  1. Thanks, ADL. I guess I'll have to get them together. Some day I should build a dragstrip diorama....hmmmmm.....alright, what kit has a dragstrip starting line 'tree' in it? I know I have one around somewhere.... -RRR
  2. Thanks, KK.... -RRR
  3. Honestly, I've never been a big fan of those wheels, but now that I've studied the pix, they do look pretty good. Are you going to keep them chrome? A shot of Tamiya semi-gloss clear might look good on them. I believe the original wheels on the Eliminator (RIP Dusty Hill) were polished billet, no? In any case, this is looking tuff! I cleared the bench for my wagon (sedan delivery) project to go full steam ahead. -RRR
  4. Ted- Thanks for the compliment. The chassis is an MPC funny car. These two kits made up the bulk of the parts.
  5. more pix here: https://public.fotki.com/jferren/vw-bug-aafa-fuel-altered/ Thanks for looking...... -RRR
  6. LOL!!! It'll be our little secret....sshhhh...... -RRR
  7. I bet this is the first time you've had two GM projects going at once! -RRR
  8. Beauty! Carry on.... -RRR
  9. Nice work! Nothing says macho like a crew cab dually.... -RRR
  10. I pre-ordered a dragster from Atlantis. Almost $40.00 with shipping. Supposedly shipping end of the month..... -RRR

  12. HAHA!! $100K on a piece of BLAH_BLAH_BLAH from GM???? What was it P.T. Barnum famously said? -RRR
  13. Nice work as always, ADL... Adding to an otherwise really simple kit really makes it sparkle. I'm sure you're going to come up with a sweet color combo! -RRR
  14. The next post will be in the 'under glass' area (some day).... -RRR
  15. I got busy this weekend on the SD...first order of business, removing the engine compartment tub from the body... Once I could put the '66 Nova floor pan in place after some trimming on the rear wheel tubs and floor behind the tubs, it became clear the wheel wells are too shallow to fit any reasonable tires... Notice how the rear frame rails spread out towards the back. If they were parallel, there would be room for tires. Easy fix... cut, cut, hack, hack, snip... yes, the sawzall is getting a workout... much better, now to replace the floor and make new tubs... I cut away the gas tank from the stock floor pan, this will be added back in... I relocated the front spring perches slightly more inboard... it's a tight squeeze, but it all fits...next up, clipping the front end and adding the M2 front suspension.... More later, thanks for looking... -RRR
  16. I have a 1/25th scale suitcase. Want it, KK? -RRR P.S. What you really need for that trailer is a mother-in-law!!!!
  17. I got my Nova wagon in the post yesterday and wasted no time digging into it. My concept is a sedan delivery (as the title would suggest). Side panels with a two door, with slightly longer doors than the four door version. I stared pulling parts. The '63 kit is very basic. I have '66 Nova kit and the frame and interior line up perfectly, so I'm going that route... here's the 'yard sale' of parts: I'm going to use the Mustang II front suspension out of the Roth Beatnik Bandit II kit. I'm going to clip the frame horns with the Roth kit. The engine is from the old Testors Boyd Coddington Smoothster, a modern SBC. I had lots of the parts aftermarket chromed several years ago (it's in the bag on the bottom right of the first pic). I'm using a T5 from a Mustang kit. Wheels and tires from the Revell '32 roadster (different front tire). Ford 9" differential...some other goodies thrown in... The first order of business is to cut out the molded in engine compartment from the body. I won't be using that...time to get busy!!! Thanks for playing along.... -RRR
  18. Alan- You had me at Lil John. He was one, of if not the most, innovate hot rodders and drag car builders of all time. His engineering skill was second to none. I really like the louvered rolled pan. I'll be watching!!! -RRR
  19. Nice work on this custom truck! We don't see enough of this kind of craftsmanship around here.... -RRR
  20. Thanks for the comments. This kinda got sidetracked...it's still sitting over on the side of the bench, so it hasn't been tossed back into a box, so there's still hope it might get its turn some day....yes, I was thinking some light weathering on this one... -RRR
  21. I just ordered one and found a '66 Nova chassis and suspension parts to see if I can mate them together.... -RRR
  22. Yowza!!!! I'm REALLY liking this one. I like to see surgery and this one has the surgeons skill level to 11! Now you guys (you and ADL) have got me thinking of building one of these little wagons. I have an idea for one...hmmm...I actually have a really old original (?) issue that's kinda clapped out, so I'll get a new one.... -RRR
  23. Thanks for the kudos, guys. The tape job even impressed myself! The tape is from an automotive paint supply place. UrAmask is the brand. Apparently its made of rice paper, super thin with a minimum of edge. Onward to decaling now..... -RRR
