As I recall the small blocks & slant 6's were red. The big blocks (383 & 440) were turquoise green until the early '70s when they went to blue. Hemis were orange as well as some or all of the high performance engines. There was some discussion of this on another thread, http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/95085-1968-dodge-charger-rt/, in which MrMike posted this link to a good MoPar engine paint reference http://www.turbinecar.com/misc/enginecolor.htm . Check it out. It should clear up some of the confusion.

How do You Say 1:1?

Peace keeping? Argument? Geez! Really?I just thought this would be a fun & friendly topic. Guess I should have looked it up in my Funk & Wagnalls! -
How do You Say 1:1?

I know 1:1 (and larger such as statues) exists but I'm a hobbyist & it just sounds goofy to compare a 1:25 model to a "1:1" subject when that subject is real, not a full size scale model. -

I hope that you all are having some fun with this 1:1 topic. (That was my intention anyway.) As I read the responses I realized that although 1:1 is indeed a ratio, I have always expressed scale as a fraction & that is what made 1:1 seem peculiar to me. It still seems/sounds a little strange to read it as 1 to 1 in some texts. I will probably continue to think of 1:1 as real, full size or life size. I guess that would make 2:1 twice as big or larger than life! Thanks to all you 1:1 people for making this topic 2:1 -

I have known this color to be Chrysler turquoise but Duplicolor lists theirs as Chrysler green. I also painted the engine in a '66 Chrysler 20+ years ago with TRW brand paint that was also labeled Chrysler green. This color can change & vary quite a bit as it ages (due to heat?) so it would be wise to seek real life examples if you want to produce a weathered or aged appearance..

I'm a bit puzzled over 1:1. Its great shorthand, but how do you say 1:1? 1:25 = one twenty fifth & 1:32 = one thirty second but what = 1:1? One oneth? Full size? Real? One colon one? What say you?

Looks like you got a very good start. The frame looks like the real thing. This is quite an ambitious project. I will be following along...

I know it is a 318, but I thought the carbs & possibly the air cleaner(s) would work. I now see that Mr Obsessive has already contributed to this thread & as he was instrumental in the 318 threads I'm sure he would have pointed you in that direction if it was appropriate. Others have already have made the same suggestions I thought of so I guess I'm not any help -

Check out these threads. Looks like there may be some parts here that you maybe able to use that these guys are working on. I have been waiting to see if & when some of this will be made available myself. Perhaps you can coontact them if there is something you can use. Sorry I screwed up pasting the 2nd thread, but you can now view it here anyway http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/124241-1958-plymouth-318-poly-head-3d-printed-engine-finished-71317/ -

I would love to have all 3 of those kits. I do have the trailer to the Buick. I started rebuilding it awhile back. Maybe I'll finish it before next summer?

Geez! I just built one of the later issues of this kit & no matter how much I fussed with the windshield & frame nothing seemed to fit. It was even more frustrating to find the roof didn't fit after I drilled out and framed the port holes. I now know why! This thread explains all! wish I knew of these issues before I took on this dinosaur of a kit. Oh well...

Thanks Peter! I probably spend as much or more time researching as I do building & I love MoPars so I always try to do them as correctly as I can.

Nice build. Much better than monstrosity your customer wanted. I wish the real custom builders had your taste and integrity. The interior looks great!
