"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
89AKurt replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I haven't announced being a part of any community build, much less here, might as well say that I've resumed on this: -

Improved the back door hinge, I was never happy with the single wire double acting pivot, did not stay open, just a pain to close. Of course the original door is hinged on the top, I wanted to be different. Used the fusee chain, scribed grooves in the door, stuck in with superglue and baking soda. Focus is now on the interior, specifically on the cabinet along the side. Thought a little table would be nice, wanted it to stow out of the way. Made the hydraulic strut from brass tube and paper clip. Hammered the top of the support on the anvil, scribed a groove under the table top, so it can slide out a little. The Captain chair needs the hinge fixed, but you get the idea. Now I need to make a cubby for the nitrous tank. Also need to start thinking about the speakers. -
Mercedes-Benz W31 G4 models?
89AKurt replied to Roadrunner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've seen those pictures before, one reason I want to do the sedan. But mine will be a little different, hardly authentic. Never saw that book before. ? -
Thank you. There I thought it was a C-10 all along. ? I'm on a roll, stay tuned. Thank you, and also for your comment in the WIP.

Chevrolet dealer in Prescott does well, people come up from Phoenix (according to their ads ?). The hook is you pull a tab, numbers show up which just happen to match the card, so you go in and get a chance to win keys or whatever. I never bothered. ? Oh, thank you. -
and switching stories ?

Good job wrangling that puppy to the finish line! I saw a purple one at a Corvette show in Prescott several years ago, think the interior was yellow.

Mercedes-Benz W31 G4 models?

I have 3 of the 1/35 versions, built one, and the two 1/24 versions of the ICM kits. Stay tuned, I'm gearing up to build a sedan version from a 1/24 kit, as if AMG got a hold of one. ? I was searching to see if there are photo-etch M-B stars available, and found this topic. -
Walk into another room, and forget why I was there. Plausible deniability.

Here is the important part of AZ Gov. Executive Order ? today for me (it's all about me, isn't it people?). I've been self employed for decades, my office is separate behind my house for getting away from the kids and cats (kids are grown and far away, and ex wife leaves me alone). I never had an employee, there is enough conflict between boss and worker already. I almost never have clients over, because I don't have a dining table, just a pool table, and the house is always a mess because I don't care. So there is no difference for me. So why am I whining? Because I still have to work at my burnout job because I know enough to be dangerous! I HAVE NO LEGITIMATE REASON TO ONLY BUILD MODELS!!!! Guess I should be grateful, eh? ? At this moment, my baby girl is in the Navy, on the Theodore Rosevelt aircraft carrier at Guam, they had a scare of the virus getting on board, evacuated the sick sailors, she texted me to say she is doing okay. Scary times, shouldn't laugh about it, but humor is the best medicine.

Some of you make me sick! ? How does the saying go, a clean desk is a sign of....... oh I better quit while I'm ahead. ? Not doing video, would show the paper tiger monster in my office. My wood shop is really bad, but I know where everything is, and just need to move a couple of .... a bunch of things to use the big tools. Here is a good day, decluttered before resuming on my current project. I can make space to the left for the laptop. Just made the wood with drilled holes for the files and scrapers, because I was annoying myself with the pile of tools that builds up. I recently improved my paint booth, installed shelving for the paint bottles, thought I had extra space but am maxed out, so need to make more shelves.

Dumb newb question: How to install seats
89AKurt replied to jchrisf's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
No sorry, built a couple years before I joined this forum, and didn't take many pictures. -
Was going to ask how you did such a fabulous job on weathering the exhaust. ? Duh ? Looking really good. If it was me, those springs would be real and painted red, but then it would never get finished either.

LOL love the title, made me look! That is extremely cool, absolutely love the dusty weathering, wish more people would try such a finish, especially for a rally themed vehicle (not just cars race off road).

Dumb newb question: How to install seats
89AKurt replied to jchrisf's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Not a dumb question! The easiest solution is to use a big glob of Tacky glue on each side under the seat. The most complicated answer, is to use aluminum newspaper printing plate, fold over the edges, and make sliding seats (that could be a tutorial in itself). Yes, I did that on this Porsche, but after it was done, I never played with it. ? -
, what about 33s?
-
Cool, thanks for going to the trouble, appreciate it. I see an opportunity to make gas struts for that. ? BTW: I borrowed one of those for a trip to Moab, Utah, it was so weird to be sitting over the front wheels.
