  1. Hi Ace. Thanks for the response. Since this is automotive grade tape, I wonder if it would be too harsh for model paint. You know, pulling up hobby paints underneath.
  2. I've been using this tape (I'm almost out) by 'Kamoi'. It seems like good tape: it is yellow like Tamiya and I thought it was! I went online and I can get it in Japan, but that seems expensive. Anybody know a good place to get this tape, or similar? Thanks
  3. I use a 3M Respirator I got from a safety equipment store, paid about $35.00. They last a long time. Right now mine is letting in some paint smells, so I think I have to replace it.
  4. When polishing out orange-peel laquer, I was thiinking of using automotive rubbing compound. I've had alot of trouble with Tamiya spray can laquer orange peel, so much so that I am presently avoiding it and using acrylic.
  5. I think I've noticed other modelers using Duplicolor paint. Is it laquer? Does it result in orange-peel? I noticed a display in the hardware store and it sure comes in a lot of colors; and for cheap! What can you tell me?
  6. Do NASCAR racing cars have window trim, and is it chrome or maybe black? I think Ferraris, etc., use black window trim. Thanks.
  7. I'm building a Monogram 1/24 NASCAR kit. I has what must be a pump, oil pump, driven by the driveshaft at the differential. I would like to know how to plumb this. Is it the engine oil? The sump is right by the rear suspension and diff. I will use, I guess, some flexible rubber fuel line. I suppose it just goes right up through the floor. What should I search for in my browser? Thanks (again).
  8. Ace: These headers are to be Top Fuel headers.
  9. Thanks Ace and Mooneyzs!
  10. I'm building up a roll cage for a '65 Dodge AFX car. I'm not sure exactly what scale. I intend to buy the material from an outfit in the UK that I read about on this forum: www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk. I purchased some styrene rod, 2.5 mm, for headers. It was very reasonably priced and no problem shipping from the UK. So I'm wondering what 1:1 diameter is used in AFX cars. By the way, this rod has the special property that it will not 'spring back' once it is bent. I don't know if this is good or bad? Thanks
  11. Thanks Mr. Mopar. I emailed Revell to request a new part no. 57 engine front. Maybe part of it was broken off.
  12. I have a problem with this kit, the engine. It has that convex roll-top intake. But in my kit, this intake is open on both ends! Any body know what I am talking about? This seems to me to be a terrible omission on Revells part.
  13. This thread can be closed.
  14. What can I say, samdiego?
  15. Can a person, using acrylic model paint, make a 'wash', using either water or alcohol? And how about a 'silver' wash for detailing something like black suspension pieces? Thanks for reading.
  16. veddy interesting!
  17. Hi Steve Z. About the Wagon Rod's front suspension: did you construct some kind of 'jig'? You've got me thinking, maybe I'll try the kit again. Thanks
  18. Has anybody tried to build up the front suspension on this kit? I have and I gave up! Easier to reproduce in metal, I think.
  19. Well, I think I am going to get me a glue gun. I want to be able to pick up the whole closed case and turn it upside down to view the chassis detail. And this model has all 4 wheels 'on the ground'. I do not have to correct a wonky build, with all due respect. As far as modifying the build, I use a lot of CA glue, so I wouldn't be able to take it apart, I don't think. But I think I am going to use more and more regular styrene-glue (or cement) so I can more easily take it apart to rebuild or modify. So what do the rest of you think of the hot-glue-gun idea?
  20. I'm speaking of the clear styrene cases to display finished model cars (1/24-1/25 scale). I was thinking of maybe of using Gorilla glue on the tires where they contact the styrene case. I thought CA or epoxy would be a bit much. Any thoughts any body? Thanks
  21. Hello CapSat 6. I prefer the highest-performance one: most spoilers, biggest engine, etc. I just think it is great, this forum and it's users! Thanks.
  22. I'd rather not go with a pre-decorated body. It seems to me that a lot of these modern Challengers look very similar. I think one of the model-car magazines did a 'comparo' on 2 different brands of Challenger kits. My neighbor wants me to build her a model. Help!
  23. If you are looking for the actual BOOKS,. try Alibris Used Books. AND, they have a special section for RARE books.
  24. Did anybody ever kit the '77 Olds Cutlass 442? Anything close to the '77, Maybe a '76 or '78? Thanks
