Beautiful work, very nice indeed

Good point James, it won't stop me buying the Escort kit when it's released, I was just daydreaming about a rally repair workshop diorama with the Escort engine in bits ...... I'll wake up now lol.

Uncommonly RARE? Fox Mustang wheels
Mr Stock replied to MsDano85gt's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
They used the same type of wheels as these on the late 70s Ford Cortina/Taunus & Granada models in Europe -
I love the stuff and Im not intimidated by the process, however....... I always get a little nervous cutting the foil when there isnt a very prominent moulding line to follow, nothing looks worse than wavy foil!, and its not easy to fix when done, the stuff Ive got sticks like cack to a blanket and it can chip the paint if Im not careful.

There is a part of me thats dissapointed that the Escort Mk1 thats due is a curbside, part of that cars magic was the twin cam BDA engine and it would have been great to build a full replica....that said Ill be getting one anyway. Looks to be a very good kit. Im very surprised Revell AG hasnt done a Mk1 Escort road car as a kit yet, the different versions they could model would be fantastic.

Yep I totally agree Bill, I cant wait for this one myself, Ill get one thrown over the pond as soon as they are released.

Your rabbit sounded very nice Phil !, there are RHD & a LHD parts in the kit , well there is in the German kit anyway not sure on the US rebox
-
If I do get in a slump...which is rare to be honest, Ill pick up an easy kit say an old AMT wire axle job and have fun building that without going overboard on the detail etc, or Ill just put the 1/25 stuff down and concentrate back on my 1/76 scale trucks, I very rarely get bored ! Lol

Car modelling in the UK
Mr Stock replied to Earl Marischal's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I can only agree with you Steve, it seems in the UK unless you are a military or aviation modeller forget it !. I am luck in that I have sourced a lot of my kits locally and through ebay over here and Ive probably amassed over 100 kits that way, however for the newer releases Ive had to import from the US, the cost as you mention for shipping can vary so much from $16 to $50 ! per kit. Personally I find Model roundup and Spotlight Hobbies way overpriced on shipping. These days for the newer stuff I deal with one guy in Rhode Island whose shipping is pretty fair so a new release kit ends up costing me £22-£25 including shipping. There seems to be a big US 1.1 car following over here but the modelling side is pretty much a very niche thing which is such a shame. -
Thanks for watching my channel Mark, keep watching to folllow the build on the Dodge, done a bit more on it tonight stripping the chrome of the wheels etc

Moebius 1965 Plymouth Satellite news
Mr Stock replied to Dave Metzner's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
You bought a case of 16 kits based on a test shot ?, Perhaps its just me but wouldnt it have made more sense to buy just the one kit and check it out first before buying a case of them?, that way you could check it out and if it really did dissapoint you as much as you say then you wouldnt have to buy any more of them. Dont get me wrong I can understand dissapointments and inacuracies in kits but I like to physically have the kit in my hands before I make that decision. I personally love the fact we have a 65 Satellite kit, to my eye I cant really see the major roof issues but then Ive never seen one of these cars in the flesh so I cant really say its right or wrong. But its certainly no revell Fox mustang type roof issue. Or is it ? -
Hey all, latest one of the bench for me is this Revell Germany Volkswagen golf GTi Mk1 kit. Great kit to put together, everyting fits perfect, I did make a couple of mistakes but they are hard to see luckily ! I painted the car rattle can white, all the decals come in the kit, and I made custom UK numberplates, the number used was actually from the first car I owned a 1977 Ford Fiesta not a VW....Sshh dont tell ! Comments and constructive critisism welcomed Oh and only the one door mirror ?, thats the way they came form the factory from new ..two mirrors were an option.

The old Tamiya kit still builds up very nice , theres one in my Avatar, the later Austin Mini Cooper 1275s kit is particularly nice. Also the newer Revell tool is a great kit, both kits have their advantages and disadvantages, but for me the Tamiya later kit wins.

If you could only choose ONE photo of any of your builds, wich would it be?

Thanks, Gary. The intricacies of the UK number plate system are a complete mystery to me. I started boning up on the subject, got a splitting headache about ten minutes in, and finally just went with something from my decal stash! I might still swap it out someday- I know it should be 3 numbers and 3 letters, but sometimes the letters come first... aaagh, here comes the headache again... No worries Jason you are right the UK numberplate system is a minefield even to those of us that live here ! I deal with cars everyday so Im sort of used to it ...however by 6pm at the end of the working day Im also brain fried !!
-
Great work Mark , I have that drag Catalina to do someday, it looks a great kit
-
Jason that is stunning work , I did follow this on the on the workbench section, your work has paid of really well. One thing and this is more on observation and certainly not a criticism the number plate/licence plate the "L" suffix you have used, would date the car to 1972. If you wanted a plate for say 1948 it would read perhaps read 544 LCV which would be a car registered in Cornwall UK in 1948. Just an example and If it doesnt bother you I understand. but brilliant work on this Brit classic mate.

Vallejo woes yet again!
Mr Stock replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I agree on the filler Ace, it is junk, any sign of moisture and it just vanishes !, very annoying. I actually like the paints a lot but I do airbrush them mostly, the yellow and white colours in the Model colour range are very thin and do not cover well at all, however other colours are spot on. -
Vallejo Surface Primer; model #70.600
Mr Stock replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Vallejo surface primer is an excellent product which Ive been using for a few years now.....however, It depends what you are using it for, I use it generally as a primer for painting interiors chassis componenets etc, its absolutely no good as a base for painting bodies. And it needs to be airbrushed you get gtreat results that way, but it must be thinned with Vallejo's own airbrush thinners.
