a cultural marque. Chris

Bill, Still following this with awe. I see a future supplement to Model Cars mag in the form of Basic Model Building 101 by Bill Geary. I hope that you'll take the time to combine all of your text and pictures for an actual supplement to Model Cars. Thus sharing your wealth of information to not only us on the internet, but that kid that happens to pick up the mag by coincidence. Thanks, for the basics Bill. We all need them. Chris

Jeff, really well done! Something I'm surprised Ford hasn't latched onto to sell a few more cars. Anyway, Really clean and nailed the look. Chris

Brendan thanks for the low down on those tire stencils. NICE! I knew it wouldn't take you too long to figure something out for the bump. Chris

Thanks guys. I appreciate the comments. The Top Gear episode of Jeremy's Merak was a hoot. I can hardly believe what he paid for it but the real shocker is the cost of the engine rebuild and then it grenades itself on the road. I wonder how much hp it had before the ticking started as it was pretty nasty(bad in a bad way) sounding when they tried to dyno it, wondering if it was even going to last then! Like I said, I had a fun time building the kit. I also just recently got the Pantera kit by Testors and as usual it has all the gaudy features I love. Look for that one to be built in the coming months. Chris
