  1. Well some one recognized model builders in today's newspaper ads.
  2. David, Of all things I like the tree! Not sure why but it adds texture, shadows, and enhances the setting. Gary
  3. Looks great!
  4. Good looking project. Please keep us posted.
  5. Jason et al, In the photo are the decals I have. The #66 in the lower right hand corner are the small 18MM roundels. The others are the larger 19mm roundels. The second photo shows the Camoradi decals. I have multiple of those if any one is in need of one. Send me a PM and I can mail the #66 and/or the Camoradi. I hope this helps. Gary
  6. I have #66 and #65 decals from Fred Cady in both 18mm and 19mm diameter across the roundel. Would those help?
  7. Nicely done. The strip lights are unique and hanging from the ceiling is a worthy addition. Can we have more pictures please.
  8. Now that is a great looking Porsche. Well done.
  9. I think you are missing the obvious Randy, you need to raise the ceiling.
  10. Very impressive Randy. Thanks for sharing.
  11. Way to go! Looking very good so please keep us posted.
  12. I like what you have done and are planning on doing. I saw a photo of a black Cobra model recently and was really taken with it. Please keep us posted on this one. Oh, your studio gives an interesting light and dark effect which I may give it a try. Thanks for sharing that.
  13. I was comparing it to the 1/24 C10, not the 1/25 AMT Mako, and it does check out correctly. The story goes the Mako Shark was built upon the C1 chassis of XP-700. And interesting the custom parts in the SMP 61 Corvette kit kind of mimic the XP700. (I said kind of)
  14. This is what I am going for with the WIX GT40 MKII. Oops....I was wrong, it does have the Gurney style door hump.
  15. Randy is correct the WIX GT40 is labeled 40th Anniversary Special on the bottom. I have used Snake's patented method of using non-acetone finger nail polish remover to take off the nefarious tampo markings and like this a lot better. Will now add the correct markings for the 1966 Le Mans. Just learned IndyCals makes the correct decals to convert to the #8 yellow Le Mans entry.
  16. This picture shows a brief comparison of the Franklin Mint and AMT promo Mako Sharks. At first I thought the FM Mako was too big but I checked the wheel bases including the C10 and they were all correct for their scale. I am assuming the AMT Snapper and the promo are the same since Snake said the paint scheme matches. One thing I thought odd is the exhaust tips are tiny on both models.
  17. Snake, what color is the snapper? It is not molded in the dark blue is it?
  18. It has been a good week to keep the mailman in business. I received a Franklin Mint Corvette Mako Shark and a WIX Ford GT40MKII, both at what I considered a reasonable price, less than current kit prices. The Mako Shark is pretty spectacular and I could find no faults. The version they modeled is the one updated with mag wheels and an ZL-I engine. The WIX Ford GT40MKII is the only diecast in 1/24 that I know of and is modeled on the Holman and Moody continuation car, thus the non original markings. My plan is to change the markings to the 1966 yellow Ford #8 at Le Mans and tone done the wheels and move the rearview mirror from inside to outside the drivers side window. I am not going to bother with the Gurney hump on the drivers door.
  19. Nicely done. That looks so cool, oops, Ray already said that.
  20. If you are willing to settle for a diecast Welly has done it in 1/24th scale. Found mine at Rite Aid for $9.99.
  21. Stars and Stripes Greenwood/Smothers Corvette Sebring 1971 Scott Kercher built this model from the Revell kit 85-2825. Scott is a real sticker for accuracy and realism in his models. After extensive research Scott made the following changes to the Revell kit documented in his build sheet. For the body he added a spoiler under the front, driving lights on front, re-profiled rear flairs and added small flairs on the front fenders. Opened the gas tank flap, no parking or back-up lights, no chrome plate holder on rear, no chrome taillight bezels, no emblems and moved the top back 1/16 to fit with duct tape across the top of the windshield. The turn signals in the grill were drilled out as well. For the interior he used a new steering wheel and column, full roll bar cage, new shifter and console delete, new dash, add p/e seatbelt for the driver’s seat. He added a fire bottle in the passenger foot well, cut out rear deck for the roll bar, and used a stock Corvette passenger seat. Externally Scott used bigger side pipes, HRM Minilites, removed the spare and added a large gas tank, 2 number recognition lights on both doors and Corvair engine fan brake extractors. He lowered the front suspension by making new coil springs. For the engine compartment, he added an oil cooler, oil filter, and wiring along with some fine screen around the carb filter. Deleted the fan, put an expansion tank on the passenger side firewall and added the roll bar hoops in the engine compartment with an open battery box on the passenger side. oil filter and wiring along The paint is Krylon white, and the beautiful Cartograph decals fit much better than he thought they would! The Goodyear tire stencils are by Replica and Miniatures of Maryland.
  22. Pat, You don't miss a thing. I just noticed the missing floor tiles. Very appropriate.
  23. Bob, great looking builds. Did you have to trim the VRM hood grilles just a tad? Its like they were scaled for 1/24 instead of 1/25.
  24. Great collection of survivors. Thank you for sharing them I hope you have a speedy recovery.
  25. I agree with Randy. Thanks for sharing these models.
