That desk of yours is really good, David...... much better than the 1:24 scale desk that I made. Opening drawers ! Wow ! David

Nicely done tanks, Sam..... and I am liking the whole build. Brilliant ! David

Those shelves do work really well, Sam. David

Looks like a very interesting build, Pat...... I particularly like the Saoutchik boat tail style, but your choice can work really well also. David

Successfully 3D printed the Rolls-Royce 6 cylinder engine tonight, well that is almost...... As the the machine was printing the highest, and last part of the engine, which is the air cleaner the model detached from the print bed. This was at 87% print completed and only 9 minutes from completing the print. Actually, I could glue on the air cleaner part from the Italeri kit of the Rolls-Royce Phantom II to make the engine complete. This 1:24 scale engine will go on show inside the Hooper & Co showroom hopefully. - ( blue engine is my 3D printed version, and the black engine is the Shapeways 3D printed version ). David

I really like your food trailer, Sam....... you have done a great job on building that model from scratch, and it will look great once completed. The opening window, the colour scheme and especially the interior of the trailer are just brilliant..... Well done! David

I have to admit that I haven't done any work on the dioramas over the past few weeks, and this is because I have been assembling a 3D printer from a DIY kit. The printer was advertised on Ebay as a Prusa i3, but it isn't an Original Prusa i3..... this is an Anet A8 by a Chinese company CTC. The price was £79.00, which is around US $. 102. The entire assembly process has taken 32 working hours, logged over an 8 day period and I have learned a lot about the construction of this machine. Now I have to learn how to print 3D models, using Ultimaker Cura software and also my FreeCAD software. Setting up the printer is not easy, and I have found some very helpful YouTube videos that guide me through the difficult bits. Here are a few photos of the printer itself, and also the only 3D model part that I have managed to produce so far, which is my own CAD design Rolls-Royce 6-Cylinder engine. Where you can see three engines, the black one is the Shapeways 3D printed version, the blue one is my 3D printed version, and the white one is my poor quality moulding and casting from the Shapeways original. My first print of this engine did not print the sump that is under the engine block, so this engine sits lower than the Shapeways version. Also, there are supports along both sides of the block that will have to be cut away at some point. David

Nicely done, Christopher....... and very realistic looking too. Using natural daylight for the photos is always best. David

This is a link to Autopaints of Brighton, and a mixed to order aerosol is £13.00 plus VAT, so £15.60 : https://shop.autopaintsbrighton.co.uk/car-paint-mixed-from-colour-code-prices-from-193-p.asp They are a good company and delivery was very quick also. The Mayfair Maize colour was absolutely spot on for my Pontiac Parisienne. Here is a photo of the car that I owned in 1977. David

Your method of applying the spray paint to the roof is exactly right, Gareth, and you could use the rubberised black from Halfords in the same way. I sprayed on many light coats of rubberised black from a greater distance away, and then later I applied some brown acrylic using my airbrush. I found a company down South that mixed up a large aerosol for me, and this was the precise Pontiac colour code........ Mayfair Maize was the yellow colour that I needed. They do list a couple of colours for 1968 Pontiacs, including April Gold and Autumn Bronze. David

I like this view of your building, Pat...... Already you have achieved a high degree of realism. David D

Very nice job on the vinyl roof, Gareth...... and I really like these Pontiacs from around the 1965 - 1968 period. Many years ago I used to own a Canadian 1968 Pontiac Parisienne as a 1:1 car, and during this past year I built a 1:25 scale version of the car, which also had a vinyl roof. The Parisienne was 4-door and had a brown vinyl roof over a pale yellow body colour. Did you use Halfords Rubberised Black aerosol to do your roof, may I ask? I had to use a resin cast Pontiac Bonneville 4-door kit from United States, because there was never a kit produced for the Parisienne version of this car. David

The end panel looks really good from the inside, Pat......... you seem to be well organised at this early stage! David

Okay, thank you Michael......... but I am not the only member who is noticing a total lack of feedback on our topics, and the number of views increasing at a huge rate. Thanks for your response, and I kind of understand ( sort of ) ! David

I forgot to mention in my post just now..... there are lots of very old topics being commented on, as Wayne pointed out, so a topic that hasn't had a comment for many years suddenly gets a comment..... such as " awesome diorama " or " very nice job ". Completely random comment, out of nowhere ? David
-
I am glad that you have raised this question, Wayne....... because something has been puzzling me for some time now. I used to get regular comments almost every day, and my long running topic in Dioramas (WIP) was steadily increasing as regards the number of views. Then, when the format of the forums changed...... suddenly I am getting hardly any comments at all, and the number of views is increasing at a huge rate. There can be 50 - 100 views per day, every day..... but no comments at all. Thought it was just me, so I didn't say anything ! David

Having built an MG K3 Magnette sports car from the 1930's in 1:24 scale, I am now building a 1:32 scale Airfix 1933 MG K3 Magnette, to compliment the 1:32 and 1:35 figures in the dioramas. The 1:24 scale version of the MG was by Finescale Auto Kits and is a white metal kit. Here are a few photos showing both versions of this model car. One photo shows the 1:32 scale MG chassis alongside the 1:24 scale chassis. Also, there are a couple of photos that show the difference between the 1:32 male driver figure that is included in the Airfix kit, and the 1:35 scale Miniart female driver figure. I have this feeling that the lady figure will fit better into the smaller scale MG, and the slightly larger gentleman figure will be more suitable for the Rolls-Royce Phantom I model, which is also 1:32 scale. Of course, Tom....... only the best is good enough! David

Good start, Pat...... and this ' Behind the Shop ' diorama base looks a good size too. Looking forward to seeing your progress with this one. David
