  1. Interesting subject, I had given thought to acquiring one, but knew better. Compared to their latest, looks so tame. Good job completing it! Nice choice of color.
  2. This Auto Union C resin kit is made by a gentleman in Portugal, FPPModelos, Fernando Pinto, found on Facebook. He laces the wire wheels, not photo-etch. He also fabricates the wire grill for you. Sent payment October 11 for $165.01, received today (Nov. 9). He has some other variants of the Auto Union, and other race cars. Sure that sounds expensive, but look at those wheels! It was well packed too, he even made a custom sized box for shipping. The castings are a bit crude, just need to spend time to clean up. Instructions are really basic. I should go back to his page and download pictures for reference. I sure hope Revell doesn't come out with a kit of this.
  3. I have one of those Mattel vac-forms too, somewhere. But too small for me, made my own box and use the electric (not gas!) range to heat the plastic Bet nobody got one of these, found on Facebook, out of Europe. I like weird subjects.
  4. Yea, and you want to see what they do with your models?
  5. Still waiting for delivery..... So who said rally cars needed to be pretty? The round-round race cars can be, since you have to sit and watch them go round and round. It's different to be a rally spectator, you see them for just a few seconds. Watch how crazy some spectators are at this race!
  6. Still sunny t-shirt weather in Arizona!
  7. I doubt anything really cool like a Koenigegg will be done. If they do the Supra, which the show car looks really nice, that should appeal to the ricer crowd. Since they did the 300SL, doing the Ferrari Lusso would be a hit. Just giving my two cents.
  8. Good to see such a different subject, thanks for not giving up and completing! I'm comparing to the Heller kit, which I had started years ago, wheels look good with the pinstriping. Nice job on opening up everything.
  9. I'll use this excuse too! Mexican tile is good looking, doing a nice job! I've been doing tile too, but travertine. Projects domino into other things too, like painting.
  10. I don't know what the original kit looks like, but this is done so well that I can't tell what was changed. Very fun subject, thumbs up 'like'.
  11. Good for you, I'm also answering the challenge, best to you!
  12. auctioneers with bullhorns
  13. Wow, nasty looking wreck. If it was a car, that would have been worse. Never know when your time is up.
  14. hacking hairballs. Finding
  15. Great study of how you have focused on sub-assemblies, models onto themselves. Some of your project should inspire me on WIP that has been stalled, appreciate your work.
  16. Wow, outstanding job! I have this and the '57 kit too, so seeing these great photos helps anyone who wants to build it. Did you make the cranks from brass? I could have bought one of these, looked at one but passed because the fiberglass was damaged. Got a '48 beater instead. Later I found out the people I bought parts from got that truck, were so pleased it was all original and in such great shape and the price was really good for such a rare vehicle. I was sick!
  17. My first thought is a junk heap, like a diamond in the rough. I recently got one of those kits, but the Weyman version. Looks like a cool classic, but not thrilled about the wire wheels, spoiled with photo-etch. Whatever you do, wishing you a fun build!
  18. to photo-etch thickness
  19. Yea believe it or not! I saw our friend who posted something about cat videos. People who start any group on Fakebook has every right to control them as much as they want. It would be stupid to allow a group to be a free-for-all, but there is one that allows flamewars, I guess to give people a chance to vent. I don't think the Porsche group wants to see your '57 Chevy or '32 Ford hot rods, and that might be why no Porsches are in the hot rod groups. Just sayin', as if this really needs to be pointed out? Aren't there Administrators for this forum who sort of control things such as the use of words like BLAH BLAH and BLAH? I do like how this forum is run, and we seem to behave good enough. I keep having to remind myself what Thumper's mom told him (I have a meme for that). And now that I've been thrown in Fakebook jail for 3 days, you will have to put up with more of me.
  20. I live in Arizona, so good chance they are still good. And I would be glad to help.
  21. Conversion of a conversion, the Canopy Express is a rare vehicle to begin with. I started this April 1995. *Edit* I made it a 1948, simple to remove the door vent windows. For starters, anyone building the '50 Chevy pickup needs to know, the driveshaft should be assembled the other direction, the end at the differential is fixed, the instructions are incorrect. The other thing I've done so far, is correct the running boards, by shaving down the perimeter so the ribs stand proud, not recessed lines, that's a pet peeve of mine with this kit. Another pet peeve, is the firewall should be flush with the front of the cab, not recessed back, but that requires reworking the recess for the engine, so I have corrected that. Yet another pet peeve, is flat headlight reflectors, that has been corrected. Can't forget the door handles, they were shaved off, will make new ones, that will sag like the real thing. LOL The reason I put this away for so long, the interior needs a total scratch-build. The resin floor with wheel wells is completely incorrect. I am planning to not keep the wood floor boards, but make it like they put in diamond plate or a newer ribbed truck bed (will be last minute decision). I have turned the wheel well form, from Corian using the drill press. I'm now at the cardboard mockup stage, which will become part of the plastic form to vacuum-form the interior panels. I have the tailgate done, used eye glasses hinges, and interior panel is done. I'm now working on the driver seat, which I had previously cut down from the bench seat, but was incorrect. I am also making a new gas tank, based on the drawing in the repair manual that I kept from owning the real '48 5 window. Next steps are: bed sides with "rolled" edge, center taillight and also the other taillights, 4 on the floor gear shift, thinking about making a hood hinge with spring and latch, perhaps a roof rack that would be made of rebar, dings and dents with rust holes, will try some extreme weathering techniques. The final touch, what should the painting company name be (plan is to have spilled paint inside to use up paint)?
