  1. Thankyou Scott, I enjoyed building this one. Snake to be honest when I built this one I did notice the lack of emblems and shock mounts but only because they are simply not there, when it comes to body contours and shapes I'm afraid sometimes I cant see what everyone else sees. I suppose being in the UK I don't really get to see these cars up close and personal like you guys to know what looks right and wrong, and to be honest its quite an eye opener for me when someone points out a fault and you take a look and you realise yes it was there all along but my eyes just didn't see it.! Lol It doesn't necessarily bother me (Unless the kit is WAY off ) but I can see why some can get pretty upset over it, this is proven in various kit review threads. each to their own and i will in no way disagree with someone who has far more knowledge than I have. I still like the kit though ..
  2. Thanks Lee I think it is a Peugeot metallic blue paint, unfortunately its almost impossible to get the correct paint over here in the UK so sometimes you have to do a bit of guess work ! Lol. So this is my take on Mercury medium blue poly
  3. I built this kit last year, and I have to say it was a great. Ok its lacking the top shock mounts and the GT badges but it really was an enjoyable build, so much say that I have bought another for the pile I also have its cousin the Fairlane to do at some point.
  4. WoW !
  5. You can view the Missing link parts on their ebay shop. And I agree their website is very bad. http://stores.ebay.com/Missing-Link-Resin-cast-model-cars/Other-/_i.html?_fsub=1
  6. Beautiful work Al, love those late 60s Caddy's
  7. Great build of a rare kit John
  8. Love that interior Eric
  9. Great work for your 2nd build Dave, have one of these to do myself sometime.
  10. Normally 2-3 kits at the same time for me, and Im a very slow builder!. At the moment I have an AMT Ford interceptor police car in primer, a Revell 57 Chevy that just needs the interior painting and the glass put in, and an AMT Peterbilt wrecker which I started last April and so far its just a painted chassis on wheels !. My biggest time killer is painting, I have no indoor facility to paint and the weather in the UK from late November till March is not painting weather at all ! lol
  11. Welcome to the best model forum on the internet Tony !
  12. Totally agree with you Tom, even if I cant get any bench time done, somehow just opening a few kits makes it feel like you are still "doing" something .
  13. I open them as soon as they come through in the post, I would say from the store but I dont have a decent hobby shop within a 100 miles from me!. I cant help it every time I get a new kit I crack it open, vintage or not, Im really not bothered in future values as every kit I buy or have I plan to build (yeah right ! we all say that!) Ive even been known to open kits that I have multiples of.....why ?.....I have no idea !. And at least 3 times a week sometimes more Ill grab a cup of tea go upstairs to the stash pile and pick out a few kits and look at them all over again................... A true 100% styrene addict ! Lol.
  14. Beautiful model and a great subject!
  15. Nice haul Ray that 63 Dodge will do for me mate, always wanted that kit.
  16. Im going to have to get one of these two when they come out, I bought the Aerosedan and the sedan delivery when they were first released, they are fantastic looking kits....but like a fool I sold both ! and Ive never seen them this side of the pond since !.
  17. In the Uk we cannot get Purple power or the like, and to be honest Ive never had good results from either Mr muscle oven cleaner or brake fluid. Ive finally found something that will work (If you are in the UK of course), Screwfix sell a product called De-solv-it Graffiti remover, it comes in a 1 litre can and is about £11, it looks very much like the old Nitromors Gel paint stripper but its safe for use on plastics. Ive just managed to remove paint from a 50 year old AMT Buick riviera with this stuff that nothing else would touch, it sometimes takes a few attempts but it works and it doesnt harm the styrene.
  18. Beautiful work Ray, love the stance and the colour
  19. Jim that is looking fantastic, great idea on that braided wire it looks spot on !
  20. Ill be following this one Dave, I have this exact kit in my stash, I must admit the orange plastic makes me a bit nervous for painting Lol. Like your idea on the colour.
  21. Greg that is absolutely stunning work mate, looks like its just rolled out of the Barris shop !.
  22. As far as I know Tom the only new parts are the retooled "custom" wheel trims that came in the original trophy issue, also the decal sheet is a copy of the original, apart from that its the same kit, I have two of the version you have above, I love them great old kits. Check out the photos here of the newer issues contents http://www.modelcarbuildermag.com/53ford.html
  23. JB if you want a straight version of the Morris Cowley the original kit was made by Airfix, nice little kit it is too for the day.
  24. Thanks John thats a great idea, I have made my own decals before so Ill give this a go.
  25. Be good to see this one of yours done Snake, I keep meaning to have a go at starting mine but its still bagged and in its original box and as much as Im not a collector ....I cant bring myself to crack it open yet. (And Ive had the kit for 12 years !)
