  1. Me too. ? The current kits are awful, so I haven't had the urge. But this looks very tempting, I'm amazed Revell is doing as well. I'm not expert about E-types, you guys are killing me! The tires seem to be too low an aspect ratio, at the time, tall and narrow was the norm, perhaps saving not making new molds for correct tires? Revell could produce the correct tires, and sell as separate detail parts. Understand why the wire wheels are this way, wish Revell would at least try what Fujimi does so well. Should be the door mirror, perhaps have the option with both, how hard can that be? Now for the big question, wasn't there a V12?
  2. Yes, shipped from LA (the one I bought from). Only after the PayPal transaction was done, did I see Chinese font of the seller. Not surprised, US can't make anything other than trouble.
  3. I did, avoided the "from China" items, just ordered. I double checked Amazon, what few #60 listed were unavailable.
  4. I'll give that a shot. Pulled out some scraps in my parts stash, either 40 or 80 per inch, was thinking 60 is what I want.
  5. Oh yea, those would last 0.26 of a mile. ? I'd like to know how the steering worked.
  6. Not talking photo-etch, I should have written 'woven'. This was very helpful, thanks. Thanks. I started there, now I know what the number system is, thank you! I want a little bigger than pipe screens.
  7. Very cool, I've been tempted to blow money on that kit. Don't blame you on avoiding decals, they would probably break apart anyway. I've built a couple of race cars as road versions, nothing wrong with that. Looks nice, and congrats on finishing a model! ?
  8. I favor the green one too. I think because Honda has a similar color for the Civic Coupe, which I wanted but got Orchid white (pearl) instead. I can tell you spent some time on these, nice job!
  9. the surveillance camera
  10. Thanks man! Seat Of The Pants Engineering has started, the transfer case is done. Raided the parts box one more time, saw the Bugatti Royal* differential and Panzer IV sprocket. Hot-wire cut apart those parts and made closer to the size that fits. Another part (white) added, lots of sanding and filing mating surfaces, then a frame mount, and I think this is good enough. *Long dead WIP, last one I should finish.
  11. Fine steel screen mesh, sort of like window screen but more thread per inch (that how it's defined?). I checked out eBay, see some that come from China. In some cases you need to buy a roll. Thinking of something like what Bentley uses for grills.
  12. That is a much smaller set than the Daytona or 275. But let him get the car done before adding such insane detail (yes I'm insane ?). The trunk also needs to be opened.
  13. Anyone ever attempt the Jimmy Lyle, Quad Al 4 Allison engine monster? ? Where is the gas tank?
  14. I skipped all the comments, this is strictly my opinion. I consider myself a crapsman, fake it until I make it. I make do with what I got. I'm not going to get a Sherline lathe, a computer program to use for 3D printing or photo-etch, to catch up with some amazing dedicated craftsmen out there. I tend to corner myself into learning something on most builds, usually it's to find the seat-of-the-pants engineering method that looks convincing, but to expect something to actually work in real life would take much more effort. I strive for perfection, but it always eludes me, sucks being human. ?
  15. Ok, good thing I looked first. Sort of a Paris Dakar theme. https://www.motor1.com/news/388959/russell-built-fabrication-porsche-911/
  16. Background vs. diorama, that's open for debate. My icon picture is a diorama, average people love whatever I put in there. I've done okay with photographs, blown up enough and mounted on foam core. In this case, the time was a lake, the MINI is the reject for the Oldboatbile. The first picture in the thread, should probably be called a stage (not to be confused for WRC stage). I like the realistic dimensions and textures, more convincing to fake out the average person.
  17. When I first saw radial engine bikes, it was those exact photos! Have fun!
  18. Very cool. Now they have disposable GoPro cameras, amazing times. Admire your dedication.
  19. Welcome, I see you are new to the forum. I had one of those kits, it was part of an estate that had a bunch of cool models, but I couldn't warm up to it, sold at a model contest. This is about what I would have done, you're off to a great start!
