Shes done and can be found here Thanks for playing along -
This is the Monogram release from 1973. I acquired it in the early 90s and built it as a Street Rod with sea foam green paint, a flathead painted body color and Cragars with wide white walls. This is what I picture would happen if a 90s Street Rod were to be neglected and left in the woods to rot and being rescued and brought up to today's looks. Along the way she lost quite a few detail parts so I had to scour the junkyard and scab parts from another kit -primarily the Revell '37 Ford Convertible. Over the course of the build I incorporated various techniques that I picked up over my years of building. Although, this build has some issues this was a fun build and I'm rather pleased how it turned out. How the sausage was made Thanks for looking!

Well I searched the garage and couldn't find the right size of solder. I swore I had a fresh spool but nope. I went to Michael's and no, they dont sell it. They have the iron but no solder. I figured they would for stained glass projects. I hopped over to the hardware store and they only had small gauge. I started thinking what about wire... I ended up buying 2' of 8 gauge and 2' of 10 gauge. I wanted aluminum but all they had was copper. No matter, I can paint it. It's easy to cut and easy to bend and gets me over the hump. The paint is a sharpie silver marker. The wood sticks are for support until the glue dries. That was a fun little task. Never did that before. Wont be long now... -

Nice job! I hate when cars are wrecked in movies

You knocked this one out of the park! Great movie and great car. It killed me when Spicoli drove it thru the construction site.

Thanks Jeremy. When I was a kid I dreamed of owning one and cruise around listening only to Fats Domino

Since I did the motor swap I needed a different drive shaft. I used the ends from the '37 Ford kit and mounted them to an aluminum tube. Radiator in place with the custom hoses. The headlights, door handles, master cylinder and side mirror are from the '37 Ford kit I used the interior that came with the kit and added red carpet. Glass was made from some blister packaging. Battery came from the junk pile. Tail light from the '37 Ford kit. Gotta fab up a hood prop and pick up some solder so I can finish up the exhaust and call this one done. -

I decided to keep the bench seat and door cards that came with the kit. All that's left to do is make up some glass and mount the exhaust pipes and muffler -
Taking a break on the filler. It's so frustrating take it off, put more on...its a vicious cycle. Finally got around to the door hinges and I'll be adding the trunk hinge today.

Doing body work is not one of my favorite things to do. This is what stalls most of my projects that need it. One thing that was desperately needed was to remove the mold seams. This wasn't too bad so I went after all 4 fenders. I went on the web and researched some convertibles. This one caught my eye. I tried to replicate how the top was cut I also tried to clean up my cut lines where the interior meets the body and also continued the contour as to drape the body over the bucket and sanded the filler at the patch. Then I deepened the trunk line with a scriber. Not quite sure where this will take me. I gotta figure out what's gonna happen with the interior. My nephew had high back bucket racing seats glued down. Not using them. I'll dig thru the junkyard to see what's there.
