  1. Bumping this old thread, because I searched before posting about something I was turned on to at a recent club meeting. I've done the X-acto blade thing before. I've done the thinned black in the lines, and afterwards thought it looked overdone on a pearl white paint job. It also depends on the kit, how much needs to be done on panel lines. Has anyone tried the Tamiya engraving tool? Not what most hobby shops carry, but the tungsten variety, price no object. There are other brands too, Saki-Gake and GSI Creos. They are also called line chisels. I've dealt with the pushing out of the plastic, these supposedly don't. Looks like a nice tool for straighter lines, not circles and tight curves. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.XTamiya+engraving+tool.TRS0&_nkw=Tamiya+engraving+tool&_sacat=220
  2. Gor for it! Cutting out the doors is half the challenge, doing hinges that work is still a bugger for me. I have never tried flocking, looks like another bugger. I was recently turned onto Zero Designs self-adhesive carpet, worked great so far. https://www.hiroboy.com/Red_Self_Adhesive_Flocking_Sheet--product--5152.html

  6. Awesome source!
  7. That's a lame excuse for not owning the real thing. The reason I don't own a Countach, is because I'm too tall. Hope posting my photo doesn't top my quota, so steal while you can. When I attended the IPMS Nationals in 2013, they had a tour to a Shelby museum. It's not blue, but still cool!
  8. with hydraulic lowrider
  9. Thank you everyone. Yes, inaccurate kits are great for this theme. I have an AMT Mercedes Gullwing that I want to use for a diorama.
  10. I got that Renault R5 rally car a long time ago, it's average quality, but has the engine. I might consider the Jaguar XKE.
  11. Rollercoaster Abusement Park.
  12. Barn Door Syndrome.
  13. turpentine thinner mixed
  14. Red Frog Hobbies, are they out of business? I ordered a Historic Miniatures Porsche 917 engine, I got an email from PayPal on Jan. 11, and then on Jan. 21 for payment withdrawal. But I have not received it, nor have they sent any emails, and I have contacted them twice via their website, and called three times but voicemailbox is full. I've had better service from Russians (yes I ordered a Porsche 959 Paris Dakar transkit, he responded with numerous emails, and I received it). Was hoping somebody lived close by, and/or knew them.

  17. Welcome from Prescott! Built 500, you ever sleep or eat?
  18. Welcome! I'm a Ferrari nut too. When I get better, I might build some.
  19. Welcome! I live in Arizona, used to ski Alta. Only 40 unbuilt kits, eh? Think we can fix that problem. I have that Ferrari kit in the box, along with many others. Look forward to seeing more of your work.
  20. Steven and you are the only ones who mentioned (S)Flickr. I had a bad experience on that website. I signed up when I joined the MINI Cooper forum, was fine until I became an addict and got involved in their political forums, and then the you-know-what hit the fan. It was so bad, that I had serial troll come after me, and (S)Flickr staff would not give a rats, total lack of customer service, and they made my account show as "adult content" when there is no porn. Then they got the brilliant idea to make it more "awesomeness", and trashed the platform, making it impossible for anyone with slow internet and/or computer. And then all the ads, forcing you to pay to reduce the clutter. So I tried Ipernity, but the interaction was not the same, so I have let that go idle. I will look into Fotki.
