Trying to plan ahead for this winter. I live in Michigan and paint outside in my shed, so basically once October hits I'm done painting. I actually painted the '79 Trans Am Testors One Coat Icy Blue last year and cleared it this year. It's been on hold while I debate what color to do the interior in. The '34 Ford Roadster Pickup is done in Testors One Coat Mystic Emerald. The '71 Hemi Cuda is done in Tamiya TS-34 Camel Yellow. The '78 Corvette is done in Tamiya TS-55 Dark Blue. The '62 Corvette is done in Tamiya TS-60 Pearl Green. Not shown is a '66 Shelby Mustang GT350 that is waiting to be primed and painted in Testors Burgundy Red Metallic Enamel.Hopefully I can get them all done, though I might start on the Truck sooner rather than later.

Revell '41 Willys "Demon II"-Now Under Glass...
Dragonhawk1066 replied to mustang1989's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I just need to be more patient with my builds, my Willys was only my fifth finished kit after more than 20 years away from building, and I was really just too anxious to get it done.. I'm still learning a lot and I gotta say your build is teaching me a lot. Looking forward to seeing this one done. -
Revell '41 Willys "Demon II"-Now Under Glass...

That interior is absolutely outstanding! Sure beats the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH out of mine in my '41 Willys. Shows me I have a long way to go as far as imagination and detailing are concerned. -
Nice build! Mean looking car with a nice two-tone paint job.
-
Nice looking garage! Nice job on the walls and tables and other details. And my favorite Muscle Car-1970 Trans Am!
-
Very nice job! Love the paint and the custom touches.
-
Nice job on the Cyclone! Don't see enough of these in real life or in kit form.
-
A great idea done very well. Nice job.

What an exceptional build and attention to detail. Great color combo for a fantastic paint job.

Looks fantastic! Great detailing!

Thanks for the compliments. When I was buying some kits and paints for my return to the hobby last year, I just looked for the kits that interested me and some of my favorite colors and some "snazzy" looking colors. Didn't have any clues as to what color for what kit, but I knew right away that this kit and the Purplicious were were going to be a pair.

All done with build #5. Monogram's 1941 Willys Street Rod kit in 1/25 scale. The color is Testors One Coat Lacquer Purplicious. The frame and engine block were also done in this color as was the steering wheel, column, and dash. I think this is a beautiful color and feel like it laid down real well. I did however notice after I sprayed the first coat of clear, that I should have wet sanded the body first as there is just a bit of "orange peel" in a couple of places. I also probably could have put down another coat or two of the clear for better shine. Eventually I plan on buying some car wax for my models, so that will probably help too. The interior is done in Tamiya Neutral Gray with Model Master Light gray inserts. There are some brush marks left on the seats and console due to the paint being kind of old(finally went through my dads stuff that I didn't know my mom kept after he passed away almost 7 years ago). Doing this interior definitely taught me a whole bunch of things not to do when doing two-tones. The chassis and exhaust were done in your typical black, aluminum, and steel . The front and rear suspensions were a little fragile in my opinion on this kit, as I didn't think there were very many strong contact points especially for the rear with the weight of the bigger tires. Everything on this build is from the kit except for the plug wires and boots. This is a really nice kit overall, and I really enjoyed building it. Thanks for looking.

Great job and awesome decal work! I don't know how you made it through three straight builds with decals like these. I probably wouldn't have made it through this one.

Finally making some progress on my Monogram '41 Willys Street Rod 1/25 scale. Went through some of my Dad's old paints and supplies that I didn't realize my Mom kept after he passed almost 7 years ago, and was able to find a couple of colors that I liked for the interior which was holding me up on this build, so I worked on that last week. Been working on the plug wires the last couple of days along with some minor assembly. Was able to get the few decals on last night and laid down the 2nd coat of clear today. Basically at the final assembly stage now, so I hope to have it done in about a week. It's done in Testors One Coat Lacquer Purplicious over white primer. I almost used the kit decal flames, which actually looked pretty good after I tested one out on the car, but decided against going that way because I liked the paint job too much to cover up. Plus I didn't want the car to look like the box with just a different color, so I found the Tribal decals on the Revell '62 Corvette Roadster 2in1 decal sheet and thought they would provide the look I was after. Everything else on this build came with the kit except the plug wires

Superb work all around by all involved in this project. Very well done. I really need to find some of those Minions, I thank you in advance if you would be so kind as to tell me where I could find some as they seem to be in perfect scale.

PDMC Open Air Car Show 2017 Club Build

WOW!! That is absolutely incredible. The vehicles, the figures, the scenery are all extremely well done, and I love the Minions scattered throughout the display. I also agree with you on the best parts of the diorama, your wife did some extraordinary work there. -
1961 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport (Lindberg)

Outstanding build. nice job on the trim and interior especially. I'm doing a '62 Corvette in the Tamiya Pearl Green(should have it painted in a week or so) and only hope it turns out close to as nice as your Impala. -
Fantastic job! That is a beautiful color and a very smooth and well done paint job. Everything about this car is absolutely stunning. I love the idea of building larger scale models, but the largest I have is a 1/16 Shelby Cobra that I might tackle next year.

That looks like a real car! Phenomenal job on every aspect of this build. The panel lines look fantastic and the wood grain is incredible. I have seen your tutorial on panel lines and will be trying on my next builds, and would really like to know your wood grain trick for future builds also. You do some of the finest work that I have seen on scale models.

Very sharp! Very nice builds. I like the Fantasy NASCAR builds. I have a ton of ideas if I ever start doing Stock Car kits again. I had a bunch of 1/24 scale diecasts and decals to make about 10-15 years ago, but never did and ended up selling them all off. Hindsight is really 20/20 .

Whatever problems it gave you, it looks like it turned out well.

Nice job, they look good together. Dodge certainly did right in designing the new Challengers.

Revell 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A: Done!!
Dragonhawk1066 replied to Dragonhawk1066's topic in Model Cars
Thanks for the kind words. You're being too hard on yourself, too. 1. I need to remember my camera takes really good pics, and view them for any touch-ups or what-not before I post. 2.Because I already painted all those things black, I had to paint over them with beige, and then I used a wood touch-up marker, Walnut to be exact. I do wish I could remember where I got this tip from so I could give proper credit. 3. Thanks, I will say this is the best plug wire job I have done. Due to how the exhaust manifolds attached to the heads, I had to keep the wires tight on the valve covers, which taught me to have a little more patience with this step. 4. The hood pins were just done with a toothpick that I kept dipping in the residual paint on the inside of the bottle cap of silver paint after shaking it. Another trick I learned from a number of sources. The spoiler emblem, thank God, is actually a decal supplied on the decal sheet. No way I could get it that good otherwise. The rest of the trim is in fact BMF. Under the rear spoiler is the only place where it turned out good on this car, Lol. 5. Lucked out on the dash, I used a Molotow Chrome Pen on the bezels and it took a few touch-ups to clean it up, and I used a pencil to do the gauge detail. I actually remember where I got that tip from, Dan's Scale Model Creations on youtube. He's got a lot of great tips. The orange peel I have to live with on this one, I just err'd on the side of caution not to burn through the paint. I know I can do better and hope it will show on my next builds. -
