AMT 1964 Chevelle Malibu SS in Turquoise Metallic.
Dragonhawk1066 replied to Dragonhawk1066's topic in Model Cars
Thanks guys, much appreciated! -
Here's my version of the AMT 1964 Chevelle Malibu SS Craftsman Plus Series kit. The color is Delta Turquoise with a couple of drops each of Anita's Topaz and Delta Navy Metallic for the final shade. It was cleared with Createx UVLS 4050 Gloss which was then wet-sanded, polished, and waxed. I used Bare Metal Foil for the window trim. The interior was helped with some embossing powder for the carpet, a MCV Products steering wheel, and a sewing pin for the shifter. An Iceman Collections Custom LSX engine and transmission provides the power and is an excellent product. A combination of 9 gauge wire, 1/8" aluminum tubing, and MCV Products mufflers was used for the exhaust. Putting the "power to the pavement" is an excellent set of Jay's Resin Wheels and Tires 20 and 21" Torq Thrust wheels and tires. Overall a pretty nice kit lends itself well to being customized. Check out my YouTube channel for updates showing some of the work that was done on this one. Thanks for looking!

AMT Chevy S10 Xtreme…1999!
Dragonhawk1066 replied to Jordan White's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Can't wait for the S-10 Extreme! A Syclone and/or Typhoon would pry some cash from my wallet as well, LOL. -
Thank you for the response, Steve. It seemed weird seeing the tubbed wells without the narrowed rear.

Thanks for the info everybody, just glad I'm not seeing things, LOL.

Looking at the bottom of the box parts layout on the '69 GTX, it kind of looks like a Pro Street frame to me with those tubs. Maybe I just don't know much about Mopar frames, but that's what it looks like to me. I do know there were a couple of Pro Street versions, one being a GTX and the other a Super Bee. Those of you with more knowledge than me can correct/explain.

Here's my version of the AMT 1970 Dodge Challenger in as close to F4 Green as I could get. I used Createx Pearl Lime with a few drops of Createx Opaque Black to darken the color. I used Createx 4053 High Gloss Clear and gave it the wet-sand, polish, and wax treatment. I used Bare Metal Foil for all of the trim, using the foil under paint technique for the Challenger side script. For the kit supplied separate vinyl top I just airbrushed on Apple Barrel English Ivy Green with a mixture of satin and matte clear. For the interior I used embossing powder for the carpet and used Apple Barrel English Ivy Green for the seats, carpet, door panels, and dashboard. I just used multiple browns and a slight drybrush of black for the woodgrain. Kit decals were used for the gauges. I used a mixture of orange and red craft paint for the engine, and added spark plug wires and a coil for extra detail. I used Ammo by mig matte aluminum for the wheels, added valve stems foe added detail, and sanded the tire tread. A decent kit considering the age of the tooling, it was lacking a bit in details, but the overall fit was pretty good. I do have some update videos on my youtube channel for anybody that might be interested. As always, thanks for looking!

Createx Acrylic Paints
Dragonhawk1066 replied to Radretireddad's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I have been using Createx for a few years now and love them! One should not wet sand the colors, but after at least 72 hours of drying/curing the clears can be carefully wet sanded. While Hobby lobby has a smaller selection of their paints, spraygunner.com seems to carry their whole line. I have a couple of tutorials concerning the clears on my youtube channel if anyone is interested.
