  1. So long as it's not that bright yellow that the Revell Snap New Beetles were molded in, I shot Duplicolor White Sandable Primer on it and that came out looking like a block of butter in the shape of a New Beetle!
  2. Got an old XJ that could use a good scrubbing if you want relive the old days, it's even green
  3. Lol, I'd be afraid that it would shove the scooter backwards while the rider continued forward over the handlebars
  4. I'll take one, or so. Last time it was issued and I bought one, it seemed like it was cursed, had a string of bad luck with and with it around and ended up tossing it in the dumpster at work figuring I'd get another one........guess it's time now!
  5. About 9-10 years ago my Sister had bought Rise Against tickets so she and her Ex could go to their Chicago show that year (I think it was at The Metro), and since they had broken up after she bought the tickets, I went with her even though they aren't really my thing. The local band that opened for them was playing when we got there and up along the front row, head banging with at least a dozen teenagers, were two guys who were probably well in their 40's (and probably in their mid-50's by now).......and they were banging away just as hard, if not harder than the kids around them! I can actually see those two doing just that in another 20-30 years.
  6. I haven't gotten there yet, I'm only on about page 58 so far.
  7. That thread posted is great, I'm nearly 20 pagesninnandnthe stories are fantastic!
  8. Well, there is this little bit of sarchasm..... https://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/31/arts/sfmoma-glasses-prank.html
  9. Well, I live on the south end of West Chicago and work just a few miles away on the north end and not too far from the Dupage Airport. There must be at least a dozen plastics and related companies around the office and between there and the airprt.
  10. Considering how many plastics related companies near where I'm now working, I wonder if that shop is local to me?!
  11. Oh I wish I hadn't seen those 914 pics you posted, I picked up 2 from HobbyLobby for the Fuchs wheels, and was going to try and throw them on ebay........now, I'm not so sure..........
  12. Yeah, that was an experiment with embossing powder that didn't pan out, got something else to try, but I'l do that on a spoon first. I do have a friend that uses those embossing powders for carpet though!
  13. Look into these. https://www.dipyourcar.com/collections/speed-shapes I picked up a few to play with, they're cheap and appear to be vacuum formed sheet styrene
  14. My parents hit their 50th last October, Mom was at the hospital and barely made it out of there, but she was fairly awake for the day at least.
  15. Gotta agree there, then combine it with a boring version of a car built durning what was probably the worst time for the automobile..........it's like a trifecta of suckage.
  16. I had been planning on buying my 4th Tamiya paint stand, but when I saw there was two and wanting to build 2 while I still have a spare, just in case, I figured they will still have the stands next weekend. I got one to build like the 440 Six Pack/4 Speed/Super Track Pack car my parents had back in the day, then maybe do another as a tribute-ish car that would be a late model Hemi (maybe the 392 out of the prepainted Challenger kits, since I have 3 of those....) and painted the Moss Green Pearl my 1:1 Cherokee is painted.
  17. Picked up two more of the Revell '70 Charger R/T kits (Panther Pink car on the box) at Hobby Lobby tonight. Only got one before things went south for Revell and wanted more, sooooooo..................................
  18. I thought somebody had started making big diameter steelies like what Detroit Steel Wheel sells, just can't remember where I saw them though........................

  20. Yup, then on top of this, I'm doing the paintwork on one of their C7 Vettes, and had to strip the primer that came out rough and pebblie, even then, the reprime is a bit questionable and needs work!
  21. Some of it was tryin to do too much too soon, some was not taping the body to the stand like I should have, and then whole pearl bomb was just an experiment in general.
  22. Started working on this a few weeks ago, 20180523_215049 by bjoehandley, on Flickr And was planning on this stance for it, 20180601_234451-1 by bjoehandley, on Flickr 20180601_234352-1 by bjoehandley, on Flickr I was going to try the DYC Pearl Bomb on it but that didn't work out when I tried it on a speed form that I had bought....... 20180708_182153 by bjoehandley, on Flickr So I just shot it in Testors' Blazing Black, then shot the roof in Model Master Black Lacquer, but ran into issues where I damaged the not quite dry yet paintwhen I went to mask off the body to painted the pillars and lower window trim, 20180711_230236 by bjoehandley, on Flickr 20180712_232046 by bjoehandley, on Flickr Tried to clean it up with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol, but that just did this................. 20180715_163846 by bjoehandley, on Flickr So I went ahead and wet sanded then reshot it, did barely manage to leave some finger prints in the paint, but picked up some 3000 grit sand paper to try and clean it up before shooting the clear. 20180715_173814 by bjoehandley, on Flickr 20180717_223635-1 by bjoehandley, on Flickr In the process of building this one, I started a second and lose one of the mirrors for the black one.................... 20180715_165310 by bjoehandley, on Flickr Painting issues continued when the second Bug fell off the stand while shooting the primer, damaging it in areas and requiring more wet sanding, 20180720_225608-1 by bjoehandley, on Flickr I did the wet sanding and now I just need to put more primer down then shoot the.......rather work appropriate and polar opposite color coat I've chosen on it, 20180721_041219-1 by bjoehandley, on Flickr 20180721_041723-1 by bjoehandley, on Flickr Now since the I needed to get a new mirror, I ended up ordering an older issue off Amazon that had the chromed wheels and reflectors, think the chromed wheels will go on Bug #2 and this bug will likely get built too, still deciding on how I want to, 20180721_151720-1 by bjoehandley, on Flickr I do like how this second gen looks, and may try and follow that appearance, even being a first gen kit..
  23. That shrinkage is what I was trying to accelerate, if I could bake it dry, and work the shrink out before laying paint and maybe even primer, I won't need to worry about it on down the road after the model is done.
  24. So it doesn't work on the normal solvent based? I was hoping it would work better for the solvent based fillers like Squadron's putties.
