  1. I just finally got a chance to look at their website more closely and apparently the GM based trucks are powered by the 4.3l V-6 which still is in the sub 200 horse range. They'll also convert Ford trucks and Rams......if they use those respective brand's V-6 engines when converting their trucks, the Ford 3.7l V-6 and Pentastar could make for a couple very potent gen-sets
  2. I imagine that range will fall off, that 400 mile range is both electric and gas and to get that back is as simple as a trip to the gas station. Pulling power shouldn't be a problem either with how electric motors make their power....and there's now no 4L60 to grenade either
  3. Depending how how I go to and from work, I have seen Astin-Martins, Ferraris, Lambos, Porsches , Maseratis, lots of BMWs and Mercs, even a few Bentlys!
  4. Hopefully they will have an actual service center, maybe take over an old Sears that had service bays for a store and service center
  5. Well, yea it kinda does. It's at least built on good, solid underpinnings.
  6. Well, if the house is wired correctly for a heavy load, that won't be a problem...........Now other stuff in the garage catches fire while it's in there charging, that could still be a problem!
  7. Looks great so far, are you going to chop it when you finish the rest of the body mods?
  8. Yup, basically it's a lot like the Volt.........but on a much more useable work truck platform
  9. I saw a segment on these guys on Leno's Garage, apparently Bob Lutz, formerly of both General Motors and Chrysler Corporation, is even involved with the company! http://www.viamotors.com/ http://green.autoblog.com/2012/01/13/via-motors-introduces-plug-in-work-vehicles/ I do like the power outlets that can be used to power a home in an emergency, that would have been quite handy to have had around here the week of the 4th of July, we had no power here at home for a couple days and there were places that had no power for most of the week. These vehicles in a place that has just had a natural disaster could be invaluable during the cleanup and recovery efforts!
  10. I figured on showing up next week
  11. Haven't in a while, we don't get it delivered and haven't bought one in some time. Any rwd performance vehicle isn't going to do too good in our weather, especially if you're not using winter only tires. My Lebaron and Shadow were at best ok, the Chargers my parent's ('70 R/T with the 440 Six Pack/4-speed combo) and my sister's '06 SE (with the 3.5l V-6 and 5-speed auto) had/have a lot to be desired, and I honestly am not too sure what my 200 will be like (with 18" Eagle LS2's on it, haven't read much complimentary on them), but I'm planning on using my Jeep.
  12. Yup, there's one in a high end shopping mall not too that far from Harry and myself, Didn't know they weren't going the traditional dealership route.........wonder how well that is going to play out, especially here in Illinois.
  13. Wonder how big of a crowbar it took to separate the driver from the seat after he got back to the pits..................
  14. Lol, I'm not as worried about the back ones, but the two behind my feet scare the snot outta me!
  15. While back my power driver's seat in my Jeep quite working and a couple weeks back I was talking to a customer at work that himself works for a local junk yard and asked him if they had any "late model" Cherokee's with non power seats while I was helping him/we were B.S.ing and he said he would check for me. Turns out not only did they have one, but he pulled it for me and delivered it to the store for only $25! Now I just need to pull the seat and junk power track out and swap them.......well, I need to drown all four bolts in PB Blaster for a few days first
  16. I think a lot of the kits that represent 50's through late 70's American cars and trucks..........probably have to go on a few chemically induced trips to come up with some of the ideas though. Look at vintage pics and just try to go as far over the top as you can possibly go!
  17. Never seen that one before, actually looks right too?! If you even get one of those and resin cast them, let me know! If it's 1/20, it wouldbe perfect for Losi's Trail Trekker micro scaler Wonder which chassis that body is mounted on, looks like the Venom Mini Giant that I used to own.
  18. Wow, and I thought Dad's '86 Pontiac 6000 was junk!
  19. Yup, only XJ's I've seen in scale have been either 1/64 from Matchbox and now Johnny Lightening (still need to find the latter brand), Proline has a couple lexan R/C body shells available, then there was a guy in Germany that had been selling resin bodies and complete running R/C trucks..........the bodies alone were $300-$400 and the RTR was closer to $3,000-$4,000! I could buy a 1/1 Cherokee for less than that! Some Chinese diecast maker was supposedly going to be producing a 1/24-1/25 scale '84 with a 4 cylinder at one point a couple years back as an anniversary model for the ones that were sold there under licensing with AMC, then Chrysler, then Daimler Chrysler. Now that I think of it, there also was a "Land of the Lost" XJ from the TV show, but it was somwhat Palmer like in it's overall appearance...........although it at least looked like a Cherokee
  20. I think it was the head design myself, Chrysler's 2.7l V-6 had similar issues and I'm wondering if the heads were designed to run hotter to try and help control emissions. Get oil hot enough it can sludge up and if that happens in the heads, the return ports can get plugged up trapping oil in the heads and aggrevate that issue and starve the rest of the engine of much needed oil.
  21. Are you talking about the ones that would sludge up within 50k and require at least a head rebuild if the engine didn't die from oil starvation first? I remember reading about those and how Toyota would refuse to do repairs on cars that were still under warranty, going so far as to blame the owner for lack of maintenence.......even if they took it to the dealer for oil changes that might have been as late as at 3001 miles since the last one. Thought they had a 4 cylinder that had that problem too.
  22. Well, apparently the smugglers and coyotes love them too, can you imagine the story this one's owner is going to get
  23. Mine is the only one left of the four we've owned since....well....October '92, and it only has 157k on it, last 3 all had over 200k on them before being totaled or scrapped..........not letting it go anytime soon either! It's clawed it's way through quite a bit since I bought it in '03 and plan on keeping it for as long as possible.
  24. Apparently, there are a number of pictures of that XJ on the internet
