Where ya goin' Hot foot?
Gray Smith replied to RJWood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hmm, I wasn't a speed demon much, worst ticket was 80 in a 55, I took my old 240 up to about 125 and was worried about the carbon fiber hood popping up since it was fluttering at that speed. My claim to fame was a nice careless and wreckless ticket from doing donuts...just so happens I have a video of that incident right here..lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPwxNDi8_eA I never went above 80 on my motorcycle, I was too scared..I mean literally 2 full days of riding under my belt and I hit the highway, scared to death about messing up...so yeah I never tested the high speed capabilities of my Buell Lightning when I had it. ahh, many a great deal can be found on Yahoo japan, I can't tell you how much stuff I've gotten from over there. Its not as bad as you think for getting stuff though. I went thru a proxy service, though the one i used is no longer in business. There is one group though and I think their prices are reasonable. www.rinkya.com Hope this helps Gray

Hey guys, I saw a little snippet about the forum pruning posts that haven't had replies in 30 days or something like that. I went to my profile(and others) and did the "find topics" search and it only shows topics I started since last February. I wanted to go back and see what I've posted before that and I can't seem to find some of my threads...are they gone for good? Just wondering. I also did a regular search by user name and it seems some things are missing there too. Anybody know what the dealio is? Thanks Gray

Hooby Lobby sale
Gray Smith replied to crazyjim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i'm trying to convince myself that I need to go pick up Roscoe's Police car that I saw at lunch time..lol I've got 3 Hobby Lobbys, 5 Michaels, 2 Hobbytowns, and 1 mom and pop hobby store to choose from and by far I like the mom and pop place and hobby lobby the best -
I love it!, I can't wait to see some more on this...gave me a few ideas to use on my 5-window as well... and I really need one of those front axles from Bob...lol

Here are some better motor pics as promised.... I think the intake set-up i've got on here will be what sticks... though I'm going to recast the pieces with some pearl-ex powder on the mold to make them look like metal, and put on some chrome stacks instead of black, just to add some shine to the motor... Oh, and Randy that car you are thinking about is the Quadradeuce..and yeah it was very cool in its original purple incarnation..they changed it later into a billet, molded job to the likes of most modern AMBR winners... Anyway thanks for looking guys.

All great 32's..I like your most recent one Raul. Hopefully soon, i'll have a few to post here..lol
-
Hey guys...me again..lol Well I stalled again on the 32 Roadster, its going to get finished eventually. Anyway, to ring in the new year I decided to start yet another model. This one is the very excellent 5 window kit from Revell. Its going to be kept simple, no crazy body mods, no undertrays, no super detailing on the motor..no custom mixed paint. I've included some slightly not so great phone pics..but they are something to get started. The engine has been painted in spaz-stix orange/purple/teal color shift paint. I dechromed and crinkle finished the valve covers with some uncovered chrome foil on the ridges. I do have to change the induction set-up though, its my version of an itb-fuel injection system stolen from the amt 53 ford truck hemi. I think it looks pretty cool, but what do you guys think? I've also got the option of the really cool intake set-ups from Norm to choose from as well. Wheels are from the 39 wagon rod, suspension will be lowered, minor channel on the body but thats going to be about it for mods. Paint will probably be testors one-shot white lightning or graphite dust. I'll get some better motor pics this weekend, my daughter and her mom are coming to stay for a few weeks and she's bringing the good camera. Thanks for looking guys and comments and critiques are always welcome. Gray

Hey guys, Please pardon the cell phone pics, I didn't have any batteries in my camera. Its now sitting on its wheels, I got the suspension and wheel mounting figured out. They aren't glued on yet, and need some paint but you get the idea. In the pics it looks like its sitting a little front high but its not. I can still get a mm or 2 out of the front suspension. I'm going to try to finish this one up soon with a major brunt of the work happening next week while i'm on vacation. Anyway enough babbling...heres the pics. Comments and Critiques always welcome. Thanks for looking! Gray

Nothing yet, but over the weekend I ordered one of those Offy motors and some other misc parts from our buddy Norm (Prolly won't be here til after the new year ) I paid for a subscription to Street Rodder (finally) and discovered a new hobby shop where I picked up some paint and Tamiya polish. All that was also my Christmas present to myself after getting a bonus from work.

What model kit(s) are on your Santa list ?
Gray Smith replied to RJWood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I really want the new Revell Corvette ZR1 after it becoming my favorite car in Forza 3, but its not out yet. If I get a bonus check from work, I'll place an order with Norm for some parts for a 32 ford build, maybe pick up one of the 30 Model A coupes, another 32 5-window, and possibly pick up some resin casting supplies.... Or I may just put it towards the Ducati Monster I really want come spring time.... I'm single so I have to be Santa to myself, though one big gift I am getting is my daughter and her mom are moving up here to Charlotte soon, no more being 4.5 hours away from my little girl. The reason mom is moving here is to bring her closer to me. -

Farmall Tractor Noses For rat rods
Gray Smith replied to Chuck Most's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
if you decide to cast these up and sell them, put me down for 3 i've got a few projects that would like them... -
I hope so, those are the only 2 announcements I'm even partially excited about but the too small wheels will kill the vette I'm tired of having to buy a set of aftermarket wheels for all my kits..lol
