Thanks everyone! Thanks Doug! This one was almost done in a non-factory Metallic Gray, but I was able to, at least in my opinion, mimic Calypso Coral close enough to go with it. I may buy another real soon to do either in that Metallic Gray, or another non-factory color such as a Dark Bronze.

The body work to add the Gremlin back to the Daytona is excellent. As is the interior grafting, and the whole interior looks fantastic. The metallic blue is absolutely beautiful, especially after the cut and buff. This is going to look amazing when done!!

Just finished Revell's 1969 Boss 302 Mustang. I used a custom mixture of Decoart Jack O' Lantern Orange and Folkart Lipstick Red for the color ( I was going for Calypso Coral, I think I got pretty close) and cleared it with Tamiya TS-13 Clear Gloss. The same colors, but with a slightly different mixture, were used for the chassis. The interior is just Apple Barrel Black with Pledge brushed on the seats, dash, and door panels for the sheen, while the woodgrain is all kit decals. The hood was painted with Krylon Short Shots Flat Black with a quick polish of Novus #2. I used BMF for the window trim, brushed on Molotow for the grille trim, and added heater hoses, ignition wires, door locks , and valve stems for extra detail. This is a great kit, although I wish the interior were a little more detailed, and everything fit together very well. I may have to buy and build another, lol. Thanks for looking!!

I finished the grille and taillight panel today, and got the grille installed into the front end. For the Mustang emblem, I painted it silver, then used a thin brush to do the clear red and clear blue. After those dried, I then painted the white in the middle and used a toothpick to clean up any excess. For the grille trim, I dropped a couple of drops of Molotow Chrome into a bottle cap and carefully brush painted around the grille, and also the Running Mustang on the emblem. Tamiya Black Panel Line Accent was dabbed onto the gas cap for that effect.

Got a little more work done on this fine Labor Day. I wet-sanded the clear starting with 2000, 4000, and 6000 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Then I switched to Micro Mesh polishing pads for 8000 and 12000. After that was some Novus #2 scratch remover followed by a coat of Meguiar's Cleaner Wax. I got the decklid decal on, too. I also dripped some Molotow Chrome into the airbrush and sprayed the air cleaner lid.

The final result looks pretty darn good to me!

Final clear coats went on yesterday, and the Krylon Short Cuts Flat Black for the hood and vent panel were sprayed on today.

Very cool looking! I personally, severely lack the imagination to do anything remotely like that, lol, so I tip my cap to those of you who can!

Thanks for the info, I had considered that possibility, but price and availability at the moment make that particular kit out of the question with the cheapest one being $80 for me. I'm not really worried about 100% accuracy, so the Revell kit with a few tweaks and touches will be plenty close enough for what I have in mind. If Fujimi happens to re-release that kit and I can I can obtain it for around 30-40 dollars American in the next year or so, I would probably be inclined to go that route, so I will definitely keep an eye out.

I use rattle cans, mostly Tamiya and some Model Master Lacquers strictly during the warm months as I spray them in my shed and live in Michigan where it gets too cold to paint outside for months at a time. I strictly spray acrylics inside through my airbrush. If there are any kits I want to paint using colors available from Tamiya (no more Model Master) or Testors Extreme Lacquers, I hold off until spring to start them, or at the end of summer I paint multiple bodies ahead of time. During the cold months, I use craft paints and have just started using Createx for bodies. I do use the airbrush on every kit anyways for small parts, engines, chassis', and interiors.

As far as T.V./Movie Cars goes, so many could be considered glaringly absent in kit form, but the Griswold Family Truckster gets my vote. Using existing kits with small tweaks and or decals could produce Herbie, Rockford's Firebird, and Wayne's World's Pacer, just to name a quick few. Completely new tooling could produce the previously mentioned Black Beauty, Blues Brothers Cop Car, and my initial thought of the Griswold Family Truckster, again just naming a few there. If one looks at movie and t.v. car possibilities though, one's head could spin pretty quickly. What seems completely obvious to one person could be an absolute afterthought to another. A quick Google search brings up the unlikely possibility of the Mad Max Interceptor.

Today was decal and Bare Metal Foil day. I had heard some rumblings about having trouble with the Boss decals, so I was more careful than usual when applying these. The extra care and patience paid off as thankfully they went on very nicely. As far as the foil, I really miss the "New Improved" Foil, as the regular chrome is just too thick for my liking. Word from the company is that it's the same stuff and they just ran out of labels, but anybody that has used both knows that's not true. Unfortunately, I have to live with it, as I am unwilling to use any other methods at the moment. I need to do a few touch-ups, but that will be done at final assembly with Molotow. Hopefully tomorrow I can bury it all in more clear!

Thanks guys! Yes, probably a light coat, then medium, then heavy. Thanks! That's exactly the color I was going for. Very tough to mix and gauge when dried as I used craft paints that dry to a very matte finish, making it appear darker. I had to trust that I had the mixture correct before applying the clear.
