  1. Nice to see a Gangster Era classic get built. Some projects are like that, but I think 40 years takes an award. I'm not into brush painting to begin with, so totally understand why you said it's not perfect. But it's a nice looking classic, AND IT'S FINISHED. I know someone who took 12 years to restore an Auburn, he let some of us in the auto club tour his house, where he built a special garage for the car, he drives through the normal garage to get in. There were moths flying around the exterior lights, the house smelled of moth balls, because of the wool upholstery. He has attended numerous A/C/D shows and always got first place, he finally told them to give the award to someone else. He never drives it, even to the club's annual show. Seems like a shame. This jogged the memory, had to share.
  2. Slow progress..... that was made long before photo-etch technology. Check this topic out. Thanks! Got the other spare mount done. Started on the front suspension, with a cardboard mock up.
  3. Sure do! I still have Plastistruct left over, never liked it. Thank you. Appreciate that you think so. I'm trying not to go all modern, something that would look dated to a decade of trendy street rodding. I've always like WW2 German military to begin with, so that's sort of the theme (wait until the front bumper is done). There were pickups, but MB didn't built anything like what we Americans know, there are 4 door Utes that started out in Australia (correct me if I'm wrong) and the Middle East. Now that I've looked at it so much, seems normal to me! ? Made the tailgate hinge, out of my favorite product, 100 year old fusee pocket watch chain. There is enough curve to require more than pins (like the '69 Chevy pickup). The jamb has Milliput in the gap. Diamond plate added to the tailgate. A little fine tuning this week was continuing the character line, including the tailgate (not seen here). Started on the spare tire mounts. What was cut out of the fenders, was sanded straight, some plastic glued to the ends, to make a straight mating surface. The tube mounts are getting modified, first cut was just about perfect. Nice when things go together as well.
  4. Got a book, for a project in the cue. Was looking at eBay, saw this Flintstone Advanced Design COE cab, *had to* get it for some weird reason. There was a Hot Wheels logo with it, want to trade for something.
  5. First Tamiya, and you wrecked it. ? Seriously, nice job! Welcome to the forum. ?
  6. Just because I like the subjects, but really nice work on it.
  7. Wow, can appreciate getting a stalled project off the bench! Love the weathering.
  8. Fujimi Enthusiast series is a favorite, and love this subject! Don't recall seeing the kit before. Huge hurdle for anyone is finishing. If you strategically "weather" it, can cover the rough spots, look for some pictures of the real car during the rally.
  9. Ohhh! ? I missed those last time I ordered, the LED light bars and jack. DUH! Worked on the back end, the frame extension and and bumper. Panzerfied the Celica part, diamond plate on top, extended the sides. Diamond plate floor and sides. I scribed the back of the diamond plate at the bend locations, reinforced with superglue/baking soda. Cut out the tailgate. Reinforced the back of the body with brass rod before cutting. I've had the jerrycan for decades in the parts box, it will need work on the handles. Now it's sleep-on-it engineering time, for spare mounts, tailgate hinge, maybe some sort of step.
  10. Holy cow, 71 pages? So this is the museum work of art and how to earn top spot in any contest! Congratulations. I'll check out your entire build.
