What do you drive?
Joe Handley replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This will be returning to the streets tomorrow, new fuel line installed, fresh oil in the pan, topped off the radiator, aired up the tires and rear air shocks , all the lights appear to be working and no check engine light so far..... Still need to put new tires, headlights, clear the garbage out of it, get some oil dry to clean up my mess under it. Need to get it in for emissions testing this week and get a plate sticker paid for, then insurance paid for it and the 200, after that, then I can worry about tires and headlights! Oh, and it's been so long since I've turned a wrench on something full scale, I kinda have this feeling now....... -
Stop resurrecting once great nameplates
Joe Handley replied to HomerS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I'm thinking they're aiming for older Gen-Xers and older, especially those that are older who might want a nice utilitarian "car" that they can get in and out of without too much difficulty, but so full of themselves that they can bring themselves to buy a minivan or even a proper SUV like the Blazer used to be. Then there are those who are Gen-X like myself, but who wouldn't be caught dead in a van or station wagon, but just buy a vehicle that is like a station wagon, but closer in size to a minivan and without the usefull room and slide open doors of a minivan and may have AWD......even if they live in a climate that wouldn't need it in 99.99% of the time........ -

They could have at least done as Jeep did with the current Cherokee and Renegade and made an off road capable vehicle of their station wagons. They could have at least developed a Z71 off road version of the platform, if Jeep and Land Rover/Range Rover can build off road station wagons, no reason GM, with a much bigger warchest to work with, can't. -
What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)
Joe Handley replied to LOBBS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
This came in for my Jeep, $141.90 with tax, might be nicer than the OEM part was too! It's running now too! -
Anyone buying Revell kits just in case?
Joe Handley replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When I picked up their 914/6 kit for the Fuchs wheels, I had my Sister check at Hobby Lobby since she was going there anyway. She ended up grabbing amd holding it for me until I could get there. -

Fuchs wheels with tires
Joe Handley replied to Joe Handley's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks guys, ended up buying a Revell 914/6 kit at Hobby Lobby to steal wheels from, since it's supposed to have Fuchs in it and I might be able to mix them with a set of Pegasus wheel sleeves to get the look.- 6 replies

Has anybody here run across Fuchs wheels in resin, preferably with tires? I've got 2 of the Revell New Beetle snap kits, one I kinda want to build more like a tuner and the other in more of a rally or safari build, but want to put the Fuchs style wheels on them. Basically, I want to do these kinds of looks on them. But use wheels and tires more like this for the off road stanced NewBug

Over-the-top hot-rod Corvair truck.
Joe Handley replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I didn't intend to knock the fabrication work, I agree that looks like it'll be very solid, I'm just wondering if it will see much road use or just be a show queen. I'm hoping it'll be road going like the above FC is, but I'll believe it when I see pics of it in use on the road. -

Considering the work done, I'm wondering it it will see more than 25mph. -

Kinda disappointed that they didn't try to stuff a shortened C5-C7 running gear in there, if you're going out there, might as well go all the way out there. -
Mr.Force...I think it might be time to retire.

Not sure why, unless it's what was on my radio at the time, this video came almost straight from my dash cam with just minor clipping the begining and end of the footage. That first road though, I couldn't see how bad it was until I was in the water due to the rain. -

Just had an unintended opportunity to test my 200's water fording ability, made it home on all 6 without any warning lights on. -
Funny how people always seem to forget that part, isn't it.

I figure at that point, I'm going to be going for a swim anyway and will need to bail from the car. At least it's not like the '15-'17 models, those pull air from the bumper and would suck in water then shatter the bottom ends on the 3.6l. -
For all you guys who want a Vette wagon
Joe Handley replied to oldnslow's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not really, look at a lot of cars that come out of there in comparison. -

It's Distributerless, each plug has it's own coil mounted to the valve cover directly above the plug, also above the headlights! -

I thought Colani's name sounded familiar Add a jet inlet and exhaust and some batwing shaped fins to this one, it could pass as a Batmobile! -

Things like that are why I'm happy my 200's inlet is above the driver side headlight............ That's nearly as far off the ground as the stock airbox inlet on my XJ Cherokee! -

With all that garbage on it, I hope that JK has a LS? or Hemi swap so it can actually move! The Pentastar might be over stressed and I'll bet the 3.8l would struggle with all that lard.
