Awesome it came out great I am a big fan of the Comet's and the 64 and 66 are two of the big one's on my list. I have the 64 and just got a AMT org kit on the 66 at a privet sale the kit is like new all the parts are still on the tree's I got for a steel $35.00 I have seen them for 3 or 4 times that on ebay and other model sites that handel old kit's.

That's great I never thought about using the 64 fairlane roof I'm not big on the Ranchero but love the Falcon. How about the roof from the 64 Comet That maybe more like the 63 Falcon roof I have both body's I think I going to take a hard look at the Comet roof very nice keep this build up dated.

Hi first this is a great build very nice. I am doing 2 of them I got my hand's on 3 of the Hasegawa kit's last year at a block sale I got all 3 for $6.00 had to do it. The 66 has always been one of my top 10 cars. I have no idea how they did what they did but it's not 1/24 or 1/25 it is some were in between. I am using the AMT 65 for the chases and motor and inside tub. I went to modelhause for the 66 hood and the chrome. When you cut out the hood the AMT 66 hood fit's like a glove and that's 1/25 the chrome the taillights bezel fits like a glove the rear bumper also fits great but when you get to the chrome for the grill it has to be trimed or use the kit grill and the AMT front bumper and head lights are to wide the head lights just make it and the bumper ends leave a gape between the fender and the bumper so you have to use the kit chrome for the front. The inside tub fits good when you add a small stripe a long the side to fill in the gap and the chases fits great to. So it's no big deal to a modeler but I would love to know how they did it.! All in All it is still a good way to add a 66 to your line up.

Nice project. I have a like new org AMT kit that I also have been toying with and a great resin kit by Missinglink resin both are hard tops and I'm thinking of cutting the roof off of one of them. Take a look at the Revel 65 Impala convertible kit I think that is the same frame work GM used on most of it full sized cars I'm going with that to replace the front windshield. Good luck with your project I will be watching this one close.

Hi I use the Spaz in the spray cans. I like it to me it's a litter better then the Alclad but you have to totally strip the old plastis and clean it then I use a coat of flat black then 2 coats of the Model Master High gloss Black then the Spaz I have always gotten very good looking chrome. I have brushed it on very small parts but it really has to be sprayed on. I have an air brush but to tell you the truth I like the spray can's.

new missing link 1965 buick wildcat!
rickcaps55 replied to kevin's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
This is a great kit I have one. When I open the box it looked like it was made out of plastic the resin that Kevin uses is great stuff it's not thick like a lot of the resin out there and it is very clean when you get it no flack or holes. This is a great kit. -
Hi I like the roof on the 64/65 to but that roof was on the 66 listed as the hardtop. The roof that was used on the AMT models was the new Town Landua Roof it was new and made the kit a little deferent from the 64/65 that roof lead to the first 4 door T-Bird in 67 if you go to (the old car manual project site) I use them for a lot of stock builds you can see the ford sales books. You can use a roof from the 64 or 65 on the 66 if you like that roof that's with I did. I'm 62 and had a 66 with the slant cut roof for a year in 69 when it got totaled by a snow plow here in Chicago.

rickcaps55 replied to JPolli's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Hi you can get the repop of the AMT 1/25 GT grill from modelhause he has it in resin and it is chrome plated. This is the grill with the fog lamps and the one with out the lamps is in the AMT kit that is out now or you can get it from him. I have gotten parts from Don for over 10 years and you will not be disappointed but do to how many people that buy from him you will have to wate the 4 to 6 weeks but it is worth it. Good luck..Rick. -
'67 Mustang conversion kit
rickcaps55 replied to landman's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Hi for the snap trim you can go with small evergreen plastic strips you will have to go to a hobby shop for them and look at the deferent sizes and as for the boot I got my boot from modelhaus I used the 66 boot it's the same in the models and real cars. Funny thing about that snap strip when I was restoring my 67 I could not find that trim any were no one make a repop of it I was ready to burn the car but I found a guy in Texas called Mustang Mike he showed how in an you tube video that the trim was the same used from 64-1/2 through 68 the only thing is you had to use the 66 boot because the snaps were in a deferent spot so I did and it worked perfect and no one can tell the deference. Good luck. -
'67 Mustang conversion kit
rickcaps55 replied to landman's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Hi good luck it will be much easier plus with the 67 the trim around the trunk and the taillights is deferent between the fastback and coup/vert. I just remembered I send Jeff pictures of my car so he could see how to do the rear dog legs. I have not cut the top off my kit yet I holding out to see if he does the vert. LOL! good luck you will like his kits I have a couple of his and I have a couple of the 68 coupes that Kevin at Missinglink makes both nice kits. Now that is a kit I would like to see someone come out with in a nice 3-in-1 like the old days. -
Hi that looks like the MCW kit from Dave Dodge I have that kit and his 66 and 68 Biscany the kits really are very good but the tubs are hard to work with the resin is a little thick and you have to do a lot of fitting to get it to mate to the plastic frame. I at the point were I may do the same thing as you and use the plastic tub and modifie it. Good luck nice color it's looks good I will follow this one.

'67 Mustang conversion kit
rickcaps55 replied to landman's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Hi I am doing a 67 Mustang GT convertible to match my 1-1 car. I got the 67 resin hard top from (motercityresin.com) Jeff makes a great hard top. I got the boot from modelhause and the doner kit is the AMT 67 fastback. Maybe we can talk Jeff into doing a convertible for us.
