  1. That is sharp! Very well done!
  2. I like it! Outstanding job!
  3. I was going to use the Decoart Gloss Varnish for the clear, but I think I got a bad bottle, so I went with Createx 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear. The more I use the Createx, the more I like it as it sprayed nicely and looks pretty good. Not as good as lacquers mind you, but usually after wet-sanding it has a decent shine. Speaking of wet-sanding, after it sets for two or three days that's what I'll be doing, lol. I also started detailing the dash and wheels (I'll be going with Magnum 500's on this one), and mostly finished the engine/transmission. I still have to make power steering pump and alternator brackets for the engine.
  4. I did some airbrushing onto the rest of the parts Wednesday and Thursday, while also applying the decals on Thursday. I have to admit I did apply the trunk decals to see how they'd look. I really didn't like the look, more like just another Chevelle imposter (Although I do like Chevelle's), so off they went. Today started the tedious detail painting stage of the build, and hopefully tomorrow allows me to get the clear sprayed on.
  5. Skip a couple of days to Monday, when I mixed up a bottle of Delta Navy Blue Metallic craft paint to airbrush onto the body. Properly thinned, the paint sprayed nicely and four coats later it was nice and Blue. I will say I need better lighting in the building room, both for painting and picture taking, as the blue stands out much more in person.
  6. While I'm in a bit of a hold on the AMT Mod Rod Hot Rod, I went ahead and got started on the AMT 1969 Olds 442. I had previously cleaned and prepped the parts on this one in early August, so I sprayed the primer on Saturday.
  7. Looks good, great color choice!

  18. I spent today tinkering around with engine choices for the Hot Rod. I started by adding some Chevy heads, intake and water pump to the kit motor. However, while sorting through my parts box I found the extra Buick V-8 from the AMT 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery kit. It seems to be a perfect fit. I had already primed it way back when I built the kit, so I assembled it and sprayed some Green stuff World Chrome on it with Mission Aluminum for the trans. I brush painted some of the Pearl Plum on the valve covers too. Plenty of detailing still to do on it, but I like it.
  19. It's funny that I've shown so many pics of the Hot Rod version getting painted, while I continuously pick away at the stock version without taking progress pics. That's just how my memory works, lol. Anyways, the stock version is just about finished, but somehow I lost the coolant hose part so I glued the radiator to the hood since I won't be taking any engine pics. I'll have the completed pics posted when I get the Hot Rod done so I can get them taken all at once. I'll get to piecing that engine together tomorrow with some parts box items to help make it look less toy-like.
  20. Looks like you have it figured out, but here's a few in-progress pics of my '67 GT Fastback I did in April. I did glue the front and rear on before the paint process, and I did glue the rad into the body.
  21. I agree with both the thinner paint/lower pressure, and spin the wheel while painting ideas. I sprayed thinned Molotow at about 12-15 psi and kept the flow limited with a dual action airbrush, while rotating the cap of an empty spray can to try to keep the coat even all around. Spraying from a proper angle is also very helpful. This was a bit cruder of a method than individually on a skewer, but it did work for me. You guys come up with some great methods for such applications. These aren't really deep like pro street wheels, but I think they turned out ok.
