  1. My Jolly Roger Merc which is in creative limbo at the moment while I figure out the front seats.
  2. Whoa!
  3. Great work, the pulleys are a nice touch.
  4. I'm at the site now and for some reason can't see the tire/wheel sets.
  5. All I can say say is that I'm real glad I didn't place any bets this weekend. I was only 1 for 4 in my picks.
  6. Hey Mikey, what kit did those wheels/tires come from? I'm looking for four of those, or something similar.
  7. Great idea until you have to turn. Zen, it's great to have you. Due to Slant's theme this year, I've found that teh Cannonball once again fits the theme of a model already in the planning stages so I'm in once again. Looks like we have most of the usual suspects and plenty of new faces. It's gonna be fun.
  8. Yeah Virgil, the Gunslinger was an incredible first for me. It was the first time I decided to not only think outside the box, but to then put said box under the rear tire and hit the gas. It was my first weathering job and it had a lot of scratchbuilding too. I learned an awful lot doing it. I've been kicking this around for a while now Doc and I think I'm going to sit this one out. I have a lot of other builds in the works or in the "coming soon!" planning stage. I have done two post apoc builds now counting my Gunslinger and Cherry 2000 Mustang replica and my Spartan Deathracer as well. I'm just not feeling that itch to build another. Maybe next time.
  9. Perverse? Hey I resemble that remark!
  10. Try sculptors active wire mesh. You can find it as a craft store like Michaels in the sculpting aisle. Not expensive and as you can see, comes in more than one size.
  11. I quite agree. There isn't a person on this forum that was overjoyed by the result of their first built. Especially with tube glue and enamels. Take what you've learned and apply it to the next kit. You've already deconstructed the other, so now you've got some spare parts which is never a bad thing. Take your time. Be meticulous. If something doesn't look good or fit right, keep at it until it does. That way there's no chance of being disappointed again. There's lots of info here on glues/paint/details. Find it, use it. We'll be here to fill in the blanks.
  12. Great info! I always wondered what the difference was. Thanks very much. The Willys looks like a great project. Looking forward to seeing more.
  13. Looking good Slant. It's gonna be a beast.
  14. Yeah just get some 1:1 dimensions, scale them down, get some sheet stock and...................................
  15. Yeah, I like that grill! Well done.
  16. I am Jim, but not this Jaxcon. I'm affraid I won't be able to make it to Jacksonvile this year. It's just not in the budget I'm affaid. Danno, excellent point and one that I have thought about. So as I stated in an earlier post, I'm going to use the part as-is. Thanks everyone for their input, I'm going to go ahead and close the thread now.
  17. The plan was to increase the size of the knob so that it was large enough to create and 8-ball shifter know. Like so. I used a pin on this one but you get the idea.
  18. No sun, no freeze, just boom and a big mess.
  19. It would be my luck that someone else will have built the same car OOB and the difference might be noticed, and then I'd have some "esplainin to do Lucy". I think Ramcharger has the right of it and I'll play along. I'll use the part as is. *sigh*
  20. Well under most OOB rules, modifying a part generally isn't allowed, like lowering suspension by modifying spindles. Or am I wrong about that? From the IPMS rule book. I realize these leave a lot open to interpretation.
  21. Hmmmmmm lets see. Dodge resurrected the 300, Charger, Challenger name plates and sold a heap of them. Chevy resurrected the Impala and Camaro and sold a heap of them. Anyone not seeing the pattern here? A VAST majority of the populance doesn't give a rats posterior about the history or "legacy" of a nameplate, they just think, "yeah my dad had one of these" and off they go. And Chevy doesn't either, it's just a marketing ploy. And it'll work. You guys feel free to be purists or whatever, the world will take no notice. Which I why I don't care about such things any more.
  22. Luckily all the paints were in the general storage area of the garage. So mostly my yard equipement got most of the mess, which I'm not worried about.
