Stretched SSR

That IS looking good! Bring it on home!!! -RRR -
I admire your ability to stick with a project for this long. I get bored/frustrated with projects that drag on too long. I'm good for 4-8 weeks and then the project seems to slide over to the side of the bench as I chase a new 'squirrel'. I have the '63 Nova sedan delivery and the COE ramp truck sitting over to the side. That means they 'may' get pushed back to the center of the bench, if they go back in a box they rarely get dragged back out. Carry on, gents..... -RRR

TIM- Yes, nostalgia drag is the other type of cars I like to build in addition to hot rods. You have some great stuff from back in the day. I hope you can finish up some of these gems some day... -RRR -

So, my fellow drag racing enthusiasts. Does anyone know what letter class designation this car would be considered by NHRA or other sanctioning organization? Getting ready to decal and am wondering....thanks. -RRR -

I'm starting on painting the body. The cove has been painted white with a quick overcoat of pearl. I have just added a bit of gold fade on the bottom edge. The rest of the body will be red.... More later. -RRR -
Paul- So good to see you on here! You are up to your usual high standards, fine tuning up a kit to make it all fit and snug. Paul is the first model builder that befriended me when I first starting building (as an adult) in the mid '80s. I took a couple of my (then crude) builds to a model show as part of a Goodguys Show at the Puyallup Fairgrounds in Washington state when we were living in that beautiful area of the country. Paul invited me to a club meeting, a then loose organization that later became the PSAMA (Puget Sound Auto Modelers Assn.). It was through that club Paul and I later met Kit Karson at a meeting a Scott Ridley's (another amazingly talented builder) place in Bremerton. Paul had built a 1937 Ford sedan (chopped, opening doors (and gas cap!)) that I was in awe of. Now it's almost forty years on and we've scattered around the country but we're all still playing with plastic! I learned a lot from both Paul and KK over the years.... Carry on! -RRR

Atlantis models for 2021 !!!!

If this kit has the complete Roadster Chassis Speed Equipment (I'll believe it when I see it) parts pack, I'll buy 100 of them! -RRR -
Atlantis models for 2021 !!!!
Rocking Rodney Rat replied to gbdolfans's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Jim- There's of couple things I wonder about. The assumption is that this kit will be made up of parts packs. The latest version of the Chevy 283 engine parts pack has headers that are way, way, way too small. The headers out of the AMT SBC parts pack are closer to being correct. The other parts pack that will be contained (assumably) is the dragster Speed Equipment #C1124. There are two front axles in that kit (pix below), one straight and one dropped. They're both really clunky and ugly (again, not even close to being correct for the car), so is the steering arm assembly and wishbones (for lack of a better term). Maybe I'm nit picking? The kit is supposed to have a hemi engine, that original Revell parts pack was sabotaged for the Miss Deal kit. It will interesting what the Hemi will be. So, we will wait and see what we get. Again, I hope I'm not disappointed.... -RRR -

I pre-ordered one, I'm planning to be disappointed in something with it. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. I already built a Mooneyes so it will be a parts pile for me...-RRR -
Duplicolor
Rocking Rodney Rat replied to bluestringer's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I use the Duplicolor 1699 part #, light grey primer. The 1700 part # primer is a darker grey and doesn't sand very well it, seems to stay a bit tacky and gums up the sandpaper, while 1699 sands to dust, easier to use. I haven't had an issues with any paints over that primer. My $.02 and worth both pennies... -RRR -

Thanks, Bob. Yeah, it's a fairly simple build. I'm just about ready to throw some paint... -RRR -
Now that does look great! I have had some issues with those Testors "Extreme" or "One Coat" paints. They're now discontinued as I understand it. I have been using what I have left by decanting them into my airbrush and applying that way. The finer mist and ability to have control of paint flow makes these paints easier to use. I'm sorry to see them go as they had some nice colors. Carry on.... -RRR
