  1. Looks like you have it figured out, but here's a few in-progress pics of my '67 GT Fastback I did in April. I did glue the front and rear on before the paint process, and I did glue the rad into the body.
  2. I agree with both the thinner paint/lower pressure, and spin the wheel while painting ideas. I sprayed thinned Molotow at about 12-15 psi and kept the flow limited with a dual action airbrush, while rotating the cap of an empty spray can to try to keep the coat even all around. Spraying from a proper angle is also very helpful. This was a bit cruder of a method than individually on a skewer, but it did work for me. You guys come up with some great methods for such applications. These aren't really deep like pro street wheels, but I think they turned out ok.
  3. Looks great!
  4. Very well done replica of a cool and interesting truck!
  5. WOW!! That is absolutely incredible! Your details and craftmanship are beyond compare!
  6. Outstanding! Well done with just the right amount of weathering!
  7. Looks good, nice job!
  8. Very nice!
  9. That certainly is a bright green, nice job!
  10. Looks good, I like the color!
  11. Looks good! That's a pretty nice kit to build.
  12. Very sharp! Well done!
  13. Well done! The convertible Monte really should have been a thing!
  14. Looks awesome! Great color combo!
  15. Here's the pickup bed and fender version without the hood. As far as Decoart vs. Craftsmart, I have no real preference. Most of the craft paints are pretty much the same in quality and thickness, and they're pretty interchangeable as I have no problem mixing one brand with another to get custom colors. I do have a lot more Decoart Metallics simply because the store we shop at has them in their small craft section. I got some Decoart at Hobby Lobby as well, but they do not carry Craftsmart paints there. I just don't visit any stores that carry the Craftsmart Metallics very often. I use Decoart, Folkart, Apple Barrel, Craftsmart, Anita's, and Delta with no real preference. Honestly, I just go with whatever color grabs me or looks closest to what I have in mind at whatever store I happen to be in.
  16. I was able to prime and lay down the Charcoal Gray basecoat on the fenders, hood, and truck bed this morning, and then sprayed on the Pearl Plum this afternoon. I also sprayed the roof with white primer before taping off the stripe pattern and painting that Pearl Plum. I think everything looks pretty good. I'll get the clear sprayed on tomorrow.
  17. I believe that would be the Ala Kart grille? As far as I know that’s the only thing missing to be able to build the Kart from this kit. I would love to have the grille that fits the hood, but sadly I wouldn’t be able to pay for it for a month or so as finances are that tight right now for me. I appreciate the offer though.
  18. OK, so a quick mock-up shows it sitting too high for my taste. I could lower the front a tad, but I think I'll go a different direction. I'm going to add the spare fenders and hood, along with the removable top. My wife thinks it looks cute that way, so who am I to argue, LOL. I trimmed the flash on those parts today and should be able to prime and spray the charcoal basecoat tomorrow, followed by the Pearl Plum Saturday, and hope it matches well enough. Not sure yet if I want to add the custom truck bed, but I'm going to paint it too and let the wife make that call. I do need to add a piece of strip styrene on the inside front of the hood on each side to eliminate the gap toward the top before I prime and paint.
  19. I got the interiors painted today, and also sprayed on some Satin Varnish to add some sheen. I still have some more details to paint, but I'll go ahead and start assembly and add the details when I get to them. I'll probably use the kit engine for the Hot Rod, but maybe a different induction system from the parts box. I'm also still tossing around wheel/tire combo ideas for the Rod. One of these years when I get a little extra cash?, I'll but some embossing powder for more realistic looking carpet.
  20. Thanks guys! I'm glad I can help! I really like using the craft paints, in fact I use them almost exclusively now. Thanks! I agree about the amount of shine, I'll wet sand and polish it to smooth it out so hopefully it won't get too much of a shine. I actually do have the Caribbean as well and it is a nice color too.
  21. Very nice! I love the color choice!
  22. Very well done! Very realistic weathering, and an excellent display!
  23. It may have taken a lot of work, but the final result is outstanding!!
