BURNING MAN FESTIVAL. I've seen the giant VW Bus "Walter" in Jerome, that was there. Black Rock Desert turns into a town of 40,000 pot heads, sex addicts, and wealthy artists. That's where Andy Green broke the speed record and sound barrier, which still stands.

I can totally understand why that guy posted the sign. When my kids went to a charter school, it was aggravating to drop off my kids. One day I went into the office to ask them to do something about it, and Ruthie at the desk looked at me and said "why don't you be the door man?" I thought yea, not a bad idea, good way to serve the community. So every morning I showed up early, and pulled the brats out of the cars and pushed them to the sidewalk and told the parents to get the heck moving along will ya? Seriously, I was nice about it, and most parents appreciated me keeping the line moving along. But some parents were just stubborn jerks, and I let them know it. LOL Did this for 3 years. School gave me an award of appreciation for it, so that is hanging separately from my model awards.

Cool, someone actually built this! You did a fine job! I thought the windows were supposed to be moveable too. Did it assemble ok? I have two in my stash, first one bought on closeout sale from a drug store going out of business when it was a new kit, second a few months ago via Facebook 'Model Car Market' when it was showing in the background of other models, I asked, he offered a reasonable price, snagged it! But what has challenged me to start it, how to do the windows. The concept cars had what looks like NASA gold on helmet visors. Will be experimenting with Alclad gold over clear plastic, no black base of course. Then of course correcting the grill. BMW had two versions of this show car, they had a spyder version which would take more work to modify, and the headlights were different. I have the Autoweek issues, noticed the same license plate for both. Finding chrome BMW badges moved this up my long to-do list.

Sorry, you are starting to sound like (insert Politically Incorrect WW2 German police force name here), "You vill comply!" It's obvious evil tobacco and alcohol brands have been banned, thank you for pointing out the obvious. What's next, ban restaurant and candy and Coke advertising, because that makes people who can't control themselves FAT? Funny thing about this, people will still smoke, drink booze, and eat too much junk food, despite not watching racing! What a concept. I better stop, would be stupid to get banned for talking like this. Perhaps software malware companies will have a chance to advertise now.

Found an interesting group on Facebook, Ugly and Unusual Cars (need to verify exact name). This would be a fun parts box project.

I ordered something from Shapeways on Nov. 26. Yesterday was wondering where it was, searched my email and noticed they never sent notice of shipment. So I sent an email yesterday, got reply "I'm sorry" then 10 hours later "shipment is on it's way!" Good thing I checked, not that I'm impatient or have a deadline, but come on!

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
89AKurt replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
When I built my house in 1985, I stole the idea from a sales brochure. Used a regular step ladder for awhile, it's the same riser dimension. I designed it using salvaged oak barn wood mortise and tenoned into the single 4x12 stringer, but had someone build it. Thank you! -
Carbon fiber decals....help!!
89AKurt replied to carmad1957's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Helps to know what brand, and type you are using. I had a disaster with Scale Motorsport, copper color, Solvaset stained it, was literally breaking over curves. Got so desperate that I attempted to fake it by doing a crazy paint scheme, and then the masking peeled off the decal, so brake fluid came to the rescue. Just to give an example. -

Since I owned an '03 and then an '07 MINI, gotta love what you have done! The last Mini Meet I attended had a classic with the Honda transplant, it kicked butt on the autocross. I got first place with my '07, because I didn't worry about wasting the tires. LOL I also favor purple, so nice choice of paint! Very cool projects.

Very cool, love the subject of rally, plus nice job on the diorama base! If we could only simulate the dust rooster tail!
