I have the paperback set. Maybe 6 books in all. I have 1 or 2 loose ones around too. Now that I'm indoors more, I should get them out again.

I read that too and bought a copy at our school book fair for like 75 cents. When I was recovering from my 2016 heart attack, I bought the whole set. Ricky's girlfriend talked him into painting it pink. The car won ? 1st prize at a show... in DesMoines, IIRC. Spoiler alert...they were returning from the show, both were killed after something broke in the suspension. The car went off a bridge and into the drink.

What do you use for flat and satin black?
bobss396 replied to LennyB's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Tamiya TS-68, NATO black is good. I also like Duplicolor Universal Flat Black, think the number is 104. Another I like is Mr. Hobby black primer. -
Yes, that was him. Someone else said he had retired.

This is an offshoot to the existing AI thread from a couple of days ago. How would you like to have on the one that you order? Keep it clean. I'll start. It would have to have mad bartending skills, the ability to drive me around even in the rain and snow. It would need at a minimum a repertoire of at least 10,000 risqué limericks and the ability to create new ones. Of course we need some help with our models. One should be able to 3D print any part that we may need.

What is the best to open

As a kid, my dad had a sanding drum on an arbor that we used. On his drill press it made perfect wheel openings. -

Dogs on the loose will walk away with something like that.. or roll around in it... -

Funny... by my dad out east they were always on the move, as he backed up to a county park and they traveled in large groups. Right before Thanksgiving.. they vanished for some reason. -
Yes, AI and robots will replace humans.

Heck.. I'm holding out for one that would serve as a drinking buddy that could also drive me around. Options would be that it would have to laugh at all of my jokes... and if it could pass gas, all the better. -
I did start one earlier in the year. I have the main cage completed. I'm on the fence about substituting the front of the chassis with something newer. I have some Bobby Allison decals on hand too. It would be a great tribute build.

Doug Heveron drove one of his later creations. That had mis-matched panels on it. Len put his money and efforts into only what won him races. I saw Len at some races over the years, he also was not one to invest in a lot of food, he was on the slim side.

I have one of their Lemans kits started (BACK IN THE BOX...), of course another stalled project. At least that one seems to use a similar chassis to the GMP Regal. I had to add filler material to parts of the rear chassis and firewall, the gaps were large. But they build up nicely as yours did. I just got their Gray Ghost kit.

Awesome build! We definitely could use a source for the early Falcon bodies. I have an eye out for a builder-donor. My plans would to use the Mustang or later Falcon AWB as the donor kit.

You should come to a meeting, next Thursday at 7, same location. The Radisson was a great place, very posh. That was my 1st show in 1998. I had a 1965 Ford stock car that was shot by Scale Auto and went into the contest cars edition. In 1999 I had a 1958 Chevy custom that won best-in-show. They had to come and get me out of the bar. I still have the trophy in my den, my son at the time was 7 and I had him carry it from the car, it was almost as tall as him. Venues with bars are great. Masscar had a bar at their last show I went to in 2011. I won 8 awards, my brother 5. My little Altima was stuffed to the gills for the ride home. We have lost a lot of good vendors in recent years. One guy Ron came from PA. All new kits and accessories.

I was watching this last night.. again. The Oldsmobile in this scene belonged to my neighbor down the block. He traded it after that for another car. When the cars were there to shoot the scene, the directors wanted to spray the shiny cars with something to make them look dull. Which most owners grumbled about. His car was okay as is.

The property next door was overgrown and finally cleared around 2004. With that, we had rats all over by me. I set up glue traps in the garage. Nailed to scrap lumber so they couldn't walk away with them. Also the wood Victor traps, also nailed down. I finally caught about 10 of them. A couple of years ago. I saw baby rats playing in my yard. I got some of the Victor plastic snap-traps which I highly recommend. I got hits on the baited traps within 30 minutes. But.. I also got a Robin in one. So I put the traps under plastic containers to keep the birds out. -
Ever lose a built model car in the house?

I have projects that I have forgotten about and ran into them while rooting around for other things. Now I label all of my boxed up projects. One was a '64 Galaxie stock car from around 2008.. I started working on it again last year. I should have taken another approach with the donor chassis. The other was a '64 Fairlane resin stock car that was about 3/4 complete. I did finish it this year. -
We will discuss other venues at our next meeting. We do have to cater to those who come from out of state, so it has to be easy to find. I joined the club in 1998, the first 2 shows we had were on Vets Highway in a fancy hotel. We shared that with another club that has since folded. Then we used a catering hall in Hicksville that was extremely poorly illuminated for 2 shows. By 2002 we moved to Freeport. I see other shows shrinking. MASSCAR used to have a great show. That club folded. There were a couple of Staten Island shows that went POOF. One was at a college along with a 1:1 car show, another was sponsored by a hobby shop, Brownies Hobbies, held at a church. I'm not sure if the Rhinebeck show is still going on. I was set up on the left side 3/4 of the wat down, next to the guy selling tools.

I still maintain that AI by design is out to make people dumber, not smarter. A smart population is harder to control over a dumbed down one. I had a nephew years ago tell me that it was no longer cool to be smart in school and he and other kids were happy to skate by doing as little as possible. Of course things like common-core helped this along.

Decal placement could vary from race to race so I think you did very well with the car.

Fastback Pontiac- Concept 1965
bobss396 replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We had a guy in the club who is no longer with us. He was the master at creating cars like that. His nick name was Slice 'N Dice. At his wake he had some modeling tools in the casket with him. I donated a new Zona razor saw with his nick name laser etched on it. Ought to be a hoot when someone digs him up in 10,000 years.
