I've used this and like the product. It is a powder that becomes adhesive when burnished down. It does lose some color though when you clear over it.

Models at the Office?
Jantrix replied to Joe Handley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's always a possibility, but more than that I find that I get more people that want me to build a model FOR them. I've been asked at least six times. -
Need some design help. AMT '57 Chrysler

This.................I have already done. Good suggestion though. I do like the "Ugly Stick" idea though. Call it the JC Whitney Special. I will have to find more parts packs though. Thanks again guys. this is great stuff. -
Models at the Office?

You just happened to catch me in my cubicle. The Ferrari and Chevy are diecasts and the Ford is my lone model that I keep at work. The Ford was a quick build that if something happens to it, I won't be heartbroken. I wouldn't trust that one of my nicer builds wouldn't go missing. -
Just FYI, that line across the rear of the cab above the rear window is a mold line if I'm not mistaken. You should probably get rid of it before going much further on the finish.

Need some design help. AMT '57 Chrysler

I quite agree. I'd much rather build a '60 Desoto Adventurer. For me, variety is the spice of life and it's very important in my building. Once I have done a particular "type" of car, odds are very low that will do another one. I might build the same kit, but it will be in a radically different way. For me filling the niche of a type of car is important. I'm going to do as many types of car as I possibly can. Finding something really unique to fill that niche is the fun part. I mean I could have done a lot of different models to be the drift car in my collection, but making it an AMC Pacer Wagon is just fun. I've just looked at the Flintstone wagon. Very disappointing that it doesn't come with an interior and glass. -

Not true. Very helpful. I'm looking for a "theme". Pro-street is a theme and designs follow. I do have an AMT 70 Superbee pro-street kit. Where I wouldn't open the doors like you, but it's definitely something I'd consider. Thanks again to everyone who responded. Jesse, the push car idea is very good. At the top of my list. -

A wagon? Now that's an idea. I have the optional wagon top from the '65 Lincoln kit. I'll have to see how that would look. Great ideas guys, I really appreciate the feedback. And you are right, it is a great looking car without doing a thing to it. -

Trying to figure out all the ways that was cut, makes my head hurt. -
I have around 65 kits. Most of them, I have a pretty good idea on how I'm going to build them. I've got plans and I'm hunting up parts and decals and what not. And then there's this thing. Don't get me wrong, I really like this car. I've heard it's a good kit. It would be a shame to part it out for the engine and tires and forget about it. But I don't have a single idea what do do with it. So a little help would be appreciated. Now don't just say, "slam it and paint it red!", I'm looking for a theme. Weird, odd, unusual is my wheelhouse, feel free to exercise the imagination. Any help would be appreciated.

Rats! I forgot all about this CBP. It would have been perfect for my '30 a-bone.

Methyl ethyl ketone. It's a solvent that will melt styrene in much the same way as Tenax. If you use enough it will render the plastic to the point where it is like putty and can be used as filler. However there are health risks that require protective gear like a mask with filter and safety glasses when using it. I will likely try this in the future, I just do not have a good area to use it in, as I'm in an apartment. I have started scribing the trunk free. I will re-tape and begin sectioning the body soon.

I'd love to participate myself. I'm still waiting on that Key West to Puerto Rico bridge to get finished.

Check out the Monogram 1/24 Turbo Trans Am.

Here's my thought for the finish.

I'm going to use the CA/powder method after all. MEK is frightful stuff apparently and I really don't have a good safe place to use it, and I'm not going to waste a bottle of solvent glue to use it.
-
I've kicked that around, but it's still a different material than the styrene and is harder to sand and feather out. I've been wanting to try this for a while anyway. Also to make the section easier I'm going to open the trunk I think.
-
Well the need to work and sleep is really cutting into the bench time. I can squeeze in about 30 minutes a day. I have the side trim removed and the tape cut for the section job. The horizontal tape is the portion that will be removed. The vertical line, is just a cut line. There's no need to section the grill. I'm going to take my time and get this cut over the next few days if I can get time. I want the cleanest cut I can get. I'm thinking about trying the method of melting sprue with MEK and creating a plastic paste to do the filling with. Since the cuts will be visible on the inside of the body too, I want them really clean. I never seem to get perfection with Bondo type fillers.

I'm not sure what you are seeing but his feedback rating is 93.8%. Which per their math is 1 bad deal out of 15. I looked through the guys entire feedback history, and the 1 negative feedback is the only one. I'd buy from him. Just not this particular kit.
