  1. Can't wait to see more progress on this one. I bought this roll of wire on amazon for about 12 bucks. Basically a lifetime supply with 8 colors and 1,000 feet.
  2. It's funny, I've never actually used their acrylic clear, but I am surprised it would need to be thinned. I believe they do sell the TS-13 in small bottles, I think it's what's listed as LP-9, but I've only ever used the TS-13 Gloss Clear straight from the can in Tamiya's line. I also really like Testors' Gloss Clear 1261 and Wet Look Clear 1834, also straight from the can, but the first couple of coats over acrylics and craft paints have to be really light.
  3. Nice job on the Foose Truck! I kind of like the satin finish, but I bet it would've really popped with a gloss. What Tamiya clear did you use? The TS-13 is gloss, while the TS-79 is semi-gloss and TS-80 is flat. I've really been wanting to try the TS-65 Pearl clear as well. Thinning the craft paint with Pledge should also give you a glossier finish, I've done that a few times myself. Trial and error and lots of practice and experimentation will be your best friend and best gauge of how to and not to do things for the best results. I have numerous NASCAR test bodies and white plastic spoons for my mad scientist tests, lol.
  4. I used to thin my craft paints with plain blue automotive windshield washer fluid, but I was recently steered toward a new thinner. It's a poor man's variation of Tamiya X-20A. It is 3 parts distilled water, 1 part 91% Isopropyl alcohol, and 5-7 drops of glycerin as a flow improver, probably a little more for a bigger batch. I really like this thinner mixture since I started using it. I usually spray the paints at 20-22 psi as well, but the Pledge is so thin 15 psi is all it takes.
  5. Thanks! I've both brushed it on and airbrushed it, but mostly airbrush it on. It's almost like water so it doesn't need thinning, you just have to experiment with the air pressure. I use a Paasche H at about 15-18 psi to keep it from going on too heavy.
  6. I finished the tow vehicle for my boat and trailer today. The color is a custom mix of Decoart Extreme Sheen Garnet and Delta Ceramcoat Black Pearl, and the cab/roof in Black Pearl. I used Pledge Floor Gloss for the clear. For the interior, I painted the dash body color, the floorboards in Apple Barrel Pavement, and the door panels and seat in Delta Ceramcoat Sand Dune. The dash detail is mostly kit decals as is the seat cover. The wood grain on the bed is also decals, but I did paint the bottom of the bed as seen in the chassis pic. This is pretty much an out of the box build, but I did add wider parts box tires, the poverty caps from the Revell '66 Suburban kit (They were a bit more detailed), the C-10 emblem decals (also from the Suburban kit), valve stems, plug wires, and heater hoses. This was a really nice kit, and I really enjoyed the build, especially pairing it with the boat and trailer. The bed lining up with the cab was the only issue I had, but fortunately it was a pretty easy fix, and I'm very happy with the results. Thanks for looking!!
  7. I finished up the boat and trailer today. The color is a custom mix of Decoart Extreme Sheen Garnet and Delta Ceramcoat Black Pearl on the deck, Black Pearl on the upper hull, and Anita's Pearl White on the bottom, all craft paints sprayed through my airbrush and cleared with Pledge Floor Gloss. The seats are done in Delta Ceramcoat Sand Dune, and the floorboards in Apple Barrel Pavement. The same colors were used on the trailer, and I added the poverty caps from the Revell '66 Suburban kit to match the tow vehicle and the taillights are from the parts box. This was a pretty quick, easy, and fun build and went together with no problems.
  8. Very nice, clean build!!
  9. That's pretty wild looking! I like that color!
  10. A quick mock of the front end on the frame, I also got the individual Chevrolet letters on the tailgate, and the underneath of the bed painted.
  11. Nope, I used Decoart Duraclear Gloss Varnish on the white and blue Trans Am's, and for this truck I airbrushed on a couple coats of Pledge Floor Gloss. I wasn't going to try to wet sand the clear on this truck, so the Pledge was the way to go.
  12. Very nice, and an excellent paint job!
  13. More progress on the truck today. I got the interior done and most of the chassis ready to go. Also got the bed decals and C-10 emblem decals on. This is a really nice building kit so far.
  14. Boat and trailer are almost done, Just a few more details, like tail lights for the trailer, and maybe some decals on the boat, we'll see.
  15. Got the dash done and the grille blackwashed yesterday. Making some good progress on it now, I'll try to get more pics tomorrow.
  16. Great color, and I love the engine swap!
  17. Outstanding!
  18. That is a great color, especially cleared. Black stripes would really accentuate this one, rear spoiler or not. I've used craft paints on bodies for my last nine builds, mainly metallics, and am very happy with the results. Doesn't matter what paint you use, or who thinks you should use it, if you get good results that's all that matters. By the way, here's a '67 and '69 Camaro with stripes and no rear spoiler to hopefully give you a little help.
  19. Very nice T!!
  20. Nice looking Impala!
  21. Looks great, and a great color choice!
  22. Here's a few pics of my boat and trailer I'm working on along with a Revell '66 Chevy Fleetside tow vehicle in the same color combo. The deck and trailer are a custom mix of Decoart Extreme Sheen Garnet and Delta Ceramcoat Black Pearl. The upper hull and trailer fenders are in the Black Pearl and the bottom is in Anita's Pearl White.
  23. A few progress pics of my 1966 Chevy Fleetside that I'm building as a tow vehicle for my AMT customizing boat and trailer that will have the same color scheme. The body is a custom mix of Decoart Extreme Sheen Garnet and Delta Ceramcoat Black Pearl craft paints. The cab and roof are painted in the Black Pearl. I'm really liking the look so far and hope to get the interior painted tomorrow and the clear on Friday or Saturday.
