Ouch on the clearcoat issue. My go-to clearcoat has always been Testors Wet Look lacquer or Rustoleum clearcoats. I try not to use Duplicolor since I’ve heard they are too hot for plastic unless you have primer already applied. Outdoor temps can also be the cause of orange peel finish.

Thank you. It is a good kit that didn’t fight me all the way. Pretty basic and straightforward, lots of optional parts to choose from and gave me free range to build however way I wanted. I really enjoyed building this kit. I’d do another if I ever find another one. The only change I made was swap the exhaust headers from the AMT ‘55 Chevy kit.

Last pic is the TV that's in the rear seat area. Copied image from Iron Resurrection tv show and glued on screen. Glass cover was cut to size from clear take out container. :)

She's done. Finished kit in Under Glass thread

What did you see on the road today?

No pics but a 1969 Ford Torino 4 door for sale, a 1963 Chevy II, and a Ricer on the side of the road. Apparently one of his slanted out tires snapped off the front. Tire rolled a ways away and across traffic the opposite direction. LOLOLOLOL!!! I hate those BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH ricers because they think they're the next best muscle cars. Yeah right. Ricers sound like lawnmowers on crack. Noisy as hell. -

I've had a number of cars. Let's start with my first... 1964 Dodge Dart, slany 6, push button automatic. Was given to me by my grandparents for me to use to drive to college. Lasted a couple moths when a piece of the frame rusted out and fell out on the highway. 1975 Chevy Monza. Lasted about a 1 1/2 years. Drove that thing to the ground So that winter I get the next car: 1978 Sunbird. That car was a beats in the winter. 1978 Chevy Monte Carlo the original 305 engine blew out on me. Had a 350 put in. had it for about 2-3 years. 1980 Mercury Topaz 1990 Chevy Eurosport - I loved that car. 2002 Toyota Tacoma 4x2 Had that truck for a short time. With a baby on the way, a truck wasn't feasible. Traded that for the next car... 2003 Toyota Matrix. I absolutely LOVED that car!! Fun to drive yet sporty. Until the missus got in an accident with it. Totaled it. I took the missus's 2000 Toyota Corolla while we got the 2010 Ford Fusion. Traded in the Corolla and got the 2013 Ford Escape, my current vehicle. -
Ollie's strike again
BlackSheep214 replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Stopped by my Ollie's store the other day. No new kits there yet. -
Stopped by Hobby Lobby tonight to see if the Full bumper'70 Camaro finally went in stock. No dice but I did see an AMT 1964 Plymouth Belvedere kit. I was oh-so-close to picking it up tonight. But I resisted. I know... LOL!! Maybe in a couple weeks I'll look again.

I remember Bad Medicine, Red Baron and that funky Vette kit from my youth years. Nice find and haul!!

Funny though. I just watched a recent episode of Iron Resurrection the other night that featured the Karmann-Ghia. I love the work they done to it. Here's the car:

Zero Paint #ZP 1659 Dark Highland Green is the match you want: https://www.zero-paints.com/Ford_Mustang_Dark_Highland_Green_Paint_60ml--product--8110.html

The green shade on the left looks too dark IMO... Look at Zero Paints. You might find what you're looking for there.
-
I say no on the louvers. The green you're looking for is called Ivy Green. Most were produced in Raven Black. (*Not all black are alike. Just remember that). Other available colors were: Wimbledon White Candy Apple Red Sapphire Blue

Now that is gonna be a cool build!!

What did you see on the road today?
BlackSheep214 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Interesting. I was close. LOL. I did step out of the vehicle to get a closer look at it. I noticed the right side of the bike looked like a hot mess with wirings all disarrayed. Seeing that, I suspected maybe it isn’t WW2 era nor US made after all. No wonder he wanted to sell it. Cool thing to find for sale though. A side note... I did see a ‘55 Chevy going the opposite direction yesterday afternoon. It has been a long time since I saw one on the road in my area. Turquoise and white - definitely the classic color scheme of its day. -

Here are the pics of automobile and WW2 era motorcycle with sidecar I mentioned. Does anyone know what's the make and year of the car? -
I know I messed up with Molotow chrome pen doing the trim work on the door panels, I don't care since you'll hardly notice it inside once it's all complete. First the dashboard and steering wheel and completed interior....
-
Interior is done. I opt to use the custom center console that came with the kit. The slot in rear seat area portion of the console gave me a choice to use 1 of 3 items: Boom box (cassette recorder according to instruction guide, old school xra phone and a TV. I chose the TV. LOL! I sanded off the silly image on the TV screen and printed an image of Iron Resurrection intro screen of the show. Glued in place using white glue. I wasn't satisfied with that. The TV needs a glass screen so what better way to replicate that is by using those clear plastic deli/take-out containers. Easy peasy... simply cut to fit the screen and glue in place with Canopy white glue since it dries clear...

Next, the interior. I've been working on that for a week now. Pics forthcoming soon...

No pics but in the last week I saw a "56 Chevy... a first I've seen one around my area. This week alone while on the road on my job as courier, I saw a 1950 or 1951 GMC sitting in the driveway just outside Van Hornesville, a 1960(?) Studebaker for sale outside Richfield Springs also for sale and in need of restoration, a WW2 era motorcycle with side car for sale for $5500 on Rt. 20 outside of Richfield Springs, another classic I couldn't tell what it is sitting back in some guy's driveway - also outside Richfield Springs. I know it has a gold circle badge on the hood front. (Will post pics soon). And finally outside Herkimer on Rt. 5S, a mid to late 30s Chevy convertible with top down. Oh yeah, a fully restored orange 1971 Chevy El Camino SS. You should've heard her growl as she turned to the street I was waiting to turn in. LOL!! -
Looking very nice! That's one kit I never thought to grab when Hobby Lobby had them. Now I wished I had.

The change I made is on the exhaust headers. I removed the ones I had started with and am going with these bad boys instead. They are from the '55 Chevy Bel Air kit. I've already test fitted them and they're going to work just fine. Side note... this kit had custom exhaust headers but wasn't too crazy about them.
