rickcaps55 replied to fseva's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I have a good 85% of his kits they are good kits and are easy to work with. He does not chrome his parts you can send them out I have done that with some and the other's I go to modelhause and use there chrome and glass I have 2 of the Larks they are a repop of the old Johan kit but all in all Dave is a great guy to deal with and I like his kit's. -

Vintage air condition set-up.
rickcaps55 replied to om617's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Hi yes there was 1 or 2 AMT kits from the early to med 60's they were ford kit's 3-in-1 that had the ford dealer add on air. The unit was the typical ford rounded on the sides and had 4 round vents. My 66 Mustang had the dealer add-on I had build a rep of my mustang and got the air unit from the AMT kit. If I remember the kit I will repost if no one can come up with it. I have close to 200 vintage AMT and Johan kits from the 60's I will check them. I know Modelhause makes the one's from the 40's and 50's the one's that would hang on the outside of the window not go under the dash. -
See it's like they say you fall off the bike you get right back on and ride looks great keep them coming.!

Who has the best redlines in the market?
rickcaps55 replied to meaneyme's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Modelhause has the best Red lines all the tires they make are soft and the white or red lines come out to be painted. They have the same tires showen on the Charger in both red and white wall they are the same tire that was put in to the MPC and AMT kit's back in the 60's and 70's I keep a supply of both on hand. I just got a couple of packs of the new AMT red lines and I have to say they are nice and the fact that they are hollow make them work wit the new Rev kits they fit the 67 Camaro wheels very nice just like the AMT white letters tires. -
What cars interest you in resin 1/25
rickcaps55 replied to 5.0man's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
:DI would like the 74 Cougar XR7 I had one back in 74 great car. and I would like the 67 Olds Delmont 88 my dad had one of those I would get 2 of each. -
Hi I see were your trying to go with this but if you send them out to be plated the parts are cleaned very good by the guy doing the chrome so any masking will be cleaned off. I strip my parts drill out the lights and some times the grill clean them up and have them chromed when I get them back it's just a matter of gluing in the lights and putting the clear plastic on them.

:angry:Unclescott58 you took the words out of my mouth.! Dam lets get the kit's out. First of all we our modeler's if you have been building for any number of years you can make them look good no matter what.! I'm 62 and have been building model cars for 52 years the AMT 62 Fairlane 3-in-1 was my first car and I have never stopped and soon my grandson will be doing it. Models are toys they are not perfect nor have they ever ben perfect nor will they ever be perfect.! 90% of the people that have looked at any model that I have built can not tell if there is anything not right with it. They look tell you nice and move on so let's move on get these new kit's out befor most of the model builders are to Dam old to build them IT"S A TOY.!!!!!!!!!! -
Awesome !!! You got the right idea it's up to us Grandpa's to keep this hobby alive.! My oldest Grandson just turned 4 I think one more year and it's model time. I do have him into Hotwheels now I started that at 2 he's got a good start for car's. His first words out of his mouth when they come over hi papa were our my cars. I love it.!!!!!!

Awesome it came out great I am a big fan of the Comet's and the 64 and 66 are two of the big one's on my list. I have the 64 and just got a AMT org kit on the 66 at a privet sale the kit is like new all the parts are still on the tree's I got for a steel $35.00 I have seen them for 3 or 4 times that on ebay and other model sites that handel old kit's.
-
That's great I never thought about using the 64 fairlane roof I'm not big on the Ranchero but love the Falcon. How about the roof from the 64 Comet That maybe more like the 63 Falcon roof I have both body's I think I going to take a hard look at the Comet roof very nice keep this build up dated.

Hi first this is a great build very nice. I am doing 2 of them I got my hand's on 3 of the Hasegawa kit's last year at a block sale I got all 3 for $6.00 had to do it. The 66 has always been one of my top 10 cars. I have no idea how they did what they did but it's not 1/24 or 1/25 it is some were in between. I am using the AMT 65 for the chases and motor and inside tub. I went to modelhause for the 66 hood and the chrome. When you cut out the hood the AMT 66 hood fit's like a glove and that's 1/25 the chrome the taillights bezel fits like a glove the rear bumper also fits great but when you get to the chrome for the grill it has to be trimed or use the kit grill and the AMT front bumper and head lights are to wide the head lights just make it and the bumper ends leave a gape between the fender and the bumper so you have to use the kit chrome for the front. The inside tub fits good when you add a small stripe a long the side to fill in the gap and the chases fits great to. So it's no big deal to a modeler but I would love to know how they did it.! All in All it is still a good way to add a 66 to your line up.

Nice project. I have a like new org AMT kit that I also have been toying with and a great resin kit by Missinglink resin both are hard tops and I'm thinking of cutting the roof off of one of them. Take a look at the Revel 65 Impala convertible kit I think that is the same frame work GM used on most of it full sized cars I'm going with that to replace the front windshield. Good luck with your project I will be watching this one close.

:DAwesome build the color is right on and the Dog dish caps perfect it just fits nice !!!!!!!

Hi I use the Spaz in the spray cans. I like it to me it's a litter better then the Alclad but you have to totally strip the old plastis and clean it then I use a coat of flat black then 2 coats of the Model Master High gloss Black then the Spaz I have always gotten very good looking chrome. I have brushed it on very small parts but it really has to be sprayed on. I have an air brush but to tell you the truth I like the spray can's.
