Revell GTX Hemi question
Mr Stock replied to Mr Stock's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks for all the advice lads much appreciated, I thought it would be fine and you have confirmed my thoughts. -
This is hopefully a straight forward question, and Im hoping I can use what I have. Ive just received a Revell 67 Sox & Martin GTX kit which has the motor/trans missing, can I use the optional Hemi and trans from the Revell 68 Charger kit, looking at the instructions it looks as if the only difference is in the trans which is moulded with the block halves on the GTX and is seperate on the Charger. Hopefully somebody can give me some info. Gary

Mr Stock replied to Mr Stock's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Geoff thaks for that mate, I work in a motor factors and we sell panel wipe so I'm sorted !, to be honest I thought that may be a little harsh on the plastic which is why I didn't think of it before, thanks for all the helpful advice lads -
Probably the Revell 57 Ford Wagon and the Moebius 65 Satellite, both will have to be imported in for me.

1969 Ford F100
Mr Stock replied to Ron Hamilton's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Ron The three sets of "Mag Look" wheelcovers were different between the manufacturers in the one-to-one world, in that the spoke shape and depth were different, as well as the centers. I did quite a lot of research on this matter, and I found that the wheelcovers in the Revell '65 Chevrolet Chevelle Z16 will work on the Chevrolet products from 1965 through 68, which had these covers as an option. The wheelcovers in the Lindberg '66 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 are wrong for Chevrolets, but will be accurate for 1968 Shelby GT350 and 500 Mustangs, and 1966-1968 Plymouths and Dodges. The wheelcover I used was from Missing Link Resin, which were originally from a MPC Jeepster, which I modified the centers by removing the lip, and giving it a very slight concave and were cut down to fit the Mobieus' kit Steelies. I used the same cover on a '69 XL Convertible I did a few years back Yes I tend to "count rivets", but it is your model. The others can be used if that is your choice, as they are very close. Ron that's very interesting thanks for the Info, to be honest i would never have known, they look great on the pickup. -

1969 Ford F100
Mr Stock replied to Ron Hamilton's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That looks awesome Ron, great colour choice and those mag wheelcovers look very "period", they look very similar to the wheels in the Revell 65 Chevelle and the Lindberg 66 Chevelle kits I wonder if they could be used too ?. -
Painted & polished but needs a clearcoat
Mr Stock replied to Mr Stock's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Snake, Bill and Shay thanks for you all for your advice, I do have some 90% iso here not brave enough to try that, but Shay the Surgical spirit is definitely worth a try. If all else fails I may have to strip it -
Painted & polished but needs a clearcoat
Mr Stock replied to Mr Stock's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks Shay, Yes Im using the Holts rattle cans its a solid white colour and I just cant get it to shine, I was going to try fairy liquid and hot water, may be worth a try like you said ...spoon test first I think. -
Hi guys This is ptobably such a simple question but I'm having a "moment" I think lol, I have painted the body on my VW Golf model I'm doing, it was painted using acrylic car rattle can paint, I used Novus to smooth it out once cured and then applied my usual car wax but I just can't get a good shine, so I'd like to do a clear coat. My question is now I've used the Novus and the wax what do I need to use to clean that off the model before I use a spray clear lacquer? . I'm thinking I can't just spray over it as the lacquer will react with the wax etc. thanks in advance for your answers. Gary

Ford Pick Up

As a sidenote the normal colour ranges can be thinned with water but the metallics are best thinned with Vallejos own airbrush thinner this works very well. Im not sure if this is the same case for the flou colours.
-
Ive never used the fluorescent colours in the range, but I use the Model Color and the Model Air ranges pretty much exclusively and Ive never had any issues with them at all. I stopped using Humbrol enamels 3 years ago and went over to the Vallejo range mainly because there is no smell, I thin them with normal tap water with no problems, the only thing I do myself is to put a top coat of varnish either matt or gloss on them when finished, as someone mentioned here before they are not very durable to touch without. For clearcoat I use the cheap Decoart hobby acrylics range it works great.

Great work Gerry, looks especially nice in Gold with those decals
-
These Jap tuner cars aren't really my thing , but you've done a great job on this Pat, very original and the custom decal work was a great idea.

Great work Tommy, I love those 63 Dodges

Hey all Just finished this one up today. I first built this kit back in late 2005, back then I painted it Tamiya Coral Blue and I thought I did a pretty good job, I had it on display for a few years and bits started falling off like they do with over handling, and it got put into a box of other old builds in the Loft. Fast forward a few years to present and I was up digging around in the loft and there was the pickup some dried cement chunks from the iside of the roof tiles had fallen on the model and trashed it breaking the front fender/clip section in two and also breaking the chassis in two. So here are the results of a careful restoration, this time I went for Chevy Roman red as a colour and added the kit supplied whitewall inserts, I still need to finish a couple of things which are missing namely the mirrors and the door handles, hopefully I can get these at some point and call her done. Let me know what you think. Heres what it looked like originally And here she is now.....
