  1. Beautifully done in a great color combo! Great details and I love the wheels!
  2. Nice job on all three!
  3. Well done on both! I really like the green!
  4. Excellent job, it looks great!
  5. That turned out very nice, and yes it is a very good kit!
  6. Thanks Tom! Brushing on craft paints, especially metallics, is much more difficult than with an airbrush as they tend to be streaky and not cover very well. Thanks! Thanks! Thank you! Thanks Larry! Thank you Nigel! I don't have a favorite as yet. The toughest part of doing both at once was keeping the parts organized. My mind no longer seems capable of multi-tasking and keeping track of things since I stopped working a few years ago. The wet-sanding and polishing part was particularly time consuming and labor intensive to me as well. About as much as I'll do anymore is spray paint bodies at the end of summer for winter building. Thanks Steve! Thanks Mike! It's not really a question of need anyways, lol. I almost picked up a couple more on my last trip there last week as well, but decided to limit my spending to the AMT '68 Camaro Z28 and another AMT '55 Chevy. Like you, I have an interest in building them in maybe a color they were not offered in for that year, like a dark green, red, or silver/gunmetal. I also have plans for getting a couple more to do as 1973 versions with the hood bird. So many color/hood bird options, just like the '79's. I hope your HL still has some when you go back!
  7. Thanks, I appreciate it! I was undecided on white or blue, so I bought two and each color, lol. I did not. I lucked out and the script is nicely molded and detailed, so after painting and clear I ever so carefully and lightly painted each letter with Tamiya X-11 Chrome Silver Acrylic. Thanks! I'm trying to make it look like how a car guy, like myself, would have his actual garage. I have a few more additions in mind as well. I'm also slowly working on a "Speed Shop" with an office, restrooms, employee breakroom, and paint booth. I need more space before I get too far with it though, lol.
  8. Thanks! I love Trans Am's as well. If you have the Revell Smokey and the Bandit kit, it's a really nice kit. The decals do take some patience and a little planning, but they look really nice. The AMT/MPC kit is a different story altogether with lesser details, poorer parts fit, and touchy decals. I did the MPC kit in my teens, but no longer have it. This is the Revell kit finished.
  9. I finished these two up yesterday, and I gotta say I'll probably never try to do two kits at the same time again, lol. The white T/A was airbrushed with Apple Barrel Gloss White craft paint, the interior with Apple Barrel Jet Black. The blue T/A was airbrushed with a custom mixture of Decoart Dazzling Metallics craft paint, as was the interior, while both chassis were sprayed in a mixture of red and orange craft paint. I added valve stems, door locks, ignition wires, and heater hoses for extra detail. I did the window trim in Bare Metal Foil and added Trans Am script on the fenders and rear spoiler from Keith Marks. I feel like I might have been better off and done a better job on both had I done them separately instead of at the same time, but overall I am still pretty happy with them both. Thanks for looking!!
  10. And they're done! I think it's safe to say that I won't do that again, as my mind can't seem to handle two projects at once. even nearly identical subjects with lower parts counts. I want to thank everybody that followed and commented on this thread, even though I'm not very good at doing in-progress updates, lol. More pics will be available in the Under glass section, but here's a couple of teasers.
  11. Nice work! I'd love to come across that 1/16 Camaro kit for a reasonable price!
  12. That color looks great. Where did you find the paint, was it with the other craft paints? I haven't seen that brand before. That's the great thing about craft paints, you can whip out a nice paint job in less than a half hour and it's dry to the touch.
  13. The wash looks about right to me. Are you going stock or custom? That is a great kit, I've done two of them and have two more to build.
  14. Charger looks great! I really need to get that kit real soon. Those 1:1's look awesome as well, and they look like much more fun to play with, lol.
  15. That turned out really nice!
  16. Well done! Very nice, and I like your wheels better!
  17. Wow! They both look great! I really like the colors on both, but especially the truck. Well done!
  18. My right arm and hand are not going to forgive me any time soon, but I got both bodies wet-sanded, polished, and waxed. I started with 2000 grit, then 4000, then 6000. I went over the stripes with 2000 grit three different times to get them to where I was happy. The clear was plenty tough enough after 3 days drying time to handle some rigorous wet-sanding with 2000 grit without burning through. After wet-sanding, I polished them with Novus #2, and then applied a coat of Meguiar's Cleaner Wax. I also painted the head-liners, and started painting the engine bays just before dinner (no pics of that yet).
  19. The decals come in the kit, it's a really nice sheet.
