  1. I sprayed the clear coats on both bodies today. I started with Decoart Gloss Varnish on the stock body, but either thinned it too much or not enough as it dried with some spots all over. After three coats, I decided to leave well enough alone and wait to see if it would sand/polish out. Next I mixed up Createx UVLS Gloss for the Hot Rod body, but mixed that a little too thick at first and my airbrush had some trouble spraying it consistently. After a couple of adjustments, I had a perfect mix. It laid down so nice on the Hot Rod, I decided to try it over the Decoart Varnish on the stock body. Two coats there did the trick. Still needs to be smoothed out, but much better.
  2. Thanks, yeah that did look pretty good together didn't it? I really wanted to go with the Laguna Blue, otherwise I probably would have just cleared the primer, lol.
  3. Very nice! Great color choice and interior color to go with it.
  4. Well done!
  5. Looks good! Well done! I like the garage background as well!
  6. Looks pretty good!
  7. I mixed some metallic charcoal gray and sprayed it on the Hot Rod as a base coat last night, then sprayed the Createx Pearl Plum on this morning. I really like how it looks so far. I also sprayed Apple Barrel Sunny Day Yellow on the wheels for the stock version. I'm hoping to get the interiors sprayed tomorrow.
  8. I'll be airbrushing Decoart Duraclear Gloss Varnish on this one. I've also used Pledge Floor Gloss, Tamiya TS-13, Testors Gloss, and Krylon Short Cuts Gloss on craft paints all with excellent results, especially the lacquer clears.
  9. I managed to get the Laguna Blue sprayed on the stock body today. I like how it looks and can't wait to get the clear on in a couple of days. I realized I needed to strip a few more plated parts for the custom version, so I did that today. I will primer them tomorrow and hopefully get the Hot Rod painted Monday. I also mixed up some engine paint and sprayed that this afternoon.
  10. I've used them a lot for the past four years. I still use the Testors and Tamiya spray cans from time to time, but the craft acrylics are pretty much my main painting source. I started out thinning them with plain blue automotive windshield washer fluid which worked well, but I've since been introduced to a homebrew thinner mixture that is 3 parts distilled water, 1 part 91% isopropyl alcohol (although I'm sure 70% will do fine), and 4-5 drops of glycerin as a flow improver per 8 oz. batch. This mixture, to me, works perfectly and makes a very good paint flow. I usually start at 50/50, but sometimes can get to 60-65% thinner to paint, depending on the thickness of the paint.
  11. I got the flat black and glossy black painted on today, using Delta Ceramcoat for the flat, and Anita's for the glossy black. I did change my mind on the colors too, I'll be using an Apple Barrel color called Laguna for the stock version and Createx Pearl Plum for the custom roadster. Hopefully I'll be able to get those painted tomorrow.
  12. I'm definitely following along! When I look at this I get an "Alien" vibe!
  13. Nice looking Jag!
  14. Very sharp! That turned out nice, well done!
  15. Well done! Looks good!
  16. I decided to start the Mod Rod next, since I've really only built one car from this general era I figured it was time for another, or two actually. I'll be doing the stock version in Anita's Dark Plum craft paint with black fenders, top, and interior. I'm undecided on the color/scheme for the custom version but should be decided tomorrow. I got the parts I'll be using primed today, but still need to strip the chrome off more parts tomorrow to prime those as well. No real reason for the tan primer, I was gifted a can of Rustoleum Camo Flat Tan, so I thought I'd see how it works as a primer. Looks good so far. This kit has almost every part to build the Ala Kart, save for the nose piece and I would have built it like that, but I'll go for the old roadster look instead.
  17. That looks amazing! Could easily pass for the real thing!
  18. Thanks guys! Thanks! Here's some better interior pics.
  19. Looking good, really liking that color1
  20. That is wicked! What an outstanding looking ride, and that engine looks right at home in there! They should make a real one for Cruella DeVille's new ride!
  21. Here's my version of Monogram's 1999 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra. This was actually a pretty decent kit and was pretty fun to build. The paint is a custom mixture using Chroma Molten Metals Copper, Decoart Cherry Red, and Delta Black craft paints sprayed through an airbrush. The body was then taped off for the Decoart Extreme Sheen Obsidian/Delta Black mixed stripes. The clear is Krylon Short Cuts Gloss also sprayed through an airbrush, although that was an adventure that fortunately came out pretty good in the end after lots of wet-sanding and polishing. The interior was sprayed in Apple Barrel Dark Granite Gray craft paint, them masked off to spray with Anita's Glossy Black craft paint for the two-tone. The engine, chassis, exhaust, and suspension parts were sprayed with Mission Aluminum, Anita's Glossy Black, and Green Stuff World Chrome. After assembly, the kit wheels just seemed too tiny, so I opted for the optional wheels and tires from the current Revell 1970 Pontiac Firebird kit. I wasn't sure on the chrome wheel look, so I sprayed on 3 coats of Tamiya Smoke TS-71 to knock down the shine. I really like how this one turned out. Thanks for looking!
  22. Very nice! Great color!
